About the role: 

The Engineering Manager for the DevTools team leads a group focused on building internal developer platforms (IDPs), tooling, and services that enable product delivery teams to move quickly, safely, and efficiently. This role is designed for a technical leader who thrives at the intersection of high-scale systems architecture and people development. You will champion our developer portal, treating our internal developers as customers to build seamless, self-service tooling that removes cognitive load and accelerates product delivery. You ensure your team delivers high quality, secure, and reliable software aligned with product and infrastructure roadmaps. - Cloud Native Ecosystem: Understanding of Kubernetes, container security, and service mesh within Azure/AWS environments. 

- DevEx Metrics: Familiarity with tracking DORA metrics and Developer Experience (DevEx) signals to measure the platform's impact on velocity and quality.

About the role: 

As a Platform Security Engineer, you are a developing security professional building expertise in securing cloud-native infrastructure, container platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and product services within the Platform Engineering organization. You take ownership of moderately complex security tasks with increasing autonomy while receiving guidance on architectural decisions and strategic direction. Your focus is the security posture of our platform and product infrastructure — the container orchestration layer, service mesh, observability stack, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure that engineering teams build and deploy on.

Your contribution will be: 

• You implement and maintain security controls across the platform, including container orchestration security policies, network segmentation, role-based access controls, and admission control mechanisms. 
• You manage container image scanning and enforce image policies in CI/CD pipelines and cluster admission, ensuring only vetted and signed images reach production environments.

To be successful, we think you need: 

Minimum Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, DevSecOps, application security, or related field. 
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure or AWS). 
• Working knowledge of container orchestration security concepts in Kubernetes: pod security, role-based access control, network policies, admission controllers. 
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and understanding of how to secure IaC workflows. 
• Understanding of CI/CD pipeline security: dependency scanning, SAST/SCA integration, artifact integrity.
• Understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks, OWASP).

The AML Operations team takes care of the operational aspects of financial crime risk identification matters for Luno's global business. You will work in a fast paced environment, collaborating with other business units, including Engineering, Product and Legal teams, servicing the business on an international level together with the teams from Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and the United States.

Your mission will be:

• Agile execution on key projects and operational delivery of work within the Transaction Monitoring Team, specifically the execution of transaction monitoring alerts, regulatory reporting activities and regulatory requests.

• Collaborating with the wider Anti-Financial Crime team to support ongoing investigations, queries and analytics;
• Supporting the AML Operations Manager in the planning and oversight of day to day team tasks;
• Working with the Compliance Advisory team to ensure that our operations are regulatory compliant and manage the implementation of new regulations or changes to existing regulations;
• External and internal stakeholder management in conjunction with the AML Operations Manager and Head of Anti-Financial Crime;
• Supporting external and internal compliance audits; 
• Supporting Luno’s compliance efforts across multiple geographies; and
• Supporting the business with AML operations related queries, including triaging received queries and resolution of questions pertaining to Luno’s compliance procedures.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A degree or diploma from a recognised tertiary institution
• A minimum of 5 years work experience in an Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Terrorist Financing related field
• Strong analytical mindset 
• Ability to adapt within a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and experience in process writing and documenting outcomes of reviews and investigations 
• High proficiency in English (please ensure that your application is in English)
• If not a South African citizen, an existing, valid permit to work in South Africa
• Entrepreneurial, strong sense of responsibility and very high level of integrity
• Solid interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
• Friendly, transparent, articulate and driven to succeed
• Familiarity with crypto-currencies will be highly advantageous
