Associate Solution Engineer
The Role:

In the Neo4j Sales Engineering team, we are technologists who enjoy working directly with customers in a variety of industries, and with a wide range of technologies and architectures. We provide engineering and architecture leadership and development for the Neo4j-based solutions our customers are building.
The responsibilities of an Associate Sales Engineer cover a variety of tasks, from assisting in the discovery of customer needs to helping transform those needs into technical designs. You will work closely with senior team members to learn how to demonstrate Neo4j technology, participate in whiteboarding sessions, and engage with technical stakeholders to understand their problems and map them to solutions. The Associate Sales Engineer understands business terminology, thinks in technical terms and combines both sides during the entire engagement
In this role, you will develop your expertise in Graph Databases while learning how Neo4j fits within a Modern Data Architecture alongside Big Data platforms, NoSQL stores, and cloud services, and how to position other architectural components in a graph-based solution.
We are open to recent graduates or early-career candidates who can demonstrate strong foundational skills and a passion for learning, even if they do not meet every requirement listed.
What You'll Do:
- Collaborative Support: Partner with the Neo4j sales team to assist in all phases of the pre-sales process.
- Technical Positioning: Be an integral part of the Neo4j sales team, helping to persuade prospective Neo4j users of the benefits and advantages of graph database technology.
- Technical Demonstrations: Deliver product demonstrations that highlight the benefits and advantages of graph database technology.
- Prototype Development: Assist in designing and building prototype solutions and "Proof of Concepts" (POCs) that demonstrate functional power with Neo4j.
- Solution Architecture: Support the design of solution architectures that address the technical requirements of customer projects.
- Proposal Preparation: Help prepare technical solution proposals and documentation for customer engineering and management teams.
- Discovery & Qualification: Assist in technical discovery sessions to understand prospective customers' environments and needs.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Junior Pre-Sales, Professional Services, Support, or Technical Consulting).
- Data Fundamentals: Understanding of database technologies and data modeling concepts; experience with SQL or NoSQL is ideal.
- Software Engineering: Solid software engineering principles and proficiency in at least one programming language: Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Problem Solving: A passion for learning new technologies and solving complex technical problems.
- Communication: Strong written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to small groups.
- Sales Awareness: A basic understanding of the sales process and a proactive approach to keeping technical tasks on schedule.
- Adaptability: Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a remote, cross-functional organization.
- Travel: Ability and willingness to travel.

- Graph DB related experience ie Neo4j or other Property Graph or RDF platforms.
- Data Science, AI/MLData integration: ETL, Virtualisation, federation
- BI and data visualization (Tableau, Qlik, viz libraries: D3, viz.js, Linkurious...)

The Role -
As an Engagement Manager you will:
- Foster positive relationships with our customers as their primary contact, leading Professional Services engagements
- Assist clients in implementing Neo4j technology by leveraging our professional services effectively and managing all delivery-related activities
- Ensure that the Statement of Work or Order Form terms and conditions are respected
- Manage engagement budgeted hours, travel, and expenses, and coordinate with Finance for accurate billing
- Identify up-selling and cross-selling opportunities with the engagement team
- Identify engagement-related risks and communicate with stakeholders to secure successful mitigation plans
- Prepare and share reports on project performance, including quality, schedule, and budget control
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (Sales, Solution Engineering, Support, Product, Customer Success) to ensure seamless engagement delivery and alignment
- Support project scoping and estimation during the pre-sales phase by contributing delivery plans, timelines, and risk assessments
- Drive continuous improvement of delivery processes, methodologies, and best practices within Professional Services
- Monitor customer satisfaction throughout the engagement and take proactive steps to maintain high CSAT
- Contribute to capacity planning by forecasting resource needs and collaborating with resource management and forecasting
- Mentor and support consultants and project managers to elevate delivery quality and consistency
- When relevant, ensure proper knowledge transfer to customers and internal teams as part of the engagement
- Participate in internal reporting and forecasting activities related to pipeline, utilization, and revenue
- Promote adoption of Neo4j technology by helping customers progress through maturity stages and by identifying blockers to adoption
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and governance requirements across all engagements
- Represent Professional Services in internal initiatives, contributing insights from the field to help improve products and delivery offerings
Job Requirements
- Proven experience as an Engagement Manager
- Background in professional services and/or customer service is a plus
- Proficient in MS Office and CRM/project management software
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Customer-oriented approach
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Problem-solving aptitude
- Experience managing smaller or even larger projects is a plus
