Structural-Bridge Technical Manager

We have a career opportunity for a Structural-Bridge Engineer seeking to grow their career as a Technical Manager. As a Structural-Bridge Technical Manager, you will both self-perform and direct project teams in the planning and design of transportation structures projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be viewed as a subject matter expert and provide technical advice to staff to ensure the successful execution of projects and help drive the growth of the IL Structural group.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing various structural-bridge projects, ensuring the development of high-quality engineering documents. Previous experience mentoring and directing staff on technical skills is highly desired.

Location

This position will have a hybrid schedule, and when in the office, you will work in either our Chicago, IL or Naperville, IL office.

Our Illinois Division’s structural team is proud to lead high-impact projects that demonstrate the depth and diversity of our technical expertise, including:

• IDOT – I-39 Reconstruction Project – Designing multiple new bridge structures along the reconstructed I-39 corridor, including the complex Ramp BD over US 20 bridge – a three-span continuous steel curved plate girder structure with steel straddle bent piers.
• CDOT – 100^th Street Bascule Bridge Rehabilitation Project – Developing a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for this historic structure, including complete replacement of the truss structure over the river.
• City of Elgin – Kimball Street Bridge over Fox River Reconstruction Project – Completing preliminary design for the full reconstruction of the existing 11-span bridge with a new five-span continuous steel haunched girder structure, incorporating a new grade separated multi-use path crossing of Kimball by the Fox River Trail.
• Elk Grove Village – Arlington Heights Road Pedestrian Bridge Project – Creating a new grade-separated connection to the Busse Woods Forest Preserve with an 850-ft curved steel and concrete structure, featuring a 140-ft steel V-frame structure crossing over the roadway and aesthetic enhancements throughout.
• Contractor Engineering – Working for industry-leading Contractors to deliver demolition plans and erection plans with a focus on complex structures, including:  highly skewed steel and concrete spans along the Illinois Tollway; steel plate girder river crossings with spans exceeding 300-ft in length; signature tied arch bridges.

• Mentor and direct the advancement of the technical skills of staff while executing projects.
• Manage technical elements of a project, including assessing what analyses need to be completed and what is the most practical approach (i.e. software, design assumptions, etc.) for that analysis.
• Perform, review, and manage technical analysis and design. Take responsibility for the completeness of design details.
• Communicate technical progress and issues to Project Manager promptly and continuously.
• Adhere to all internal procedures for quality control, documentation, and project tracking.
• Contribute to other project work as a technical specialist or advisor.

• Work toward being a leading subject matter expert on targeted elements within the discipline.

What We Are Looking For

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) required; Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural) required.
• SE License in IL required.
• A minimum of 8 years' experience in structural engineering with a transportation focus.
• IDOT, ISTHA, and CDOT experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of software appropriate for the discipline, showing proficiency in most programs specific to this role/discipline.
• Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and standards that govern the discipline.
• Experience in MicroStation is required; experience in 3D bridge modeling is highly desirable.
• Experience with Construction Engineering services is highly desirable.

Structural Project Engineer

Our Illinois division is hiring a Structural Project Engineer to work on complex projects in our Chicago, IL, office. The ideal candidate for this role will hold a valid license as a Professional Engineer and be working toward-or has obtained- their Structural Engineer license in Illinois. They will collaborate with a team of professionals, focusing on the analysis, inspection, load rating, and design of bridge structures.

Location

This position provides a flexible work schedule, with three days working from the Chicago, IL office and two days remotely. 

The Impact You Will Have

• Prepare and review structural and geometric calculations for bridge rehabilitation and design projects.
• Prepare and review finite element analysis models. 
• Prepare and review bridge load rating reports to DOT standards. 
• Prepare, compile and review plans, specifications, cost estimates and pay items in accordance with DOT standards. 
• Assume responsibility for assigned design calculation files and plans, assuring adequate independent QC reviews on that work. 
• Coordinate the above tasks with the Project/ Technical Manager

What We Are Looking For

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required. MS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or related discipline preferred.
• PE License preferred.
• SE License in Illinois or the ability and plan to obtain. 
• Minimum of 5 years of bridge inspection, analysis, load rating and/or design experience. 
• Successful completion of one or more of the following FHWA-NHI courses is preferred but not required:
• Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges
• Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges
• Experience working with IDOT, CDOT, ISTHA and/or Chicagoland local agencies preferred.
• Strong communication and client relation skills.

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical engineering design and oversight of Jump's mission-critical HPC data center infrastructure. This role takes responsible charge of power system design, from medium voltage distribution through high-density rack-level delivery, across new builds, expansions, and ongoing operations. You will establish electrical design standards, perform engineer-of-record duties, and work closely with mechanical, structural, and technology teams to ensure integrated, resilient system design for our high-performance computing environments.

What You'll Do:

Electrical System Design & Standards
- Lead the electrical engineering design for Jump's critical HPC data center infrastructure projects, taking responsible charge for overall project delivery and technical excellence.
- Design/Review plans for  complex power systems including generator plants, medium voltage distribution, uninterruptible power systems, automatic transfer systems, and redundant power architectures for mission-critical facilities.
- Develop initial electrical system concepts and establish design standards, specifications, and criteria for data center projects.
- Perform calculations, equipment selection, equipment specification, system design, and system layout for high-density computing environments.
- Produce high-quality technical deliverables including drawings, specifications, and reports consistent with Jump requirements and industry standards.

Engineer of Record & QA/QC
- Perform Engineer of Record duties and assume responsible charge for electrical discipline deliverables.
- Serve as engineer of record for electrical power striping from RPPs/busways to device cabinets, ensuring correct phase balancing, circuit allocation, and redundancy across high-density HPC environments.
- Participate in QA/QC processes and technical reviews of work produced by team members and external partners.
- Conduct due diligence reports, gap analyses, and feasibility studies for new data center sites and expansions.

Project & Team Leadership
- Lead multi-discipline project teams and coordinate with mechanical, structural, and technology teams to ensure integrated system design.
- Establish and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for assigned projects.
- Mentor and train junior engineers while providing technical leadership and guidance.

Construction & Field Operations
- Perform field investigations, construction administration, and commissioning oversight.
- Process and review RFIs, change orders, bulletins, and addenda during construction phases.
- Evaluate existing site conditions and provide detailed assessment reports.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Interface with colocation providers, contractors, equipment vendors, and manufacturers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support business development activities and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

AI-Driven Engineering
- Use AI tools daily to accelerate design work, perform calculations, analyze power data, draft documentation, and improve engineering workflows.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI across electrical design and operational processes.

Codes, Standards & Continuing Education
- Maintain current knowledge of electrical codes, industry standards, and emerging technologies relevant to data center design.
- Stay current with LEED principles and their application to data center environments.

Skills You'll Need:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with electrical building systems emphasis from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- EIT credential required if PE not yet obtained.
- Minimum 7+ years experience designing electrical systems for mission-critical facilities, data centers, or high-performance computing environments, preferably in a consulting or end-user engineering capacity.
- Proven track record as lead project engineer capable of directing technical teams and managing complex projects.
- Experience interacting with clients, contractors, architects, and cross-functional project teams.
- Demonstrates a high level of energy, results driven, and able to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills including proposal writing, budget management, and stakeholder relations.
- Attention to detail, highly organized, self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Technical Skills:

- Expert knowledge of electrical systems including medium/low voltage distribution, emergency power systems, UPS systems, and grounding.
- Experience with data center-specific requirements including redundancy levels (N, N+1, 2N), concurrent maintainability, fault tolerance, and high-density power distribution.
- Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD MEP for electrical design and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Ability to read and review floor plans, sections, elevations, and visualize systems in 3D space.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE).
- Understanding of LEED principles and their application to data center environments.
- Programming/scripting experience (Python preferred) is a plus.
- Demonstrated heavy use of AI tools (e.g., LLM-based assistants, AI-driven analytics) in a professional setting. You should already be using AI daily and be eager to push its application further.

About the Role:

As a Solutions Engineer you'll serve as the primary technical and business advisor for project44's go-to-market motion into the 3PL, 4PL, and broader LSP segment. You bring credibility in the room that comes from having lived the technical and operational realities of a logistics provider.

This role is both strategic and hands-on. You will be embedded with dedicated LSP Account Executives — owning the technical discovery, solution design, integration scoping, and value quantification for complex LSP sales engagements. You'll translate operational pain into compelling platform demonstrations and build LSP-specific ROI models.

You are a storyteller, technologist, and logistics operator who can articulate how project44 transforms the way LSPs serve their shipper customers — and back it up with architectural depth, operational fluency, and hands-on integration know-how.

The LSP Buyer Landscape

You'll be working with logistics service providers across the full spectrum of the industry — each with distinct operational models, technology stacks, and strategic priorities:

• Non-Asset 3PLs & Freight Brokers: Managing carrier networks at scale, with pressure to provide shipper-facing visibility without owning the assets.
• 4PLs & Lead Logistics Providers: Orchestrating multi-modal, multi-carrier, multi-region supply chains on behalf of enterprise shippers — where data normalization and control tower capabilities are critical.
• NVOCCs & Freight Forwarders: Navigating complex ocean, air, and customs workflows where milestone visibility and exception management define service quality.
• LTL Consolidators & Regional Carriers: Competing on reliability and transparency, with growing pressure to offer real-time tracking and API-accessible data to shipper portals.
• Managed Transportation Providers: Taking ownership of shipper TMS environments and carrier relationships, where project44 becomes the visibility and intelligence layer on top of their managed programs.

Key Accountabilities:

• LSP Discovery & Solution Design

  • Lead technical and business discovery using LSP-native vocabulary — carrier network management, managed transportation, freight audit & pay, control tower operations, customer SLA performance, white-label visibility portals, and TMS/WMS interoperability.
  • Translate complex, multi-stakeholder LSP challenges into scalable, high-impact project44 solutions — mapping customer pain to platform capabilities across the Movement product suite.
  • Serve as the internal and external authority on how project44 creates differentiated value for LSPs — from carrier connectivity and execution automation to customer-facing portals and Decision Intelligence reporting.
  • Bridge operational and technical stakeholders within LSP accounts — equally effective presenting to a VP of Operations and their integration architect, switching registers fluidly as needed.

  Integration Scoping & Technical Validation

  • Own the integration story in every deal — scope and demonstrate how project44 APIs and the carrier network connect into LSP tech stacks including TMS platforms (MercuryGate, TMW/PeopleNet, Oracle TMS, Blue Yonder, McLeod, etc.).
  • Conduct hands-on API prototyping — construct and execute test calls, configure webhooks, interpret JSON/XML payloads, and data-map carrier event streams to accelerate technical validation and reduce time-to-close.
  • Advise on carrier connectivity models relevant to LSPs: EDI (204/210/214), API-based load tendering and tracking, ELD integrations, and ocean/air carrier APIs.
  • Collaborate with Implementation and Customer Success to ensure that what is scoped in sales is achievable in delivery — protecting both customer trust and project44 margin.

  Value Selling & Executive Engagement

  • Build and present LSP-specific ROI models that resonate with logistics provider economics: cost per shipment tracked, carrier compliance rates, customer retention tied to visibility SLAs, exception-driven headcount savings, and white-label portal value for shipper accounts.
  • Design and deliver sophisticated demos, proofs of concept, and value assessments aligned to executive-level business outcomes — customized for the specific operational model of each LSP prospect.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders — presenting technical visions and quantified business cases that influence long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Stay current on evolving logistics industry trends (automation, AI/ML-driven visibility, IoT, carrier API proliferation) and advise LSP customers on how project44 drives competitive differentiation.

  Team & Cross-Functional Contribution

  • Partner closely with dedicated LSP Account Executives to develop and execute account strategies — operating as a tightly integrated AE/SE pod throughout the sales cycle.
  • Mentor and coach Solutions Engineers, elevating team performance and consistency across global regions.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to influence the roadmap through market feedback gathered from LSP sales engagements.
  • Represent project44 at industry events, webinars, and customer councils (CSCMP, FreightWaves, TIA, etc.) as a recognized thought leader in logistics technology.
  • Support enablement initiatives to scale LSP-specific best practices, talk tracks, and competitive positioning across the Solutions Engineering organization.

Requirements & Preferred Skills

• • 5+ years of hands-on operational or technical experience at a 3PL, 4PL, or managed transportation provider — including deep familiarity with carrier network operations, customer account management, TMS configuration/integration, or supply chain visibility deployments. Direct experience as an operator (operations manager, implementation lead, solutions architect, or account manager) at an LSP is strongly preferred over adjacent roles.
  • Fluency in LSP-specific processes and terminology: load tendering, carrier scorecarding, freight audit & pay, customer SLA reporting, mode optimization, drayage/intermodal operations, white-label portals, and managed transportation program structures.
  • Proven track record leading complex, multi-stakeholder integration or operational projects — e.g., managed transportation outsourcing transitions, large-scale carrier onboardings, TMS implementation or migration, or supply chain visibility platform deployments.

  Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience with at least one major TMS platform (MercuryGate, TMW Suite, Oracle TMS, Blue Yonder, McLeod, Transplace, etc.) from an integration, configuration, or implementation standpoint.
  • Ability to work directly with APIs: reading technical documentation, constructing and executing test calls (Postman or equivalent), and interpreting JSON/XML payloads to support fast technical validation with LSP prospects.
  • Experience with or strong understanding of carrier connectivity models: API-based tendering and tracking, ELD integrations, and ocean/air carrier data feeds.
  • Comfortable with light scripting (Python, JavaScript) or query writing (SQL) for demo customization, data manipulation, and proof-of-concept builds.
  • Strong grasp of cloud architecture, integration frameworks, and data exchange standards; familiarity with information security considerations in enterprise SaaS deployments.

  Communication & Sales Skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills — able to distill complex technical and operational concepts for C-suite audiences while maintaining depth when engaging with technical counterparts.
  • Proficiency in leading discovery workshops, designing Proofs of Value, and delivering quantifiable ROI analyses tailored to logistics provider economics.
  • Deep understanding of global supply chain, transportation, and logistics processes at a structural level — not just the vocabulary.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% for customer engagements, industry events, and internal collaboration.
