Responsibilities

We're looking for a hands-on Platform/Observability Engineer to join our infrastructure team. You'll own and evolve our observability stack - from logging pipelines and tracing to metrics and alerting - across a multi-datacenter, Kubernetes-based environment. This is a production-first role: you'll be expected to ship, iterate, and improve systems under real delivery pressure, not just design them on paper.
You'll work closely with other infra and product engineering teams to improve observability coverage, reduce operational toil, and help the broader organization adopt better practices.

• Designing, deploying, and maintaining production observability stacks (logs, metrics, traces)

• Scaling observability infrastructure across multiple data centers and Kubernetes clusters

• Owning logging pipeline architecture and refactoring efforts

• Managing EKS upgrades, node exporters, agents, and collectors

Requirements

Core technical experience:

• 8+ years of industry experience

• Solid hands-on production experience with observability systems

• Strong plus - familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Kafka, Vector, and VictoriaMetrics (vmagent, alerting rules)

• Experience with logging pipelines: design, deployment, and refactoring

• Understanding of distributed tracing and SPM (Service Performance Monitoring) built on top of tracing

• Experience with Kubernetes cluster lifecycle management (EKS preferred)

• Practical knowledge of storage trade-offs for observability data at scale

Nice to have  

• Experience using AI to automate infrastructure or observability tasks (e.g., automated RCA, PR generation, deployment workflows)

• Familiarity with AI-assisted tooling selection and workflow integration

• Experience with MCP (custom or open-source implementations)

• Background in cloud account or environment migrations

• Experience preparing infrastructure for compliance/audit processes

• Understanding network architecture, troubleshooting and incident resolution skills in Production environment, writing Post-mortems.

• Experience with containers and Kubernetes (installation and configuration of operators). 

• Basic knowledge of one or more high-level programming languages, such as Python, Golang, Java

We are looking for a Distributed Systems Engineer with experience in building high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications. You will be responsible for building API interfaces (for customers, UI team etc). You will be responsible for building a high performance queuing/storage engine. You will collaborate with UI, connectivity and DevOps teams to come up with elegant solutions to complex problems. You will work in a polyglot environment where you can learn new languages and technologies whilst working with an enthusiastic team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience

• Experience building on top of Linux kernel networking primitives – netfilter, nftables, eBPF, tc, network namespaces, etc

• Experience with large-scale distributed data pipelines, from data structuring to efficient querying to data analysis

• Experience of working with public cloud infrastructure providers (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud)

• Understanding of Kubernetes concepts

What Is The Role:

As part of the Platform Engineering department, the Traffic team is crafting, building, and improving the multi-cloud platform at scale for Elastic Cloud Hosted and Serverless. We grow and mature our distributed network services and solutions for multiple cloud service provider platforms. We are built on Kubernetes, Go/Scala, and custom orchestration architectures. In your daily life with us, you will participate in coding, innovating technical designs, crafting solutions, improving resilience, and prioritizing security, bug fixes, and features. For example, Debugging Azure Networking for Elastic Cloud Serverless is part of our efforts, and we want your experience to contribute to a truly exceptional customer experience!

What You Will Be Doing:

• Taking an engineering approach in leading technical initiatives for automating network engineering efforts to guarantee the reliability of the global Elastic infrastructure. .
• Growing our global Platform infrastructure to meet the increasing scaling demands by developing and maintaining software, codebases, tooling and automations.
• Collaborating in an environment with an inclusive approach, and focusing on operational perfection which uplifts others.
• Preventing repeated customer impact in response to major incidents and prioritised problem management. Our on call rotation is spread well, and we address complex customer concerns too.

What You Bring:

• 10+ years in Software Engineering with product success in delivering Cloud network solutions. You collaborate with engineers as an authority in identifying, implementing and delivering solutions. Experience in public cloud, Go and managed Kubernetes services is advantageous.
• Success and lessons of experiences from striving for 'progress not perfection' in the name of Platform reliability. We want to hear about your customer first approach in solving operational problems for both today and the future.
• Passion for developing solutions that involve inclusive communication methods to grow and strengthen partner and team relationships. Examples of working in distributed teams or working remotely is desirable.

Bonus Points:

You don't need to have all of these items, but these represent the types of work you will do as a Software Engineer at Elastic.

• You have designed and built a SaaS product in a public cloud ideally built using Infrastructure-as-Code tooling such as Crossplane or Terraform
• You have built Kubernetes-at-scale infrastructure, ideally across multiple cloud providers, and the vital automation to support it.

About the role

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and operate database optimization services in Go and C++.
• Develop features for query analysis, index recommendations, and automated performance tuning that deliver measurable database cost savings.
• Extend and maintain integrations with PostgreSQL and MySQL protocols, cloud database services (RDS, Cloud SQL, Azure Database).
• Implement query parsing, plan analysis, and recommendation algorithms that identify optimization opportunities.
• Develop monitoring and alerting systems for database performance metrics, connection health, and cost tracking.
