The Opportunity

Mindgrub is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead and scale our entire engineering organization. This is a senior leadership role with accountability for engineering delivery, performance, and growth across all client engagements.

This role operates as a Director-of-Directors position. You will lead Directors of Web, Mobile, and Cloud Engineering while partnering closely with peer leaders across Project Management, Quality Assurance, Product Strategy, Design, and Managed Services Operations. You will report to the Vice President of Professional Services and play a critical role in shaping how Mindgrub delivers high-quality software at scale.

You will own engineering delivery from early sales solutioning through successful project launch and execution. As Mindgrub continues to grow, this leader will also help expand our technical solution offerings, particularly in AI-enabled delivery, cloud platforms, and emerging technologies.

This role is ideal for a senior engineering leader with deep experience in agency or consultancy environments who can balance technical excellence, delivery accountability, people leadership, and business partnership.

• Engineering Leadership
  • Accountable for the performance, quality, and scalability of the Mindgrub engineering organization
  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering organization of 40+ engineers across web, mobile, and cloud 
  • Manage a blended delivery model including full-time staff, contractors, and delivery partners
  • Embrace, mentor, and grow engineering directors and managers
  • Drive engagement, retention, and career growth within the engineering organization

• Engineering Performance & Enablement
  • Own engineering productivity and efficiency outcomes
  • Partner with Product, Design, QA, and Project Management to influence performance across the delivery organization
  • Scale human-centered engineering performance through insights-based action and enablement
  • Improve estimation accuracy and reduce delivery variance on projects
  • Lead the identification and implementation of improvements to tools, processes, and workflows that increase team effectiveness
  • Leverage AI and automation pragmatically to improve delivery quality, velocity, and operational efficiency

  • Partner with sales and account teams from early opportunity identification through project launch
  • Lead technical solutioning for complex enterprise engagements, including strategy, architecture, technical plans, and resource plans

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions

Requirements

• Must Have
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience with 10+ progressive leadership responsibility
  • Experience leading engineering organizations of 50+ people, including managing managers
  • Experience managing contractors and delivery partners as part of a blended delivery model
  • Consulting, agency, or professional services background building large, enterprise, deeply integrated applications
  • Proven ability to develop end-to-end solutioning: strategy, architecture, technical plans, and resource plans
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary projects across a range of sizes and complexity levels
  • Demonstrated ability to engage at a principal or architect level in technical discussions and decision making
  • Technology-agnostic mindset with ability to lead across diverse stacks (we work in .NET, JavaScript/React, Python, cloud platforms, and mobile)
  • Strong client-facing skills with experience engaging enterprise stakeholders from sales through delivery
  • Ability to work East Coast hours
  • Ability to travel to our Baltimore HQ and other locations regularly (~15%)

  • Hands-on experience in AI technologies, including building AI-powered tech, integrating AI into tech stacks, and leveraging AI to improve how work gets done
  • Experience scaling or launching new service offerings within an agency or consultancy
  • Financial acumen, including understanding of utilization, margin, delivery cost, and the financial implications of staffing and delivery decisions
  • Experience executing dynamic resource planning across multiple concurrent projects, including frequent reprioritization

Compensation

• $160,000 - $180,000 USD
• Base compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including skills, education, certifications, and overall experience for this role.

This role follows a day shift schedule, working from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with designated days off on Sunday & Monday. 

The EHS Supervisor holds responsibility for the enforcement of the Home Chef Safety, Health, and Environmental (EH&S) policies for all departments and all employees in the plant.

Detailed Responsibilities

ExecutesEnvironmental Health and Safety Policies, Programs, and Systems:

• Executes the strategy for the development and sustainability of the safety culture in the plant
• Leads implementation of all environmental health and safety policies
• Oversees implementation of internal OSHA compliance program, including internal assessments, corrective actions, and coaching
• Maintains the behavioral observation program and is responsible for conducting observations to ensure all safety specific policies are being followed (e.g. lockout tag-out, PIT operation, fall protection, etc.) under the direction of the site’s SafetyManager and the National Safety Manager
• Communicates and rolls out all  new policies, ensuring all impacted employees are informed and understand expectations
• Assist the site in maintaining the Process Safety Management (PSM) program and environmental considerations for the refrigeration units.
• Understand the sites’ waste streams and coordinate with relevant plant functions to efficiently “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.”

Manages Training

• Partners with plant and national training resources to ensure all required safety training is conducted for new hires and annual re-training for existing employees.
• Maintains all records pertaining to the licensing of Powered Industrial Trucks including conducting observations of understanding for all users prior to licensing or relicensing
• Conducts periodic review of temp agency safety trainings to ensure compliance

Identifies and Leads Safety Team

• Mentors and coaches EHSTeam of 4 people per shift representative across departments and positions (e.g. associates, leads, supervisors)
• Ensure EHS Leads are executing work tasks and provide support cross functionally for all EHS related issues
• Plans and conducts regular safety meetings (at least monthly) with EHS team to discuss safety issues and provide targeted training to team members
• Ensures issues discussed in the safety meetings are adequately communicated to all members of the Home Chef Team
• Holds EHS team members accountable for escalating safety issues identified by any member of the Home Chef team 
• Promotes employee engagement in the Safety process.
• Participates in corporate safety team to share best practices across Home Chef plants

Incident Support and Assists with Root Causes Analyses in Response to Safety Incidents 

• Responsible for off-shift coverage as an escalation point and resource for addressing safety incidents in the plant.
• Partners with plant leadership on all near miss and recordable incident investigations and has oversight over the triaging of individuals as dictated by the situation at hand.
• Assists in Incident Review Board (IRB) meetings with the plant leadership team to conduct root cause analyses on all safety incidents and determine corrective and preventive actions to manage and prevent future incidents. 
• Serves as liaison between management and maintenance in execution of action items related to safety  
• Partners closely with Human Resources to effectively manage worker compensation by coordinating doctors visits, determining time off requirements, and setting and communicating any physical limitations upon the employee’s return to work.
• Has constant communication with injured associates, Workers Comp adjuster/s and medical facilities.
• Assist in the creation of job safety analysis (JSAs) processes plant-wide.

General Responsibilities:

• Follow the facility GMPs and lead by example as a member of the site leadership team
• Backfill for the Safety Manager when department head is not available
• Support the efforts of the company to maintain our food safety system (SQF) and quality programs

Qualifications
