About the role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong enterprise JVM experience. This role is a good fit for someone proactive and excited by complex engineering challenges at the intersection of production systems, developer tools, and AI agents.
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, and lead the development of product features.
- Develop tooling and automation for AI-first engineering workflows.
- Work on enterprise integrations and deployment scenarios across Kubernetes and cloud environments.
- Improve reliability, testing, performance, and security for production use.

The JetBrains Cloud Platform team develops a cloud-based service that helps organizations manage JetBrains products and services with a focus on encouraging the adoption of AI-powered development tools. JCP provides centralized management, usage-based billing, and visibility into AI consumption patterns.
We are currently seeking a skilled Performance QA Engineer to join our team and improve the reliability of our system. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the scalability and stability of our distributed systems through rigorous performance testing and analysis.
As part of our team, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated performance test suites for complex distributed systems.
- Identify system bottlenecks, conduct root-cause analysis, and partner with engineering teams to implement remediation strategies.
- Generate high-quality performance reports with actionable recommendations and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work closely with cross-functional development teams to identify performance-critical components and define SLAs, performance criteria, and workload models.
- Design and enhance frameworks for performance test execution, test results collection, analysis, visualization, and reporting.
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines.
We’ll be happy to have you on our team if you have:
- 5+ years of experience in performance testing or engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with at least one major performance testing tool – K6, JMeter, Gatling, Locust, or LoadRunner (code-based tools are preferred, but git knowledge is a must).
- Solid programming or scripting skills in languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go.

The role
We are looking for a Software Architect (Platform Architecture) to shape the core technical foundations of JetBrains Cloud Platform from the ground up.
This role focuses on the architecture of shared platform capabilities: cross-product services, infrastructure abstractions, integration standards, scalability and reliability principles, and operational foundations (such as security, governance, observability, and cost controls). As this is a new platform, many standards and processes are still works in progress – you will actively influence what good quality looks like and help teams build toward it.
As part of the team, you will:
- Design and evolve the architecture of a cross-product platform that serves as the foundation for AI-driven software development.
- Define architectural principles, standards, and guidelines for platform services and shared foundations.
- Design integration patterns and interfaces between platform services, developer tools, and external systems.
- Ensure architectural decisions support scalability, reliability, security, and observability from the outset.
- Own and drive key platform-level architectural decisions and trade-offs (e.g., service boundaries, data flows, identity, policy, and tenancy).
- Review and validate architectural designs across teams to ensure consistency and long-term sustainability.
- Collaborate with other architects and platform specialists to align on shared decisions and evolve the platform architecture over time.
- Work closely with senior and staff engineers to translate platform requirements into coherent technical designs and implementation plans.

We’re looking for a Research Engineer who will own the training stack and model architecture for our Mellum LLM family. Your job is easier said than done: make training faster, cheaper, and more stable at a large scale. You’ll profile, design, and implement changes to the training pipeline – from architecture to custom GPU kernels, as needed.
As part of our team, you will:
- Be responsible for improving end-to-end performance for multi-node LLM pre-training and post-training pipelines.
- Profile hotspots (Nsight Systems/Compute, NVTX) and fix them using compute/comm overlap, kernel fusion, scheduling, etc.
- Design and evaluate architecture choices (depth/width, attention variants including GQA/MQA/MLA/Flash-style, RoPE scaling/NTK, and MoE routing and load-balancing).
- Implement custom ops (Triton and/or CUDA C++), integrate via PyTorch extensions, and upstream when possible.
- Push memory/perf levers: FSDP/ZeRO, activation checkpointing, FP8/TE, tensor/pipeline/sequence/expert parallelism, NCCL tuning.
- Harden large runs by building elastic and fault-tolerant training setups, ensuring robust checkpointing, strengthening reproducibility, and improving resilience to preemption.
- Keep the data path fast using streaming and sharded data loaders and tokenizer pipelines, as well as improve overall throughput and cache efficiency.
- Define the right metrics, build dashboards, and deliver steady improvements.
- Run both pre-training and post-training (including SFT, RLHF, and GRPO-style methods) efficiently across sizable clusters.
We’ll be happy to bring you on board if you have:
- Strong PyTorch and PyTorch Distributed experience, having run multi-node jobs with tens to hundreds of GPUs.
- Hands-on experience with Megatron-LM/Megatron-Core/NeMo, DeepSpeed, or serious FSDP/ZeRO expertise.

We’re looking for an experienced QA Automation Engineer to join our Dev Environments team and help ensure the quality and reliability of WSL, Docker, Kubernetes, Dev Containers, and other virtualized development environment tooling within the IntelliJ-based product family.
As a QA Automation Engineer, you're not just writing tests – you're:

What you'll do
Core responsibilities
Test automation
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scenarios (UI, E2E, and functional) across various operating systems (Linux, Windows, macOS) and environments like Docker and WSL.
- Expand test coverage for new and existing functionality.
- Improve existing automation based on team feedback, reduce test flakiness, and automate routine checks.
- Debug and troubleshoot test failures, distinguishing product issues (regressions) from infrastructure-related issues (including test, framework, or environment).
- Optimize test execution time and reliability.
- Contribute to frameworks and tools with product-specific extensions as needed.
Quality assurance
- Monitor test execution results and investigate failures.
- Participate in release quality assessments.
- Collaborate with QA Engineers and developers on testability and quality improvements:
- Participate in design discussions to reveal risks early.
- Suggest testing approaches.
- Deal with regressions before they reach users.
- Help define test strategies and quality gates for your team.
- Support manual QA activities when needed, for example by reporting bugs in YouTrack and verifying that they are fixed.
- Fill the gap between manual testing and automated execution by co-authoring test plans and aligning quality strategy within the team.
Continuous improvement
- Define and track quality metrics, including testing coverage, failure rate, and flakiness.
- Identify gaps in test coverage and propose solutions.
- Improve domain-specific test infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines within your team's scope.
- Share knowledge about automation best practices with other team members.
- Work with the tooling team to adopt new frameworks and practices.
What we're looking for
Required skills
Technical foundation
- Proven experience in test automation.
- Solid programming skills in Kotlin or Java and a good understanding of the JVM.
- Experience with test frameworks: JUnit or TestNG.
- Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (TeamCity or similar).
- Experience with reporting tools (Allure or others).
- Version control experience (Git).
Quality mindset
- Ability to isolate root causes and distinguish product bugs from environment issues.
- Attention to detail, even while maintaining focus on overall quality goals.
Collaboration
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with other teams.

We’re now looking for an experienced and proactive Full-stack QA Engineer to join our team to help us with functional and performance testing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining an automated testing infrastructure, setting up CI/CD pipelines, selecting and integrating existing tools, and designing new ones.
- Writing and improving automated tests, particularly for APIs.
- Collaborating with the QA and Development teams to design and execute test scenarios.
- Working with logs and monitoring tools (e.g. Kibana, Grafana) to detect functional issues and performance anomalies.
- Ensuring the quality of our distributed AI-powered systems by validating integrations with various language models and APIs.
We would like you on our team if you:
- Have at least three years of experience in software testing (manual and automated).
- Possess a solid understanding of REST APIs, request/response structures, status codes, and typical scenarios.
- Have hands-on experience with Postman or similar API testing tools.
- Are familiar with writing automated tests for APIs using any programming language or framework.
- Understand distributed systems and microservice architectures.
- Have basic Docker skills (running containers, working with Docker Compose).
- Are comfortable reading and interpreting OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
- Have a basic understanding of authentication and authorization protocols (e.g. OAuth 2.0, API keys, and JWT).
- Can work well both independently and within a team, demonstrating strong self-management skills.
- Have a good command of English, both spoken and written.
We’d be especially thrilled if you:
- Have hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Helm).
- Have experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. TeamCity or GitHub Actions).
- Have experience with performance testing tools (e.g. k6).
- Are familiar with TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
- Have worked with automated testing infrastructure and processes.
- Enjoy digging into logs and debugging distributed systems.
