This senior role focuses on strengthening the quality engineering foundation for our SDK by developing robust automation, scalable CI/CD systems, and effective test strategies. We are seeking a Senior Semiconductor Reliability Engineer to lead reliability strategy and execution across advanced silicon nodes and advanced packaging technologies, spanning both pre-silicon and post-silicon phases. This role is responsible for ensuring robust product reliability from technology selection and design enablement through silicon bring-up, qualification, and high-volume manufacturing.

The successful candidate will work at the intersection of device physics, circuit design, packaging, and manufacturing, providing technical leadership on reliability risk assessment, modeling, qualification, and failure analysis for complex, high-performance devices.

The Role

As a Senior Reliability Engineer, you will lead reliability strategy and qualification activities for advanced AI silicon and package technologies. You’ll work across pre-silicon analysis, post-silicon qualification, and failure analysis, partnering closely with silicon, packaging, manufacturing, and quality teams.

• Define reliability requirements for advanced silicon nodes and package platforms

• Support design reviews, guard-banding, and reliability sign-off activities

• Experience of managing storage in cloud environments such as AWS for engineering or backup purposes

We decide whether entire racks of machines are good enough to enter production. Our team measures and evaluates large-scale Linux systems—from a single rack to data-centre scale. We don’t just run benchmarks; we determine whether a system behaves correctly, and whether it is reliable enough to be trusted.

The work spans designing workloads, building execution systems, and interpreting results. A measurement is only useful if it leads to a decision.

You won’t be confined to a narrow role. Some engineers here focus on infrastructure, others on workloads or analysis—but everyone contributes to understanding system behaviour at scale. You are free to specialise, but as a team we are responsible for leaving no gaps.

You might find yourself:

• Expanding measurement coverage from small clusters to full racks
• Designing workloads that expose system behaviour

As a hardware signal integrity engineer you will develop, extract and simulate PCB structures to ensure that the high speed SERDES (112Gbps) and DDR interfaces perform correctly within the system budget. 

You will work closely with the PCB and package substrate CAD engineers to design component signal launches from BGA components and connectors, layer transition via structures, and cable interconnect. You will define the low-loss materials to be used for future designs and work closely with Graphcore’s system architecture team and suppliers to ensure the best possible performance is achieved. You will be an expert user of high-speed PCB simulation tools and be familiar with industry best practice in high-speed digital system design.

Signal and Power Integrity specialist for the development of production systems and test boards for Graphcore’s family of processors.
Includes:

• Development of printed circuit board structures for high frequency (112Gbps, 16Gbps) SERDES interfaces, DDR interfaces 
• PCB stackup definition
• System, PCB and substrate level simulation and analysis of signal and power integrity
• Graphcore Integrated Circuit device interface requirements definition, tool & vendor relationships
• PCB design requirement and constraint definition, PCB layout supervision
• Prototype bring-up, evaluation, validation & system test

Candidate Profile 

• 5+ years’ experience in high-speed digital circuit development, with a deep understanding of signal and power supply integrity
• Knowledge of high-speed circuit design requirements to ensure signal integrity and robust rejection of interference and crosstalk is essential
• Experience of high frequency (tens of GHz) SERDES design and validation
• Experience with ANSYS SIWave, HFSS, and/or Mentor Hyperlynx Signal and Power Integrity tools
• High speed processor system design with experience in interfaces such as SERDES, PCI, DDR, Ethernet, etc.
• Design of BGA & connector pad launches, via structures and transmission lines for GHz signals.
• This position will require extensive practical work in the lab, bringing up, debugging and validating designs

Job Summary

We are looking for a high-quality Test Development Engineer to complement our existing team. You will be working closely with the hardware and software development teams to develop and maintain test systems in support of preproduction test solutions.  You will report to the Hardware test team lead, the test team is embedded within the Hardware team.  We want people who work collaboratively and proactively within our teams. Our engineers are not siloed, and they are trusted and encouraged to take ownership of their tasks and develop test solutions that meet our requirements. We value team players and the right characteristics are more important than academic qualification or specific experience.

Candidates will be expected to work closely both with other teams within Graphcore and with 3rd party support engineers/contractors, ensuring good communication between all parties, and to contribute meaningfully to the overall efficiency and success of the Hardware Team.

The Team

The Hardware test team are part of a larger Hardware team that consists of Signal Integrity (SI), Mechanical, layout, package and Hardware engineers. The Hardware team is responsible for delivering state of the art accelerators for machine learning and collaborates with the Silicon, Firmware and Production teams during product development.

Responsibilities and Duties 

A successful candidate will work within Hardware Engineering Team to define test methods, specify suitable test equipment and automate test systems. The team is currently responsible for testing, debugging and characterising high speed serial links, power supplies that can deliver high current and adapt to fast transients. We also debug and characteratize slower speed protocols like JTAG , I2C I3C and low level PCBA debug. 

Developing a deep understanding of Graphcore hardware and software products and how to operate them in a test environment is essential for this position.

You will be expected to understand relevant industry performance test standards, data analysis and presentation systems. Contributions are expected to span multiple areas and involve:

• Manual testing and debug of complex high speed SERDES which include PCIe Gen 6 and 112/224Gb PAM4 ethernet. This will require the use of high bandwidth oscilloscopes, BERTs and VNA’s, and the ability to understand complex IEEE standards.
• Designing and developing graphical user interfaces for controlling our products in a test environment. 
• development of test systems for Graphcore’s Machine Learning Accelerator products at a system and board level
• transfer of preproduction test system knowledge to the production test team.
• test coverage analysis and improvement.
• maintaining and development of our characterisation systems.
• automating tests In either Python or LabView.

Candidate Profile 

Essential:

• Ethernet and / or PCIe
• Project Planning
• Experience in development and automation of test systems for complex electronic systems
• Fluency in test scripting languages. Including Python and LabView
• Experience in development and automation of test systems for complex electronic systems
• self-starter 
• Strong written and oral communications, team-working and interpersonal skills

Desirable

• LPDDR, HBM interfaces
• High current fast transients power supplies
• Knowledge of Linux
• Knowledge of Bash scripts
• Previous experience of server verification

Job Summary

Reporting to the Firmware Manager, the Graduate Firmware Engineer will contribute to the design, development and delivery of the firmware that powers our next generation products. They are expected to take part in technical discussions across multiple teams within Graphcore and our partners.

The Team

The firmware team writes the software that ensures the full and complete bootup of Graphcore Hardware and Silicon. We design and maintain interfaces to allow our Drivers software to interact with Graphcore Silicon. We present telemetry and monitoring data for use by the host system via the SMBus interface, and by data centre operatives via the BMC.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Support the design, development and delivery of firmware code to the expected Graphcore standards
• Participate in technical design discussions within the Firmware team, other teams within Graphcore and our partners
• Participate in code reviews individually and as part of the team
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and actively improve Agile best practices within the team
• Contribute to and take part in in-depth technical design discussions with team members, bringing new ideas and innovative techniques to the team where possible
• Support engineers within the team and other teams to investigate and resolve firmware-related problems with our products

Candidate Profile

Essential:

• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Maths, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related field
• Understanding of Continuous Integration, build systems and software packaging best practices
• Introductory experience with C or Python

Desirable

• Experience of designing and implementing real-time embedded software, and subsequent verification
• Proven ability to understand, build and debug complex embedded platforms
• A good understanding of server architecture and performance in a datacentre environment
• Experience of device drivers and OS Kernel development
• A good understanding of server security from both a hardware and software perspective, and how this applies to the server firmware
