Mission Statement: The Associate Fleet Operations Specialist supports the business to ensure the fleet is ready to be deployed and safe to operate on public roads. Reporting to the Fleet Management Supervisor, the Associate Fleet Operations Specialist communicates between Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Testing Operations, Test Engineering, and Engineering teams for daily utilization of AV Fleet resources. Key responsibilities include facilitating fleet readiness activities such as ensuring repairs, maintenance, and updates are conducted safely and promptly, along with keeping cross-functional stakeholders informed. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards and operational efficiency at all times.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Input and track daily vehicle scheduling/rotation/planning in support of all fleet operations
• Perform maintenance work order creation, inspection documentation and logging
• Utilize Fleetio, Jira, Slack and various G Suite applications to support fleet operations 
• Review vehicle statuses, flag out of service units, assign and/or escalate work orders
• Multi-site logistics coordination scheduling vehicle pickups/drop-offs for service and repair
• Multi-site support of R&D/Test operations via pack/ship of hardware or special project equipment
• Multi-site inventory management duties such as stockroom/parts organization and supply orders
• Author, update, and maintain documentation/databases related to fleet readiness and repair
• Facilitate and create SOP’s, checklists, and internal service bulletins

A Triage Specialist is responsible for accurately reviewing data that has been collected from, but not limited to Public Road Evaluation (PRE) testing and performing first-level Root Cause Analysis and quality checks for third party Triage Contractors. They communicate between Engineering and component teams and help to improve Triage outcomes. This role will identify gaps and assist in creating processes that will enhance Triage throughput. Efficiency and quality is critical, but ultimately, a Triage Specialist plays a key role in maintaining the safety standards of how the AV performs on the road.

Essential Duties:

• Perform Level 1 Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on several different test modalities, including, but not limited to, public roads, closed courses, and simulation
• Work closely with third-party Triage contractors to help improve quality and throughput
• Closely partner with the Autonomy Team to maintain a rapport for a rapid and iterative feedback loop
• Drive the issue identification, analysis/introspection, mitigation, and reporting lifecycle with the System Performance engineers

This is a pivotal time to join Motional. We are transitioning from development to deployment, launching our commercial driverless service in Las Vegas in 2026. In collaboration with a major ride-hail partner, we are setting the stage to scale this technology to dozens of cities across the U.S. and internationally. This role requires a leader with a proven track record in forging successful alliances, negotiating complex agreements, and managing relationships with key stakeholders. You will serve as the "Voice of the Customer," owning the relationship at all levels of the organization, playing a critical role in shaping our commercial strategy and achieving our long-term objectives, ensuring our commercial operations translate into scalable, revenue-generating reality. 

This role will be expected to travel up to 40% of the time depending on the business purpose and partnership deliverables.

What you'll be doing:

• Own the Partner Relationship: Serve as the primary commercial owner for critical accounts, navigating complex stakeholder maps to connect internal leads with their external counterparts. You will drive account health, retention, and efficiency by ensuring the right people are connected at the right time.
• Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the operational bridge between Commercial and technical execution teams (Product, Ops, TPM). You will translate high-level commercial milestones into clear directives, ensuring workstreams converge on time for successful deployments.
• Lead Strategic Collaborations: Establish the partnership's rhythm of business, including Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), Steering Committees, and executive briefings. You will lead internal alignment to ensure high-stakes partner events and demos are executed flawlessly.
• Define Success & Track KPIs: Define what winning looks like for both Motional and our partners. You will track and report on key performance indicators across teams to ensure we are meeting contractual obligations and commercial goals.
• Support Market Expansion: Lead the rollout strategy for new launch markets, coordinating logistics between Operations, Strategy, technical teams and external partners. You will drive the readiness efforts required to move from pilot zones to full commercial scale.
• Create Data-Driven Feedback Loops: Translate partner insights—such as pickup/drop-off friction—into actionable engineering requests. You will close the loop between commercial reality and technical roadmaps to optimize the end-to-end passenger experience

• Proven Engineering Leadership: 2+ years of experience managing high-performing development teams, with a demonstrable track record of inspiring, mentoring, and coaching engineers and driving measurable productivity gains.

• Production-Grade Software Development: Expertise in Modern C++ development within a Linux environment, with a focus on writing high-performance, real-time, and safety-critical code.
• Tooling Proficiency: Fluency in Python for rapid prototyping, data analysis, and visualization. Experience applying AI-augmented development workflows to large-scale Modern C++ codebases (e.g., agentic tools for multi-file refactoring, automated test generation, semantic code navigation, and code review acceleration) is strongly preferred. Experience with SQL or big-data frameworks for fleet-scale performance analysis is a significant plus.
