About the Role

Platform Science is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Android Developer (Software Engineer II) to join our Solutions Design Team in Chennai. This role is crucial for architecting, prototyping, and delivering high-quality mobile solutions for our transportation and mobility platforms. This requires deep expertise in Android development using Java and Xamarin, and strong skills in designing scalable, maintainable mobile solutions that integrate with cloud services and enterprise systems.

Essential Responsibilities

• Mobile Application Design & Development: Lead the design and development of Android applications using Java and Xamarin, building high-performance, secure, and scalable mobile features.

• Architecture & Solution Design: Drive POCs and prototypes for new features, participate in architecture discussions, and translate business/UX needs into technical designs.

• Code Quality & Engineering Excellence: Implement engineering best practices (clean code, SOLID principles), conduct detailed code reviews, and monitor/troubleshoot production issues.

Experience

Required experience

As a Senior Software Engineer specialising in SAP S/4HANA ABAP/FIORI/AI, you will be a key member of the SAP technical team responsible for designing, developing, and implementing SAP solutions to support business operations. Your primary focus will be on SAP AI developments, UI/UX development using SAP Fiori/UI5,  as well as backend ABAP development for custom solutions and enhancements. As a Senior Software Engineer in our Engineering Enablement Group, you will lead the re-design and evolution of our Mobile Branding framework — the system that enables customers to create custom-branded versions of the Appian mobile application for both iOS and Android. You will drive the architectural modernization of the end-to-end branding pipeline, from the customer-facing Forum application and provisioning tools to the backend build service running on Mac EC2 runners in AWS.

•  Analyze and translate business and functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications suitable for implementation
• Able to independently transform complex technical requirements into smaller implementable pieces; able to implement performant software solutions that are maintainable, scalable, reliable and testable
• Participate in code and design reviews
• Train and guide junior developers on proper software development procedures and methods
• Follow company defined development and operational standards and processes
• Provide on-call support during business critical emergency scenarios.
• Support and troubleshoot production issues as needed
• Complete any additional tasks as they arise

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in Computer Science or related field
• 4+ years of relevant experience in web application development and programming
• Knowledge of Django or a similar middleware is a must
• Should be Hands on and passionate to code and familiar with using AI tools like co-pilot and cursor
• Top-notch programming skills and knowledge of modern HTML/CSS, jQuery
• Proficiency with Python and ReactJS
• Proficient and SQL and Postgres Database knowledge is an added advantage
• Strong experience throughout the stack web applications, API and database
• Knowledge of, and ability to use, relational database systems
• Good understanding of how web applications work
• Proven ability to deliver results
• An analytical mindset
•  Ability to commute to our CMT, Chennai office 3 days per week
