An overview of this role
As Engineering Manager, Infrastructure Platforms at GitLab, you’ll focus on building and supporting a high-performing team that keeps our platforms secure, reliable, and scalable. Your primary responsibility is to hire, coach, and develop team members, and to create an environment where they can do their best work while delivering strong results.
You’ll partner closely with Product Managers and Engineering leaders across GitLab to translate business goals and customer needs into resilient infrastructure platforms that power all our offerings, including GitLab.com, GitLab Dedicated, and self-managed deployments. You and your globally distributed team will work in an agile and asynchronous way to evolve how GitLab operates core platform components, improve system reliability and performance, and support new product capabilities at scale.
In this role, you’ll balance hands-on technical leadership with people management. You’ll guide architecture and design discussions, help your team navigate complex tradeoffs, and ensure we operate GitLab with a strong focus on security, performance, and availability. You’ll also be part of the Incident Management on-call rotation, collaborating with reliability engineers and development teams to meet availability goals and continually improve how we respond to and learn from incidents.
What you'll do
- Hire, lead, and support a high-performing Infrastructure Platforms team, creating an environment where GitLab team members can do their best work and deliver strong results.
- Connect business goals and customer needs with sound engineering by partnering closely with Product Managers and other Engineering Managers to define and deliver scalable infrastructure platforms.
- Own agile delivery for your team, including planning, prioritization, and execution of projects that improve how we operate GitLab.com, GitLab Dedicated, and self-managed offerings.
- Guide the security, reliability, performance, and scalability of core platform components, working with your team to design, review, and iterate on solutions.
- Collaborate across Infrastructure Platforms, other Infrastructure groups, Support, and Customer Success to ensure our platforms meet the needs of teams that run and support GitLab.
- Dive into technical discussions and reviews, helping to unblock complex issues and translating technical trade-offs into clear context for non-technical stakeholders.
- Encourage continuous improvement in how we run our services, including quality, observability, incident response, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in the Incident Management on-call rotation, partnering with reliability and development teams to help ensure availability goals for GitLab.com are met.
What you'll bring
- Experience leading infrastructure, platform, or development teams at scale, with a track record of building high-performing, values-aligned teams.
- Excellent technical background, including strong infrastructure and platforms experience and familiarity with Kubernetes, Go(lang), and continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
- Hands-on background in distributed storage, replication, or data durability at production scale
- Familiarity with performance engineering -- benchmarking, profiling, and scalability as standard practice
- Ability to hire, develop, and coach team members, creating an environment where people can thrive and deliver meaningful results.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration skills, including the ability to partner with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and other stakeholders to align on goals and outcomes.
- Ability to deep dive into complex technical issues and translate them into clear, actionable language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing remote, globally distributed teams and working effectively in an all-remote, asynchronous environment.
- Passion for open source and developer tools, with a commitment to GitLab's values, inclusive culture, and high-performance expectations.

Infrastructure Platforms is responsible for ensuring that GitLab operates, delivers, and scales efficiently across all offerings, including GitLab.com, GitLab Dedicated, and self-managed customers. We own key platform and infrastructure services that other GitLab teams and customers depend on every day, focusing on reliability, performance, security, and scalability. Our team operates fully remotely and collaborates asynchronously across multiple regions, leveraging GitLab's values of transparency and open communication. We face the challenge of running and evolving a consumer-scale, mission-critical platform while continuously improving how we operate GitLab, and feeding those learnings back into the product to improve the overall customer experience. The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of the United States only. This range is intended to reflect the role's base salary rate in locations throughout the US. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, alignment with market data, and geographic location. The base salary range does not include any bonuses, equity, or benefits. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.

What will you do
DoubleVerify is seeking a Sr Technical Program Manager to drive successful delivery of complex software projects. You'll orchestrate cross-functional collaboration, keep projects on track, and ensure stakeholders stay informed while continuously improving engineering processes. The ideal candidate will be tech and AI savvy, proactive, highly communicative, and a team player and gets things done.
- Own end-to-end execution for assigned software projects, understanding business value, critical paths, and milestones
- Build and maintain project timelines
- Drive project kickoffs and cross-team steering meetings
- Manage dependencies across teams and communicate handoffs to external stakeholders
- Provide regular written / verbal status updates utilizing automation combined with strategic thinking to provide updates on timing, risk, and action items
- Own meeting lifecycle: create agendas, facilitate discussions, capture action items with ownership
- Follow up proactively on action items and hold owners accountable
- Drive meetings toward clear outcomes, keeping conversations focused
- Lead go/no-go meetings with engineering, QA, and product stakeholders
- Assess and optimize engineering processes to drive team efficiency
- Coach teams on Agile practices and audit scrum ceremonies for continuous improvement
- Support and facilitate planning processes
What will you do
- 5+ years of technical program management experience in software development
- Proactive mindset with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proven track record delivering complex, cross-functional programs on time
- Strong project management skills: timeline development, risk management, stakeholder communication
- Experience using AI for automation
- Expert proficiency with Jira
- Deep familiarity with Agile/Scrum and experience coaching teams

- Lead the design and implementation of complex, distributed software systems in production.
- Work closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to translate business needs into practical, scalable architectures.

What we expect

- Experience designing and operating distributed systems, including messaging or streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, Spark).
- Solid understanding of distributed databases (and non-distributed) such as Postgres, Cassandra, SingleStore, Clikhouse or similar technologies.
- Deep knowledge of engineering best practices: CI/CD, DevOps, testing, security, and agile development.
- Proven experience working with production environments, including deployment pipelines, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance ideal architecture with real-world constraints.
- Natural technical leadership: able to influence, mentor, and collaborate without relying on authority.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
