We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with deep expertise in Databricks to join our advanced analytics and data engineering team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing large-scale data solutions on the Databricks platform, supporting business intelligence, advanced analytics, and machine learning initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and high-performance data pipelines and architectures.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow);
• Architect and implement data lakehouse solutions, ensuring data quality, governance, and security;
• Optimize data workflows for performance and cost efficiency on Databricks and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP);
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights;
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting best practices in data engineering and Databricks usage;
• Develop and maintain documentation, data models, and technical standards;
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in production data pipelines and environments;
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and Databricks ecosystem;

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field;
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience with Databricks (including Spark, Delta Lake, and MLflow);
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or Scala for data processing;
• Deep understanding of distributed data processing, data warehousing, and ETL concepts;
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure Data Lake, AWS S3, or Google Cloud Storage);
• Solid knowledge of SQL and experience with large-scale relational and NoSQL databases;
• Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code practices for data engineering;
• Experience with data governance, security, and compliance in cloud environments;
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills;
• English: Upper Intermediate level or higher;

About the Role

We are looking for an Analytics Engineer to join our internal Data Management team and help power data-driven decision-making across the organization. In this role, you will design and maintain scalable data models, pipelines, and transformation processes that enable analytics, reporting, and data science initiatives. You will collaborate closely with analysts, data scientists, and engineering teams to ensure reliable, efficient, and well-structured data that supports business insights and strategic initiatives.

What You’ll Do

• Design scalable and reliable data marts and transformation processes that support analytics and reporting needs
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient data solutions
• Develop optimized data models and schemas that enable efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis of large datasets
• Build ETL and ELT pipelines that transform raw data from multiple sources into structured datasets for analytics and reporting

Senior Site Reliability Engineer I

Location

• San Jose, Costa Rica - Remote

• Summary of role

  Own availability, the most important product feature, by continually striving for sustained operational excellence of Sumo’s planet-scale observability and security products.  Work with your global SRE team to optimize operations, increase efficiency in our use of cloud resources and our developer’s time, harden security posture, and increase the feature velocity of our developers.  Work closely with multiple teams on assisted engagements to optimize the operations of their microservices.

  Responsibilities

  • Continually improve the lifecycle of microservices and architectural components from inception and design, through deployment, operation, and refinement.
  • Participate in defining, evolving, and managing SLOs
  • Write code and automation to reduce operational workload, increase efficiency, improve security posture, eliminate toil, and enable Sumo’s developers to deliver features more rapidly.
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
  • Facilitate blame-free root cause analysis meetings for incidents to learn and drive improvement.
  • Participate in and continually improve our global IRC (incident response coordination) for all products.
  • Drive root cause identification and issue resolution with the various teams.
  • Work inside a fast-paced iterative environment.

P-362 - This role is hybrid with 3 days in our Heredia office. 

As a Senior Technical Solutions Engineer, you will provide technical support for Databricks Platform related issues and resolve any challenges involving the Databricks unified analytics platform. You will assist customers in their Databricks journey and provide them with the guidance and knowledge that they need to accomplish value and achieve their strategic goals using our products. They will look to you for answers to everything from basic technical questions to complex architectural scenarios spanning across the entire Big Data ecosystem. You will report to the Senior Manager of Technical Solutions. 

The impact you will have:

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex customer issues related to Databricks platform
• Provide best practices support for custom-built solutions developed by Databricks customers
• Deliver suggestions for improving performance in customer-specific environments
• Assist with issues around third-party integrations with Databricks environment
• Demonstrate and coordinate with engineering and escalation teams to achieve resolution of customer issues and requests
• Participate in the creation and maintenance of company documentation and knowledge articles

What we look for:
