The Role:
We are seeking a talented full‑stack, front‑end‑focused engineer specializing in React, TypeScript, and Server‑Side Rendering (SSR) principles to join our growing organization. This role is ideal for an engineer with deep expertise in modern front‑end technologies and a passion for high‑quality delivery.
The right candidate demonstrates a relentless commitment to customer outcomes, leads by example, and thrives in highly collaborative, cross‑functional environments.
Location: This position is remote in Denver, CO. We intend to open an office in Denver and once we do, we will require hybrid attendance onsite at least 9 days each month.
Responsibilities:
- Champion highly functional, iterative delivery partnerships with Product, Design, and Engineering teams
- Build and enhance web applications using React, delivering responsive, accessible, performant, and delightful customer experiences
- Evangelize and promote reusable, local component development using Tailwind design tokens to simplify reuse and maintain consistency
- Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable, robust software solutions
- Partner with domain and data providers to integrate and deliver end‑to‑end solutions iteratively
- Leverage headless CMS platforms and low‑code solutions when appropriate
- Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices through code reviews and mentorship
- Advocate for the customer through experimentation, data‑driven decision making, and continuous feedback
- Stay current with emerging front‑end trends, tools, and best practices to keep the platform modern and competitive
- Contribute to and inspire a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experienceProven expertise building externally facing, highly available UI experiences using React or similar frameworks (e.g., Next.js, Angular)
- Strong experience partnering with UI/UX designers and leveraging design systems, component libraries, charting libraries, and data grids/tables
- Demonstrated track record of collaboration, rapid delivery, and actively supporting teammates through technical challenges
- Deep experience with build optimization and bundling tools
- Solid knowledge of event‑driven architectures, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, WebSockets, and related web communication protocols
- Strong command of front‑end architecture patterns, best practices, and methodologies for large‑scale, customer‑facing applications
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience building applications using a Backend‑for‑Frontend (BFF) architecture and/or serverless (Lambda) functions
- Familiarity with Cloudflare as a CDN and caching layer
- Experience programming in C# and .NET
- Working knowledge of AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure
- Background in FinTech, Financial Services, or other highly regulated industries

Manager, Engineering
We're looking for an Engineering Manager I to lead one of our autonomous feature squads. You'll own the day-to-day engineering leadership of a cross-functional team (1 PM, 1 Designer, 4–5 engineers) responsible for a meaningful area of the Shopmonkey platform. This is not a "project manager with an engineering title" role. You are technical, you are in the code, and you care deeply about how software gets built — not just that it ships. You won't be on the critical path for planned project work, but you'll be deeply involved in guiding your team through every phase of the SDLC: scoping, design, implementation, testing, release, and iteration. Your job is to make your team faster, sharper, and more effective — by coaching, unblocking, and identifying the gaps nobody else sees. You'll also contribute directly to the codebase. Not as a primary feature developer, but as a force multiplier — proactively improving code quality, tackling the work that falls between the cracks, and leading by example when it matters.
Our platform is built on two primary monorepos (backend and frontend) using TypeScript throughout. The stack includes React, Node.js, Next.js, Redux, and Redis on the application side; CockroachDB and ClickHouse for data; Synadia NATS for messaging; and GCP for infrastructure. We use OpenTelemetry and Prometheus for observability, with supporting services in TypeScript and Go. We don't expect expertise across all of these — we're looking for strong fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.
What you will do:
- Lead a feature squad end-to-end: people, process, and technical direction.
- Own performance management for your engineers — regular 1:1s, growth conversations, honest feedback, and formal reviews.
- Partner closely with your PM and Designer to shape quarterly project plans that balance customer value, technical health, and business impact.
- Guide your team through the full SDLC — you should be competent and opinionated at every stage, from system design through production observability.
- Contribute to the codebase as a technical force multiplier: filling gaps, improving quality, and modeling engineering standards.
- Operate within our quarterly planning and 2-week cycle cadence, helping your squad maintain focus and predictability.
- Build and maintain a healthy remote-first team culture — clear communication, strong async habits, and flexibility balanced against team needs.
- Participate in hiring — sourcing, interviewing, and closing engineering talent for your squad and the broader org.
We are looking for people who have:
- 2+ years of formal engineering management experience, leading a team of software engineers through shipping production software.
- A strong technical foundation — you've built and operated production systems and can earn credibility with senior ICs through your technical judgment.
- Proven ability to coach and develop engineers across multiple levels.
- High emotional intelligence and communication skills. You navigate ambiguity, give hard feedback with care, and build trust quickly — especially important in a remote environment.
- Sound business judgment — you understand why the team is building what it's building, and you push back when priorities don't make sense.
- Experience working in cross-functional product teams (PM, Design, Engineering).
- Comfort with remote-first work across time zones. You value flexibility but put team needs first.
In the United States, the range is typically a salary of $145,000 to $180,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. The range provided is Shopmonkey’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as location, experience, training, skills, and abilities. Consult with your Recruiter during the initial call to determine a more targeted range based on these job-related factors. - Deep expertise in LangChain, LangGraph and LangSmith.

This role would play a crucial role in shaping and implementing engineering best practices and ensuring the successful delivery of complex software projects. What would you be doing?
- Build AI-enabled applications leveraging LangChain and LLMs to deliver meaningful, production-ready outcomes for clients.
- Deep expertise in LangChain, LangGraph and LangSmith
- Lead teams through end-to-end delivery across the stack, from backend services to modern web UIs.
- Pair program daily with teammates and clients to share knowledge, improve code quality, and grow together.
- Practice TDD and continuous refactoring to ensure code is reliable, maintainable, and understandable.
- Guide architecture decisions to support scalability, observability, and performance.
- Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and stakeholders to continuously deliver valuable software.
- Coach developers on the team through pairing, mentoring, and modeling healthy engineering culture.
- Influence technical direction beyond the team, working across client orgs and Focused’s internal practices to share lessons, shape approaches, and raise the collective bar.
- Stay curious through experimenting with new patterns in the GenAI space, share what works (and what doesn’t), and help evolve how we build AI-powered software.

- You’re a hands-on, full stack engineer with a strong track record of delivering software in collaborative, agile environments.
- You’ve worked with LangChain (or similar agentic frameworks), and understand how to architect AI-native systems responsibly and effectively.
- You have experience leading engineering teams and feel confident mentoring and supporting other developers.
- You believe that code quality matters, and that TDD and pairing help build better systems and stronger teams.
- You’ve worked across multiple languages or frameworks (e.g., Python, Node, Java, React, Next.js) and are pragmatic about tool selection.
- You’re excited about what’s happening in the AI space but stay focused on delivering value.
- You have experience navigating complex organizations, building bridges across functions, and helping teams adopt modern development practices.
- You’re as comfortable in the code as you are in a client meeting and can translate technical risks and wins into language anyone can understand.

- Paired with a teammate to build a document Q&A system using LangChain and OpenAI APIs
- Helped design an architecture that integrates LLM agents into a legacy enterprise workflow

- Mentored a junior dev through their first pairing and TDD session
- Built and deployed a full stack GenAI MVP with a React frontend and FastAPI backend
