The primary objective of this role is to support manufacturing from a test and automation perspective in the production of the Aurora’s HW and delivering the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly. A successful candidate is data-driven, excels at complex problem solving, has a strong engineering background with software and hardware skills, product focused mindset, and can lead cross-functional efforts.

In this role you will

• Support and debug software tools used in manufacturing tests and provisioning.
• Closely collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to harden and optimize automated manufacturing test procedures.
• Data management and analysis to track production test performance metrics, prioritize top issues, and drive continuous improvement activities with cross-functional teams.
• Provides technical test support to all local manufacturing areas, locations, and customers as needed.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in data collection with electronic test equipment and data-acquisition systems.
• Prior verification, validation, and testing experience with emphasis on debugging skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication of test status and results, including writing formal test reports/records.
• Experience in manufacturing test development and sustaining efforts at scale
• Ability to read design drawings/wiring schematics.
• Excellent analytical abilities, technical writing ability, and a comprehensive understanding of problem-solving.
• Experience programming in Python is required.
• Experience with Linux operating systems.
• Experience with Google Suite, JIRA, JAMA, and GIT.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• International travel to CM for on-site bring-up and support.

Desirable Qualifications

• M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (with mechatronics experience), a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Familiarity with FMCW LiDAR and/or RF transceivers.
• Experience with optical system prototyping and characterization.

The base salary range for this position is $135,000 - $216,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced QMS Quality Engineer to join our Hardware Safety and Quality team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in establishing, maintaining, and improving our Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards in the design, development, and operation of hardware products. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a proven track record in quality engineering and a strong understanding of ISO standards, particularly in the hardware sector.

In this role, you will

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 standards for hardware product design and development processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, production, and operations to ensure quality standards are integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
• Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and management reviews to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and continuous improvement of the QMS.
• Lead and coordinate quality-related training programs for staff to increase awareness and ensure adherence to quality processes and standards.
• Analyze data and metrics related to product quality, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Experienced in ISO-9001 quality management systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering, with a focus on quality management systems, hardware product development and operations.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in ISO 9001 standards and quality management methodologies.
• Proficient in quality tools and techniques such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and others.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Certification in Quality Management, such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar, is highly desirable.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Desirable Qualifications 

• Experienced in IATF 16949, ISO 26262.
• Experience with Linux operating systems.
• Minitab or other statistical software capabilities.
• Experience programming and scripting (C++, Python or equivalent).
• Experience with Jira, Jama, Arena, and general familiarity with PLM, ERP, and MRP systems.

We’re searching for a Senior Engineer to join Aurora’s Hardware NPI Engineering team. 

The NPI Engineer is responsible for shepherding hardware from concept review to low-volume manufacturing. They guide design engineers in selecting appropriate manufacturing processes and are on the floor through each build to deliver finished vehicle integrations, electronic sensors and modules, and computers.

In this role, you will

• Provide feedback on manufacturing and service requirements, process control plans, and quality assurance. Develop hardware standards and design guidelines.
• Own control plans, manufacturing BOM, and necessary documentation to transfer HW from design to the production floor, whether internal or external.
• Review data packages before they are released for manufacturing.
• Create and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, forms, records, checklists, process sequence/routing, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), PFMEAs, and other required manufacturing documentation
• Support and guide the manufacturing team through all phases of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP); particularly the later phases associated with designing and developing the manufacturing process and validating the Process / Product (i.e., MSAs, production trial runs, Run @ Rate, PPAPs, control plans)
• Research manufacturing fabrication and processes new to the company and guide design engineers on their use. Create Requests for Quotation/Proposal when necessary.
• Act as a liaison between the module, integration and electrical teams and cross-functional teams for planning, logistics, and ad hoc requests. Organize cross-functional design reviews.
• Lead or participate in Kaizen activities to ensure continuous improvement in processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment
• Quickly come-up-to speed on new technologies and engineering challenges
• Conduct multidisciplinary rapid problem-solving activities and propose solutions to both prototype and production manufacturing challenges, such as Design for Excellence (DfX) input, e.g., Design for Manufacturing (DfM), Design for Assembly (DfA), Design for Cost/Procurement (DfC/DfP), Design for Inspection/Test (DfI/T), Design for Service/Repair/Maintenance (DfS/R/M)
• Work with internal production and external CMs. 
• Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• International Travel 35%.
• Evening Conference calls with CM in Asia 2-3 times a week.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in engineering role with experience working in low to high volume production environments.
• Bonus points for experience in AV, robotics, or the automotive industry.
• Experience with launching hardware products and the product life cycle, and selecting the right-sized process based on the needs of the program.
• Experience with working with supply chain and vendors, bonus points for experience in design engineering and new product introduction.
• Working knowledge of GD&T.
• Experience with 3D CAD and PDM/PLM, preferably Catia/Solidworks and Enovia/EPDM.
• Need to live in a high output constantly evolving environment wearing many hats that include everything from concepts to sustaining engineering.
• Extensive design experience that can be leveraged to successfully work with cross-functional partners like the internal design team and external CM’s.

• Experience in the automotive industry
• Experience with optical, electro-optical, and opto-mechanical assembly and manufacture.
