About the Team
The International TV Software team at Roku develops and delivers software for television platforms across international markets, with a focus on Europe and Australia. The team works closely with SOC partners to bring new TV products to market, develops software to meet regional broadcast standards, and supports certification with organizations such as ETV, the BBC, and DTG. The team operates across both new platform development and common software development projects, contributing to greenfield features as well as the ongoing evolution of Roku’s international TV software ecosystem. It is a collaborative, cross-functional team that values engineers who are curious, adaptable, and motivated to understand the full breadth of the systems they work on.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer on the Regional TV Software team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of software for regional TV platforms, working on both new TV platform projects and new software development projects. You will collaborate with SOC vendors, support certification processes with UK and European broadcast organizations, and help define and build new software features. This is a great opportunity for an engineer early in their career who is curious, collaborative, and motivated to grow across multiple areas of a complex software system.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing and maintaining software for regional TV platforms, with a focus on markets in Europe and Australia
- Collaborating with SOC vendors to support new TV projects and resolving Roku-specific technical issues
- Supporting certification processes with organisations such as ETV, the BBC, and DTG
- Contributing to new software projects, including requirements definition, software design, and implementation
- Developing primarily in C++, with contributions in C, Python and Javascript as-needed
- Porting and adapting software to meet regional standards and specifications, including HbbTV
- Troubleshooting technical issues across the software stack and working cross-functionally to resolve them
- Participating in greenfield feature development as part of new TV platform launches
We’re Excited If You Have
- 6+ years Experience with C and/or C++ in a commercial environment
- Familiarity with Python
- An interest in or exposure to embedded systems or low-level software development
- A systems-level mindset — curiosity about how different parts of a system interact and a desire to learn broadly
- Exposure to Linux environments (a plus, but not required)
- Familiarity with HTML or browser-based development (a plus, but not required)
- 6+ years of commercial software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through projects, internships, or academic work
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to working through technical challenges

Senior Designer, Visual Interaction Design
In a nutshell:
We’re looking for a Senior Visual Interaction Designer to join our Cambridge Studio who is passionate about crafting elegant, thoughtful user experiences, and who brings strong visual design craft to the interactions people have with complex design systems, software, services, and each other.
Senior Visual Interaction Designers at IDEO shape how experiences look, feel, and behave. In this role, you’ll translate human-centered insights into clear, compelling interactions and interfaces that are functional, expressive, and meaningful. You’ll balance visual excellence with usability, and bring a distinct visual voice to each design challenge while learning and growing alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Once here you will:
- Contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects spanning data, experience, interaction, digital product, and service design across a range of industries

- Translate human-centered insights into interaction models, visual systems, and polished digital interfaces
- Create “looks-like / works-like” prototypes to explore ideas, test assumptions, and communicate concepts to teammates and client stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with designers from different backgrounds—including design research, business design, industrial design, and communication design—to develop cohesive, holistic experiences

Design Craft + Relevant Experience
- Relevant experience and/or educational background required in visual, interaction, or graphic design across digital products or experiences
- A strong portfolio demonstrating visual excellence, thoughtful interaction design, and a clear point of view on typography, color, layout, and motion
- Comfort working at multiple levels of fidelity, from rough explorations to refined, production-ready designs
- Experience in delivering low and high fidelity prototypes.
- Proficiency with contemporary design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Framer, Principle), with curiosity about emerging tools and technologies
- Familiarity with motion, code, or physical computing (e.g., HTML/CSS, After Effects, Processing/P5, Arduino) is a plus, but not required

We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to lead complex projects, and mentor teams in building scalable and reliable full-stack solutions. The person in this role will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of our platform and ensuring its continued success.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of critical features and components, ensuring high quality and timely delivery
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence
- Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, proactively mitigating risks.
- Lead cross functional technical projects
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and approaches to improve system performance and efficiency
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable architectures for complex systems
- Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to define technical roadmaps and strategies
- Anticipate future technical needs and ensure the platform is prepared for growth
- Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for software development
- Ensure the reliability and performance of production systems, providing on-call support as needed
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, minimizing downtime
- Follow company defined development and operational standards and processes
- Mentor and guide senior and junior engineers, fostering their technical growth
- Lead code and design reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product, QA, and operations
- Participate heavily in the hiring process, and improve the hiring process
- Complete any additional tasks as they arise
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in a technical field
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience
- Deep expertise in web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript) and modern web frameworks (e.g., React, Django)
- Extensive experience designing or developing Restful APIs or web services
- Strong proficiency in a backend development language (e.g. Python, Java)
- Expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), including services like EC2, S3, Lambda, SNS, SQS, RDS (Postgres), and NoSQL databases.
- Proven ability to design and implement scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices, including testing, CI/CD, and DevOps
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies (specifically Scrum)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Customer obsessed, demonstrates initiative, has a learning mindset, takes ownership
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical initiatives and influence architectural decisions.
- Strong experience with system design

Analysts will have the opportunity to work within our Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering teams to solve cross-functional, high velocity, high impact analytics problems and scale the business using data.This will include a mix of business analytics, analytics engineering, and data science using SQL and Python.
