About the role:

As an Engineering Manager you will collaborate with your team to work on the video technology platform. Your time will probably be divided between recruiting for your team, developing strong and productive relationships with them and the stakeholders, and networking both inside and beyond the organisation. You will work closely with partner teams including Product, providing and receiving feedback effectively and aligning on shared deliverables as needed.

Who you are:

Required Qualifications

• You have 10+ years of experience in the web development industry
• You have 4+ years experience and success leading engineering teams and you’ve done hiring, managing performance, supported your team members career development, and provided coaching
• You have excellent communication skills so you’re able to motivate and inspire people
• You can effectively hire and retain a successful team
• You’re goal oriented; you’re able to focus and guide others in accomplishing their work objectives
• You are thoughtful and emphatic leader and so you can effectively partner with others in the organization
• You are adaptive and know how to choose an approach appropriate for the moment
• You understand how to give and receive supportive, constructive feedback 
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or similar

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in dynamic startup-like environments
• Experienced growth from early stage to a mature business
• Nice to have: familiarity with Django or other modern Python web frameworks, as well as familiarity with React or other modern JavaScript/TypeScript stacks

About the role:

We’re looking for a Principal Engineer / Product Architect to lead the next evolution of Vumedi’s product architecture and technical direction. This is a hands-on, high-impact role - shaping how millions of doctors discover, learn, and collaborate through intelligent, scalable systems.

You’ll be both architect and builder, working directly with the CTO and engineering leaders across our US and Croatia teams to bring ambitious ideas from prototype to production.

What you’ll do: 

• Architect the future of Vumedi’s platform - from scalable video systems to AI-powered content discovery and personalized learning experiences.
• Prototype and build AI workflows and agents powered by LLMs (Large Language Models) to transform how doctors interact with knowledge, surface insights, and discover content.
• Work closely with Product, Data, and AI teams to build, deploy, and monitor intelligent services (classification, search relevance, personalization, summarization).
• Define architectural standards across backend, frontend, and infrastructure layers - ensuring reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
• Partner with engineering leadership to drive system migrations and modernization (Python/Django backend, React frontend, AWS infrastructure).
• Mentor engineers across pods and raise the technical bar through design reviews, prototypes, and shared best practices.
• Lead technical exploration of new tools - from vector databases and RAG frameworks to real-time video personalization - to keep Vumedi on the edge of applied AI.

This role is ideal for someone who loves to zoom out on system architecture and zoom in on code - someone who can imagine what Vumedi’s platform looks like in five years, then open their editor and start building it.

Who you are:

• 9+ years of experience building and scaling software systems, ideally in consumer, data, or AI products.
• Proven success as a Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or Architect leading major system designs end-to-end.
• Expertise in designing distributed systems and cloud architectures on AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, ECS, RDS, etc.).
• Experience with LLMs, AI agents, or AI-enabled workflows — building, integrating, or orchestrating intelligent systems.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, API design, caching, and asynchronous event-driven systems.
• Passion for hands-on prototyping and bridging product ideas with technical feasibility.
• Clear communicator who thrives in cross-functional settings and mentors others through influence, not authority.
• Nice to have: familiarity with Django or other modern Python web frameworks, as well as familiarity with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript stacks.

About the role:

In this role you’ll work with the engineering team in Zagreb and cooperate with our product team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast growing company and help us build products that make a major impact on the global physician audience. Our digital platform is at the heart of our company and is the base on top of which the company is built. We work on a modern technology stack which is primarily based on Django as a web backend framework, deployed on AWS cloud platform solution.

What you will do:

• Work closely with the engineering and product team on specifying and executing projects on our platform
• In the implementation process, guide more junior team members and clearly communicate any issues and/or roadblocks encountered
• Write automated tests that will cover the new functionality
• Peer-review other team member’s designs and pull requests
• Stay on top of technology trends, especially ones related to our stack. Evaluate and compare possible technology updates and/or new technologies to incorporate in our business. 
• Participate in roadmap discussions, influence what and how we will build. Suggest improvements for our platform and processes
• Collaborate and communicate with other business units on particular projects of interest

Who you are:

You have been in software engineering for 5+ years and have honed your craft, ideally using scripting languages. From this experience you have developed broad competencies, technical skills and you use frameworks to build out products and implement business processes. You have the drive to solve complex problems, and the ability to evaluate tradeoffs concerning limited resources. You have a passion for technology, data and problem solving. 

You Have:

• Experience solving difficult technical problems: Building out new complex features and refactoring existing functionality for extendibility
• Analytical ability: Our platform is complex and over the years of your experience you have tackled issues that required understanding of interoperability of several components: From ways overload on one part of the system influences others, logs correlation and analysis
• Communication skills: You can explain the trade offs when building complex solutions to non-technical colleagues. Ability to analyze scope vs. cost of requirements in order to suggest the best solution
• Mentorship: You’re able to mentor junior engineers, navigating them through the onboarding processes as well as through projects by helping them grow technically, gain visibility and communication skills within the company

Skills and Qualifications:

• Expert in at least one major web framework
• Advanced understanding of relational databases
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems
• BONUSES: Working experience of one major JavaScript framework; familiarity with AWS platform and its core features; DevOps knowledge
