Job Summary
As a Lead Lab Support Engineer at Graphcore, you will serve as the technical lead providing IT support to Engineering Labs and Silicon development projects. This includes bring-ups and testing in hybrid Linux and Windows environments. You will deliver reliable, scalable, and high-quality services to internal customers, partners, and collaborators. You will also lead a small team of Lab Support Engineers and encourage a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Working alongside Project Managers, engineering teams, and interested parties, you will build and deploy scalable workflows. You must ensure IT support for Engineering Labs keeps pace with the organisation’s evolving requirements. At first, this role requires direct involvement in daily support, configuration, and onboarding activities while forming the Lab Support team and setting up scalable processes.

You will own the architecture and execution of system-level test strategies for an AI accelerator server platform, covering the manufacture of individual servers and multi-node racks, and field deployment environments. Lead the creation, automation, and integration of tests spanning hardware, firmware, OS, high-speed IO, cooling, and manageability subsystems. Ensure scalable, reliable test processes that support high-volume manufacturing, rack integration, and in-field diagnostics and repair.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the system-level test strategy for an AI accelerator server platform with hundreds of PCIe Gen6 links, liquid cooling, and heterogeneous compute/management subsystems.
- Lead the design and implementation of structural, functional, stress and reliability tests executed on servers and full-rack configurations.
- Manage the deployment of system test suites in manufacturing environments, ensuring high throughput, repeatability, failure isolation, and secure automation workflows.
- Define and deliver test solutions for field diagnostics, repair, and maintenance—including remote test suites, health-check routines, failure triage, and component-level isolation.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, OS, and platform teams to embed system-level test and diagnostic functions and ensure testability across the server and rack.
- Drive test integration into OpenBMC, Redfish, and platform-management frameworks; validate BMC/RMC test and maintenance behaviors, telemetry, and hardware-control functions.
- Develop test automation infrastructure and tooling that spans multiple OS environments (embedded Linux on BMC/RMCs, server-class Linux on host CPUs).
- Partner with rack integration teams to define tests executed at rack-level assembly.
- Establish KPIs and dashboards for system test coverage, yield, throughput, failure rates, and field return correlation.
- Manage internal test engineering team and relevant external partners.
- Own system test documentation: test specifications, factory/field procedures, debug guides, and integration handbooks.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in system-level or server platform validation, test engineering, or platform QA.
- Strong understanding of server architectures, BMC/OpenBMC/Redfish, Linux-based systems, and hardware/firmware interactions.
- Experience validating or testing high-speed IO subsystems (PCIe Gen4/5/6 or comparable serial fabrics).
- Experience leading test development for manufacturing or field diagnostics in large-scale server, storage, or networking systems.
- Ability to lead teams, manage external vendors, and drive cross-functional test initiatives.
- Strong skills in system debug, log analysis, failure isolation, and multi-component testing.
- Familiarity with liquid-cooled or thermally complex server designs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with accelerator-based compute (AI/ML, GPUs, custom ASICs).

What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain the Linux kernel driver for Fractile’s AI accelerator
- Build the performance-critical kernel-space paths that keep the host stack moving: PCIe device management, DMA, memory handling, interrupt handling, and robust recovery paths
- Define and evolve the userspace interface the runtime depends on, with a focus on stability, debuggability, and performance
- Work in a tight co-design loop with hardware, firmware, runtime and ML engineers: validate assumptions, iterate on behaviour, and close gaps early
- Improve tooling/workflows so we move fast without breaking things
What we’re looking for
- You’ve shipped and maintained Linux kernel device drivers in production. Experience with PCIe-attached devices and custom hardware interfaces is ideal.
- Strong systems and performance instincts. You can reason about computer architecture, concurrency, and where the time goes
- Excellent C and/or Rust, and a pragmatic approach to building high-quality, maintainable & secure kernel code
- You enjoy hard kernel and system-level problems, and you take them end-to-end until the measurements move

About the role:
We are creating a new team of Rust engineers to work on greenfield software with members having scope to influence architecture, direction and engineering practices from day one.
In this role, you will:
- Write Rust server side software to build a reference implementation of a full AI inference stack specifically tuned to take advantage of the hardware we are building, including a Linux kernel driver in Rust. The hardware will be housed in data centres so the remit of work includes building out all the required cloud based tooling as well.
- You will be expected to conduct your own research into the state of the art in AI inference and implement these ideas. You will be encouraged to take initiative and make sense of difficult problems in unfamiliar areas.
What we are looking for:
- We are looking for creative problem solvers and generalists who have the grit to tackle hard problems.
- Experience in serving AI workloads (for example vLLM, SGLang or Rust equivalents) or strong systems level engineering experience. If you don’t have AI experience then experience in a wide range of complimentary industries would also be beneficial. Specifically experience moving large amounts of data around in real time at low latency, paging, caching etc.
- We will consider candidates without commercial Rust experience as long as they are strong senior developers in another systems language (e.g. C/C++ etc.) and can demonstrate proficiency in Rust through open source contributions and/or personal projects.
If you have a portfolio of Rust projects that you have authored and can share then this will help in the selection process.
We will not subject you to online algorithmic-style testing but any interview will be very technical and you will be expected to have a background in computer science and a deep understanding of Rust. We’re looking for an engineer to develop and maintain system-level hardware defect detection tests for an AI accelerator server platform. The role is focused on implementing, executing, and improving tests used in factory assembly and service/repair environments to identify hardware defects quickly and reliably. Work closely with the System Test Engineering Lead to translate defect detection strategy into robust, repeatable test implementations rather than design validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain system-level hardware defect detection tests for individual servers and rack-based systems.
- Implement tests to detect assembly defects, marginal components, damaged hardware, cabling or interconnect issues, cooling faults, etc.
- Develop service and field diagnostic tests used for RMA triage, repair validation, and preventative maintenance.
- Implement deterministic, fast-running tests with clear pass/fail criteria and actionable failure output suitable for manufacturing and service technicians.
- Develop PCIe defect detection tests to identify lane faults, link degradation, polarity issues, retimer problems, and intermittent connectivity failures.
- Implement stress and soak tests designed to expose latent or marginal hardware issues.

Job Summary
As the Hardware System Test Engineering Manager, you will lead the Hardware System Test Team responsible for developing manufacturing test solutions for High Performance Modules (HPM), Server Blades, and Multi-node racks as part of the production assembly process. You will drive the creation of robust test executive software that sequences tests and integrates test content from multiple internal and external sources. You will guide the development of manufacturing test content and test fixtures informed by a deep understanding of silicon, board, and system design. Working cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, and software teams, you will ensure the right tools and functionality exist to efficiently validate product quality at scale.
The Team
The Product Test and Diagnosis team is responsible for identifying and diagnosing hardware defects introduced during the manufacturing process. The team defines, develops, and executes an end-to-end test strategy spanning silicon, board-level assemblies, server blades, and rack-scale systems. Testing is performed across the full product lifecycle, including manufacturing, and deployed field environments.
Product Test and Diagnosis is part of the Manufacturing Operations organisation, which also comprises Manufacturing Technology, Supply Chain, and Quality teams. The group operates as a global team, with engineers based in the UK (Bristol and Cambridge), Taiwan, India, and the United States.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead and grow a multidisciplinary team of hardware and software test engineers delivering manufacturing test solutions for complex compute systems.
- Define the manufacturing test strategy and roadmap for High Performance Modules, Server Blades, and Multi-node racks.
- Own delivery of test executive software used in both manufacturing and lab environments to orchestrate test sequencing, logging, results aggregation, and integration of test content from diverse sources.
- Partner with internal software, firmware, and platform teams to ensure required hooks, diagnostics, telemetry, and APIs exist to enable effective manufacturing test.
- Establish best practices for test coverage, traceability, release management, and configuration control of test software and content.
- Implement metrics and dashboards for manufacturing test (yield, escapes, false fails, coverage, cycle time) and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive root-cause analysis of manufacturing failures and field returns, coordinating corrective actions across design, validation, and manufacturing engineering.
- Own the delivery of manufacturing test fixtures for High Performance Modules and Server Blades, including defining requirements, managing external subcontractors, and ensuring fixtures meet quality, cost, schedule, and production readiness needs.
- Ensure test solutions are scalable, maintainable, and production-ready, including documentation, training, and support processes for factory deployment.
- Support supplier/contract manufacturing engagements as needed, including test station readiness, deployment qualification, and ongoing production support.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Experience developing manufacturing test solutions for high-performance servers, accelerators (GPU-class), or comparable large scale compute hardware.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience managing a mixed hardware/software engineering team (hiring, coaching, performance management, and team development).
- Deep technical understanding across silicon, board, and system design sufficient to define effective manufacturing test coverage and guide debug/root-cause analysis.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience driving requirements and delivery with internal software/firmware/platform teams to enable testability.
- Hands-on experience using Linux, OpenBMC, and vendor specific test tools, diagnostics, and system-level utilities to test hardware in lab and manufacturing environments.

The Team
The Hardware test team are part of a larger Hardware team that consists of Signal Integrity (SI), Mechanical, layout, package and Hardware engineers. The Hardware team is responsible for delivering state of the art accelerators for machine learning and collaborates with the Silicon, Firmware and Production teams during product development.
Responsibilities and Duties
A successful candidate will work within Hardware Engineering Team to define test methods, specify suitable test equipment and automate test systems. The team is currently responsible for testing, debugging and characterising high speed serial links, power supplies that can deliver high current and adapt to fast transients. We also debug and characteratize slower speed protocols like JTAG , I2C I3C and low level PCBA debug.
Developing a deep understanding of Graphcore hardware and software products and how to operate them in a test environment is essential for this position.
You will be expected to understand relevant industry performance test standards, data analysis and presentation systems. Contributions are expected to span multiple areas and involve:
- Manual testing and debug of complex high speed SERDES which include PCIe Gen 6 and 112/224Gb PAM4 ethernet. This will require the use of high bandwidth oscilloscopes, BERTs and VNA’s, and the ability to understand complex IEEE standards.
- Designing and developing graphical user interfaces for controlling our products in a test environment.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Firmware Manager, the Graduate Firmware Engineer will contribute to the design, development and delivery of the firmware that powers our next generation products. They are expected to take part in technical discussions across multiple teams within Graphcore and our partners.
The Team
The firmware team writes the software that ensures the full and complete bootup of Graphcore Hardware and Silicon. We design and maintain interfaces to allow our Drivers software to interact with Graphcore Silicon. We present telemetry and monitoring data for use by the host system via the SMBus interface, and by data centre operatives via the BMC.

The Team

What you’ll be doing
Development of production systems and test boards for Graphcore’s family of processors which includes:
- Circuit design, requirements analysis, functional definition, and component selection
- PCB Layout constraint definition, and support of PCB CAD layout team
- Circuit validation and verification

- Debugging and optimisation, in collaboration with the firmware team, of the correct system performance of microcontroller hardware control code

The Role
Support Engineer – End User Computing.
The End User Computing team look after all the technology used directly by humans in our organisation, such as the Windows and Linux desktops and Windows server infrastructure (including active directory, application deployment, clustered enterprise database systems, monitoring and automated build systems), audio-visual deployments, LAN, internet, and WiFi network environments and a wide range of enterprise applications (including e-mail, third-party productivity tools, and finance-specific applications). We exhibit special expertise in automation (predominantly in PowerShell, but also in python and other languages).
We currently operate 4 days a week in-office, 1 from home.
Responsibilities
- You will support our employees in their day-to-day use of the computer systems in our Bristol Office and offer remote support to other European offices as required.
- Perform day-to-day operations, support, and maintenance of our IT platform and cloud applications, including (but not limited to): Microsoft 365, Slack, Active Directory, Jira, VC Estate and other IT related systems.
- Co-own and continuously improve the onboarding processes for both users and hardware in the Bristol office.
- Co-Manage IT asset tracking and lifecycle processes (procurement, deployment, refresh, and disposal).
