The Job
- Drive architectural, product and technology decisions for front-end features

You
- 5+ years of iOS software development experience
- Strong experience with iOS and Swift / SwiftUI programming
- Extensive knowledge of object-oriented software development

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of multiple teams, driving the design and evolution of large-scale distributed systems that serve millions of customers. You will build and evolve:
- Horizontally scalable microservices written mostly in Clojure, using Finagle and leveraging functional programming techniques and hexagonal architecture

- Continuous Integration and Deployment pipelines on AWS
- Data storage solutions using Datomic and DynamoDB
- Monitoring and observability with Prometheus

- Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies and prior experience with CI/CD

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design and build scalable React Native applications powered by shared modules from our mobile and backend platforms
- Drive the architecture of a modular, reusable system, enabling rapid assembly of new apps from core building blocks (auth, wallet, trading, on-ramp/off-ramp, etc.)
- Define and enforce clear contracts and boundaries between modules, ensuring flexibility, reliability, and long-term maintainability
- Lead complex projects from technical design through delivery and iteration, working across multiple teams

- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Codex) to accelerate development, while setting standards for correctness, performance, and security

What You’ll Do
- Design and implement high-quality native mobile SDKs that enable developers to integrate embedded wallet functionality into their applications, with a strong focus on API ergonomics, performance, and reliability.
- Own SDK features end-to-end: from API design and architecture, through implementation and testing, to release, versioning, and developer documentation.
- Build and maintain secure, reliable SDK components for wallet operations, including cryptographic operations, blockchain interactions, and security-sensitive flows.
- Define and evolve the SDK architecture to support long-term maintainability, backward compatibility, and adoption across diverse customer applications.
- Build sample applications and demos that showcase SDK capabilities and serve as integration references for customers.
- Create clear, comprehensive SDK documentation and integration guides.
- Work with developer relations and support teams to address customer integration challenges.
- Raise the bar for quality and operational excellence by establishing best practices around testing, observability, releases, and code health.

What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with deep focus on mobile development and shipping production-grade SDKs.
- Demonstrated track record of building and shipping high-quality code, with work you can point to and discuss in depth.
- Strong hands-on experience with iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin); experience with React Native or other cross-platform frameworks, and familiarity with all.
- Experience building mobile SDKs or shared libraries, including API design, versioning, packaging, and long-term maintenance across platforms.
- Experience with blockchain-enabled mobile systems, including wallet flows, signing, and on-chain interactions.
- Experience working on security-sensitive mobile software, such as key management, secure storage, cryptography, or financial products.
- Strong grasp of mobile engineering best practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, release management, and observability.

- B.Sc. in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

About the Team:
Fraîche is CookUnity’s premium smart fridge platform for workplaces, providing fresh, chef-crafted meals, snacks, and drinks right in the office with 24/7 availability. We are seeking a Senior Backend / Platform Engineer with strong backend engineering experience and the ability to contribute to our mobile app as needed (approximately 70% backend / 30% mobile). In this role, you will maintain and evolve our platform capabilities powering the Fraîche experience — including backend services built with PHP and Symfony, data systems (PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch), message queues, Redis, and infrastructure operations. You will also contribute to the Fraîche mobile app (Flutter preferred, React Native acceptable) for hardware-aware and user-facing features. Responsibilities:
- Develop & Improve Platform and Services: Build new backend features and enhance existing functionality in our PHP/Symfony services that power the Fraîche mobile app and operational tooling. Ensure reliable integrations across PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, message queues, and Redis.
- Infrastructure & Platform Support: Own and improve platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence. The system currently runs on Upsun infrastructure; help maintain and optimize it while preparing for a potential migration from Upsun to AWS in the near future.
- Collaborate on Migration Strategy: Work with the team to plan and gradually implement a potential migration of infrastructure (and related components) to AWS, aligning with CookUnity’s broader B2B tech stack. Be open to adopting new tools and best practices as the platform evolves.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with frontend/mobile engineers, backend and full-stack engineers across B2B (including Fraîche) to integrate APIs and ensure smooth end-to-end functionality. Work with product managers and operations teams to refine requirements and improve user workflows.
- Hardware & IoT Integration (Backend Focus): Implement backend solutions that support interaction with our smart fridge hardware — for example, secure fridge unlock workflows, real-time inventory updates, and robust event processing via message queues. Bring creative ideas to make fridge-user interactions more seamless and automated.
- Mobile Contributions (Approx. 30%): Contribute to the Fraîche mobile app to support hardware-aware flows and critical user journeys, ideally using Flutter (or React Native). Collaborate with mobile-focused engineers to ensure app changes integrate cleanly with backend services.
- Quality & Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable code with proper architecture, testing, and observability. Participate in code reviews and ensure high performance, reliability, and responsiveness across backend systems. Contribute to documentation, deployment processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Backend Experience (PHP/Symfony): Senior-level backend engineer with multiple production experiences building and deploying backend systems using PHP and Symfony (or comparable frameworks). Demonstrated ownership of services, APIs, and production operations.
- Data Stores & Search: Strong experience working with PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch, including data modeling, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.

The Role:
- We are looking for a Tech Enablement Engineer to join our B2B Operations team, where you will play a key role in building and optimizing the internal technology that powers CookUnity’s B2B initiatives.
- In this role, you’ll work closely with the Tech Enablement Lead (to whom you will report) and collaborate with stakeholders across operations, product, and engineering to deliver innovative solutions.
- You’ll be developing end-to-end automation workflows, creating internal web/mobile applications, maintaining custom hardware setups (like our smart fridge prototypes), and managing integrations with third-party software.
- This is a great opportunity for a mid-level engineer who enjoys working on a wide range of technologies – from scripting and full-stack development to IoT devices and AI tools – all with the goal of improving efficiency and enabling growth.

Responsibilities:
- Build & Optimize Automations: Ideate, develop, and maintain end-to-end automation workflows to streamline internal processes. This includes using low-code tools (like n8n) and custom scripts (SQL, Google Cloud Functions, Apps Script, Node.js/Python) to connect APIs, databases, and services, reducing manual work for our teams.
- Full-Stack Internal Tools: Create and enhance internal applications for web and mobile. You’ll work with modern front-end frameworks (e.g. React/Next.js) and back-end code (Node.js, Python, SQL) to build tools that improve our Ops and B2B services. You will also set up CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar) to deploy these tools efficiently.
- Hardware (IoT): Contribute to the development and upkeep of custom hardware solutions, such as our Raspberry Pi–powered smart fridges. This involves working with electronic locks, sensors, cameras, and integrating computer vision capabilities. You’ll help ensure these devices are remotely accessible, regularly updated, and functioning reliably in the field.
- Third-Party Integrations: Manage and improve integrations with external software used by the team (such as Zendesk, Aircall, Jira, etc.). This could mean configuring integrations, writing custom API wrappers or webhooks, and ensuring data flows smoothly between CookUnity’s systems and these platforms.
- AI Tools & Agents: Experiment with and build AI-driven tools to support the team’s objectives. For example, you might prototype AI agents or chatbots to assist with support tasks or data analysis, leveraging frameworks or APIs for natural language processing.
- Marketing & CRM Support: Work closely with our Marketing and Data teams to automate their workflows. This can include connecting marketing automation platforms, writing scripts to handle data ingestion or transformation for Salesforce, and implementing validation rules or triggers in our CRM to maintain data integrity. You’ll also help create custom Salesforce dashboard components or integrations as needed.
- Documentation & Handover: Document all your solutions and processes clearly. Because Tech Enablement often pioneers new tools and workflows, you will ensure that everything built is well-documented and can be easily handed over or transitioned to Product/Engineering teams for long-term ownership. You’ll create how-to guides, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks to facilitate smooth knowledge transfer.
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in software development, with hands-on exposure to a broad range of technologies.
- Proficiency in coding with JavaScript/TypeScript and Python. You have built scripts or services in these languages and are comfortable with both front-end and back-end development.
- Experience developing web applications using modern frameworks (for example, React/Next.js on the front end and Node.js or Python on the back end).
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and webhooks, and experience integrating with third-party APIs or SDKs.
- Familiarity with SQL databases and ability to write and optimize SQL queries.
- Experience with automation workflows or low-code platforms (such as n8n, Zapier, or similar), or demonstrated ability to design custom automation scripts to connect various systems.
- Basic knowledge of cloud services and DevOps: comfortable deploying apps or functions on cloud platforms (e.g. Google Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda) and using CI/CD pipelines for version control and deployment.
- Exposure to working with hardware or IoT projects (even if hobbyist): you can configure devices, install OS/software on a Raspberry Pi (Linux), and troubleshoot connectivity or sensor issues.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across different domains (software, hardware, integrations).
- Fluent English communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to effectively communicate technical ideas to non-technical team members and collaborate across teams in English.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Build & Ship: Contribute to our industry-leading Bitcoin and crypto wallet – 📱 View on App Store. You’ll write reliable, well-tested Swift code, collaborate with senior engineers on architecture decisions, and help guide junior teammates when needed.
- Learn & Grow: Deepen your expertise through code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical deep-dives. You’ll own medium-sized features end-to-end while continuing to sharpen your skills in mobile security and crypto.
- Collaborate: Work closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers to translate user stories into delightful mobile features.
- Own Features: Take full responsibility for feature development—planning, debugging, testing, and releasing to production—with an eye toward continuous improvement and scalability.
- Stay Curious: Explore the latest tools (Swift Concurrency, Combine/RxSwift, CryptoKit, etc.), share insights with the team, and champion best practices.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Must-Haves
- 2-5 years of professional iOS development experience
- Proficiency in Swift Comfort with Xcode, SwiftUI/UIKit, Interface Builder, and Git
- Hands-on experience shipping at least one consumer app to the App Store (TestFlight, provisioning profiles, app review, etc.)
- Solid grasp of asynchronous programming (GCD, async/await, Combine/RxSwift) and common architectural patterns (MVC/MVVM)
- Commitment to unit testing and automated CI/CD pipelines
- A growth mindset—you actively seek feedback, iterate rapidly and push yourself to improve
- Clear communication skills and enjoyment of working in diverse, distributed teams
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience mentoring or pairing with junior engineers
- Personal interest in crypto or fintech
- Knowledge of advanced app-security or cryptography concepts
