Ozow is seeking a Software Engineer to join our talented development team. As a Software Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining innovative solutions that power our digital payment platforms. Your role and responsibilities 

Software Development 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that meet high-quality standards and business requirements.  

Coding 

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while following best practices and coding standards.  

Technical Problem Solving 

• Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.  

System Architecture 

• Contribute to the design and architecture of software systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.  

Code Reviews 

• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and knowledge sharing within the team.  

Agile Development 

• Work in an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.  

Documentation 

• Create and maintain technical documentation for software and processes.  

Mentoring 

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.  

You are an ideal candidate if you have 

• At least 4+ years of work-related experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer  
• Ideally have an IT Diploma or Degree  
• Ability to develop software in .NET 8 C#, JavaScript, ReactJs, HTML, CSS and other programming languages (polyglots preferred)  
• Excellent knowledge of Postgres, Mssql technologies (EF, NHibernate)  
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Redis, Riak, MongoDB, and others.  
• Experience developing web applications, with a good understanding of how the web works  
• Proven experience in high-scale applications and an understanding of the practices and approaches that are employed in scaling applications beneficial.  
• Experience with unit testing, knowledge of applying test-driven development beneficial  
• Understanding DevOps principals and how to apply them practically beneficial.  
• Experience in cloud services preferred – AWS, Azure.  
• Experience with containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy) highly beneficial.  
• Experience working with agile methodologies – a true believer

As a Lead Java Engineer at Luno, you’ll be at the core of our financial exchange transformation, through migrating and modernising our architecture to deliver resilient, high-performance trading systems. You’ll help design the backbone of our global exchange infrastructure, ensuring it scales reliably for millions of customers worldwide. Your mission will be:

• Architecture Migration: Lead the design and implementation of core exchange services as we migrate legacy components into a modern, modular Java-based architecture.
• System Optimisation: Analyse and optimise matching engine, order routing, and settlement workflows for latency, throughput, and fault tolerance.
• Scalable Design: Contribute to a globally distributed, high-availability trading platform with a strong focus on resilience, monitoring, and observability.
• Collaborative Delivery: Work closely with product managers, architects, and fellow engineers to ensure features are delivered on time and aligned with business and compliance needs.
• Technical Leadership: Guide design patterns, performance tuning, and best practices in large-scale system development.
• Code Quality & Governance: Maintain high-quality code standards with strong test coverage, documentation, and adherence to regulatory and operational controls.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, reduce technical debt, and streamline deployment pipelines.
• Mentorship: Coach and mentor engineers across the team, with a focus on scalable Java development and financial systems design.

A little about you:

• Proven Seniority: Proven experience as a senior or lead-level software engineer, with deep expertise in large-scale, distributed Java systems—ideally within financial markets, trading, or exchange infrastructure.
• Java Expertise: Strong proficiency with Java, JVM internals, concurrency, performance tuning, and frameworks such as Spring Boot. Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.) is highly valuable.
• Financial Systems Understanding: A solid understanding of trading and exchange systems (order books, matching engines, risk management, or settlement workflows).
• Computer Science Fundamentals: Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, networking, and global-scale system design.
• Architecture & Technical Change: A track record of driving architectural change, including re-platforming or migrating legacy systems to modern, scalable architectures.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Strong collaboration, leadership, and mentoring skills, with proven ability to guide teams through complex system migrations.
• Customer & Compliance Focus: Ability to balance technical design with reliability, compliance, and operational governance in a regulated financial environment

Senior Full Stack Engineer

The Role - What will you be doing? 

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Join a rapidly growing team to help BCB build and scale our products and deliver them to clients.
• Use your software engineering skills to develop, test, release, support and maintain complex financial platforms. Our backend is written in Node driven by SQL databases and our front-end uses the Angular framework. All our services run in google cloud in Kubernetes.
• Work closely with product managers to focus on new feature design, build and ship scalable products.

So, what are we looking for?

• 5+ Years Experience in software engineering.
• Experience working with microservices and distributed systems architecture.
• Expert proficiency in server-side development.
• Proficiency in TypeScript.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and message queuing systems, ideally Google Pub/Sub, Kafka.
• Experience with Node.JS and server frameworks, ideally NestJS.
• High level expertise in SQL development and database programming: MySQL/PostgreSQL.
• Good working knowledge of front-end frameworks, ideally Angular.
• Knowledge of Cloud Platforms, ideally Google Cloud..
• Expertise in automated testing at unit, integration and system level.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms, ideally gitlab.
• Experience in Fintech/Banking is highly desirable.
• Take ownership of key architectural decisions and contribute to the technical roadmap.
• Mentor junior engineers and champion best practices within the team.
