Role & Team
Our engineering team is growing! We are looking for multiple senior full stack engineers to join our web product team(s) and help us scale our product suite.
As a Senior Software Engineer at Overstory, you will have a direct impact on our mission by building new capabilities and features that in turn enable utility companies to more effectively manage risks associated with climate change, wildfires and storms. We will also look to you to effectively partner with product, design and tech leads on key initiatives and mentor other engineers from time to time.
Time zone requirement: Europe (GMT/WET, CET, EET) and Eastern North America (NST, AST, EST)
What You'll Do
Over the next 6-12 months you will contribute to:
- Performance & scalability: ensuring that our product can handle 3x year-over-year growth
- Velocity: accelerating time to value of new product capabilities
- Leverage: reducing the amount of manual work required to ingest vegetation analysis into our customer facing applications
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience of full stack development across the following (or similar) technologies: *Python/FastAPI, React/Typescript, Postgres DB, data pipelines; (*Python experience a core requirement)
- Recent experience working in a build it, run it environment (GCP, cloud run, grafana, k8s) - or similar
- Experience working in a high growth scaleup environment across distributed, remote teams
- Deeply committed to tackling the climate crisis
- Possess a product mindset; deep understanding of leveraging technology to directly impact business outcomes
- Proven ability to design and implement scalable and resilient systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively collaborate in a cross-functional team environment
- Committed to ongoing education, perpetual learning, mentorship; interested in evolving technologies and industry trends

Role & Team
As a Senior Engineer, you will have a direct impact on the development of core geospatial products and internal data-processing and annotation tools at Overstory.
Your breadth of skills will allow you to set a technical vision for the development of the web applications, ETL pipelines, and backend services owned by these teams.
You’ll partner with product managers, external resources, and your team members to execute this vision.

What You’ll Do
- Explore best practices to combine coding agents with software craftsmanship and teach other engineers these practices
- Optimize the orchestration of several object detection and image alignment models
- Design and maintain robust data and feature pipelines for millions of geospatial entities
- Contribute to the technical vision for the development of our internal annotation and QA web applications
- Work closely with your Product Manager to discover and propose new products to solve use cases such as anticipating the impact of an outage at a particular locatio
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a senior software engineer
- Skilled in designing ETL pipelines with near-real-time orchestration, in Python.
- Strong background building and maintaining scalable web-applications with React, FastAPI, PostgreSQL
- Experience with XP practices such as TDD or trunk based development. The team would be new to these practices
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to various audience
Nice To Have
- Experience with the Geospatial ecosystem such as PostGIS, Geopandas or Deck.GL
- Experience with Dagster, Airflow or similar orchestration frameworks
- Experience with building web-applications tailored for repeatable human or agentic workflows

Role & Team
As a Staff Engineer, you will work across multiple teams to evolve a suite of web and internal tools that enable utility companies to more effectively manage risks associated with climate change and wildfires.
We are seeking improvement in the following areas:
- Performance & Scalability: ensure that our product can handle 3x YoY growth
- Accelerate time to value of new product capabilities
- Reduce the amount of manual work required to ingest vegetation analysis into our customer facing tools
At Overstory, our Staff Engineers are hands-on technical leaders whose influence extends beyond their team either through leading cross team initiatives, making technology choices for critical aspects of our technology platform or solving for critical technical challenges within teams enabling our business to achieve our rapid scaling plans (growing 3x YoY).
This role will start off being primarily team scoped solving critical scaling challenges. There is scope to expand remit as we grow.

What You'll Do
Technical Skills:
- Broad and deep understanding of system design with an ability to select the correct paradigm/technology given the situation and constraints.
- Develops a deep understanding of our business domains and how technology can be applied to drive business impact.

- Resolves complex technical challenges with innovative solutions.
Ownership:
- Leads cross-team initiatives or leads on architectural system design at team level

VML MAP’s Agentic AI Lab helps some of the world’s largest brands turn the AI shift into tangible tools, applications, agents, demos, and prototypes.
We are now on the look out for a student assistant to join the Lab as our front-end profile for AI-powered experiences.
This is a hands-on role at the intersection of product design, AI, rapid prototyping, and interface craft. You will turn ideas, Figma designs, and early concepts into working digital experiences that feel polished, responsive, and demo-ready.
This is not about writing code from a perfectly defined ticket, but about working in a fast, exploratory environment where ideas move quickly from concept to working prototype.
We are looking for someone who enjoys figuring things out, cares about the final experience, and knows how to use AI-assisted development tools without losing control of the craft.

What will your day look like?
You will build front-end experiences for user-facing AI solutions across industries including automotive, retail, financial services, and enterprise tools. The work may involve digital products, mobile-like experiences, web apps, internal tools, live demos, and physical-digital journeys.
Your role will be to make ideas work in practice — from how the interface behaves, to how data moves through the experience, to how we connect the front-end to an AI service.
The work is exploratory: sometimes you will receive a clear Figma design, other times a rough idea or half-working prototype that needs to be shaped technically.
You will also:
- Build front-end prototypes, apps, and demo experiences for AI product concepts.
- Translate Figma designs into polished, responsive interfaces with clean, reusable components.
- Work with APIs, mock data, and back-end integrations to connect experiences to AI services and agents.
- Use vibe coding and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate development while maintaining quality.
- Debug and refine prototypes until they are stable enough for client demos and product handover.
Who are you going to work with?
You will work closely with the AI Lead, and collaborate closely with product designers, AI consultants, AI engineers, and other developers on building the front-end of AI experiences: from prototype, to demo, to product-ready interface
Along the way, you will learn about the back-end side of AI products, how agents are built, and how user-facing experiences connect to the systems behind them.
What do you bring to the table?
We are hiring for a mindset, not a background.
You may be studying computer science, software engineering, interaction design, creative technology, philosophy, or something else entirely. Two of our AI leads came from philosophy — so the right profile is not always the obvious one on paper.
You should however be strong in front-end development, but also interested in the product and system side of what you build — someone who asks not only “does it work?” but also “does it feel good?” and “how is it powered behind the scenes?”
You should also have:
- Strong front-end skills with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (preferably TypeScript), and frameworks such as React, Next.js, or Vue.
- Ability to work from Figma designs and translate them into polished interfaces.
- A good eye for interface quality, spacing, layout, and interaction details.
- Experience or strong interest in vibe coding / AI-assisted development tools (ideally Claude Code or Codex).
- Comfort working with APIs and basic front-end/back-end connections — or strong curiosity to learn.
- A mindset that combines speed with quality.
- Examples of previous front-end work, prototypes, or side projects.
Nice to have:
- Experience deploying prototypes or AI-powered product experiences.
- Experience connecting products to AI APIs, LLMs, agents, or automation workflows.
- Basic understanding of back-end development, databases, serverless functions, or agent frameworks such as ADK.
- Experience with Tailwind CSS, component libraries, or design systems.
- Interest in product design, UX, AI-native interfaces, and physical-digital experiences.

The Role
We are looking for a curious, product-focused, and innovative Senior Frontend Developer to join our team and help shape the user experience of our platform.
This is a hands-on senior role in a small, collaborative team where you will combine technical leadership with active development. You’ll build high-quality frontend solutions while helping guide technical decisions, improve development practices, and elevate the team’s engineering standards.
Working closely with Product Owners and designers, you will transform ideas into scalable, user-centered solutions and contribute to the long-term evolution of our frontend architecture.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain scalable, high-quality frontend applications using React and modern development tools
- Take ownership of frontend architecture and key technical decisions
- Act as a technical sounding board for the team through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners and designers to deliver intuitive and impactful user experiences
- Continuously improve performance, maintainability, and developer experience
- Identify opportunities to simplify, optimize, and modernize the frontend stack
- Contribute to a team culture focused on ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
AI & Innovation
We actively explore how AI and emerging technologies can enhance both our product and our development process.
In this role, you will be encouraged to:
- Experiment with and integrate AI-powered capabilities where they create real product value
- Use AI-assisted tools to improve development workflows and productivity

Who You Are
You are an experienced frontend engineer who enjoys ownership, collaboration, and solving complex problems. You care about building solutions that are maintainable, scalable, and meaningful for users.
You likely:
- Have strong experience with React and modern frontend development
- Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code
- Are comfortable owning technical decisions and driving solutions forward
- Have experience mentoring colleagues or improving engineering practices within a team
- Think in terms of product impact and user experience, not just implementation
- Are proactive, self-driven, and thrive in small, autonomous teams
- Stay curious and keep up with new technologies and industry trends
- Have hands-on experience with—or strong interest in—AI in real-world development
