POSITION SUMMARY

The Accountant is responsible for the increasingly complex activities across store inventory, sales audit, accounts receivable, fixed assets,  inventory, revenue, accruals and other areas including the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant financial reports.  Related duties include ensuring ledger entries and account reconciliations are prepared correctly and timely.  This position assists in month-end; quarter-end and year-end closing process and will be responsible for assisting in reporting, analytics and forecasts/budgets.  The Accountant will report to the Manager of Financial Reporting or accounting operations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
• Perform financial analysis and generate conclusions and recommendations
• Ensure compliance to GAAP and company departmental standards and controls
• Comply with legal and ethical standards
• Follow up on all outstanding issues on a timely basis
• Maintain excellent customer service with internal and external partners
• Assist with special projects and department goals
• Proactively identify areas of opportunity /weakness and recommend solutions

QUALIFICATIONS

• One to five years of related financial analysis, audit or accounting experience 
• Understanding of GAAP
• Ability to prepare work timely and accurately
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem solving skills
• Interest in advancement
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and large-scale accounting systems preferred

EDUCATION      

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment in the retail industry. The successful candidate must possess well-rounded accounting background and experience, along with strong analytical and general ledger knowledge. The primary responsibilities will be to perform all detailed general ledger accounting functions and analysis for all channels.
This is a Columbus, OH Office-based position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Performing the day-to-day activities related to the monthly, quarterly and annual closes:  
• Initiating journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information
• Preparing accruals associated with key accounts 
• Preparing monthly income statements and balance sheets
• Reconciling and analyzing balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Partnering with FP&A to perform close activities and review/understand key drivers of the results
• Liaising on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable matters
• Helping to implement and enforce accounting policies and best practices
• Helping prepare and consolidate various ad hoc analyses, reports, and data requests

You must have … 

• BS in Accounting required; MBA a plus, CPA or individual sitting for the CPA Exam preferred
• 3-5 years of accounting experience with progressive growth
• Proficiency working in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization 
• Strong time-management skills, and ability to adhere to tight deadlines during the month-end close process
• Strong analytical and detail-oriented background
• Microsoft D365 experience a plus 
• Retail experience a plus
