About the Role - Junior Software Engineer (Internship)

We’re looking for a Junior Software Engineer Intern for a 3-month summer internship who’s excited to learn, curious about how real systems work, and comfortable jumping across the stack with guidance from experienced engineers.

Location requirement: Candidates must be based in Cluj-Napoca or Bucharest.

What You’ll Do

Build and improve backend services that power real-time AI features and search
Help design and implement APIs for internal and external integrations
Contribute across the stack when needed (backend, frontend, infrastructure)
Work closely with product managers, ML engineers, and other software engineers
Take tasks from implementation through deployment, with mentorship and code reviews
Participate in technical discussions and learn best practices through hands-on work

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or currently pursuing one)
Strong problem-solving skills and a solid foundation in computer science
Familiarity with at least one backend language (Python, Go, Node.js, or similar)
Basic experience working with APIs (REST, gRPC, or equivalent)
Willingness to learn, ask questions, and collaborate with others
Clear communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
International programming or math olympiad prizes are a strong plus

Nice to Have
0–2 years of experience in software engineering (internships count)
Exposure to databases like PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, or similar
Basic understanding of system design, distributed systems, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Some familiarity with frontend development (React or similar frameworks)

10,000 RON net monthly salary

About the role:

The Knowledge Assist (KA) team at Cresta builds AI solutions that help contact center agents access the right knowledge at the right time. Our projects include real-time generative assistance (GenKA), knowledge search (KS), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) capabilities, and knowledge connectors to integrate with customer systems.

We are looking for a software engineer who enjoys working across the stack and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. While this role leans toward backend development, a full stack skill set is highly valued.

Responsibilities:

Build scalable, reliable backend services that power real-time AI assistance and search.
Design APIs and data flows to support integrations with knowledge bases and customer systems.
Work across the stack when needed, including backend, frontend, and infrastructure layers.
Collaborate closely with product managers, machine learning engineers, and fellow software engineers.
Take ownership of projects end-to-end, from design through implementation and operation in production.
Contribute to technical discussions, architecture reviews, and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications We Value:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of experience in software engineering roles.
Strong backend development skills, preferably with Python, Go, Node.js, or similar languages.
Proficiency in designing clear, maintainable APIs (e.g., REST, gRPC).
