Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist – Old Age Psychiatry (NHS) – Merseyside
Salary: £99,532 – £131,964 per annum (NHS Consultant Pay Scale)

Job Overview:
A well-established NHS Older Adult Mental Health Service is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide specialist care for patients over 65 years old with mental health disorders such as dementia, late-onset schizophrenia, depression, and complex psychiatric conditions. The role involves both inpatient and community-based care, offering the opportunity to work in a collaborative MDT setting alongside geriatricians, psychologists, and social care professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will conduct comprehensive memory assessments and develop individualized treatment plans. You will lead medication reviews, risk assessments, and cognitive behavioral management strategies. Collaborating closely with primary care teams, neurology departments, and care homes, you will ensure continuity of care. Additionally, you will provide clinical leadership within multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions, offer psychoeducation and support to carers and families, and act as a Responsible Clinician (RC) under the Mental Health Act, participating in tribunals and capacity assessments. Furthermore, you will supervise and mentor junior doctors and specialty trainees.
