We are looking for a dedicated Automation Engineer to join Graphcore Ltd. in Bristol, UK. Responsibilities and Duties

• Build and implement CI/CD pipelines to manage configuration changes with validations, approvals, and deployment stages
• Develop and maintain configuration-as-code workflows, ensuring all modifications are version-controlled, auditable, and repeatable
• Build and maintain automated systems for provisioning projects, workflows, permissions, and configurations
• Implement approval gates, policy checks, and validation logic within pipelines to enforce governance and compliance

• Strong experience in DevOps, automation, or platform engineering roles
• Established expertise in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, CloudBees or equivalent)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Atlassian Cloud Platform Engineer to own our Atlassian Cloud ecosystem. This includes multiple sites and environments used for cross-company collaboration. 

This role is responsible for maintaining the architectural integrity, security stance, and scalable expansion of the Atlassian platform. An important part of this position involves creating and managing a configuration-as-code environment. In this setup, platform settings are handled via APIs, pipelines, and source control instead of manual management, which guarantees consistency, traceability, and adherence across all locations. 

You will serve as the primary platform owner, setting standards, ensuring governance, and promoting self-service features that help teams work efficiently while keeping security and configuration intact. 

Collaborating with Project Managers, engineering teams, and partners, you will build scalable workflows. You will also guide platform growth and ensure the Atlassian environment adapts to the organisation’s changing requirements.

This role begins with an active role that includes daily support, configuration, and onboarding efforts. At the same time, it involves growing the Atlassian platform team and setting up scalable processes.

• Manage and maintain multiple Atlassian Cloud sites, ensuring secure collaboration spaces that span different companies
• Act as the authoritative decision-maker for Atlassian configuration, preventing configuration drift and ensuring architectural consistency in all builds
• Define and enforce governance standards aligned with audit, compliance, and security requirements
• Establish and maintain a configuration-as-code operating model, ensuring all configuration is provisioned and managed through source control, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines
• Build and maintain automated identity and access provisioning, coordinated with Azure AD (or equivalent), ensuring access follows established rules and is auditable
• Lead automation efforts for project provisioning, workflows, permissions, and scheme management
• Develop and evolve self-service capabilities to standardise project setup and reduce administrative overhead
• Define and maintain best-practice configuration patterns across Jira and Confluence
• Ensure secure separation of internal and third-party collaboration environments, with awareness of data governance, export controls, and security boundaries
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on platform and workflow issues and implement preventative improvements
• Act as the final point of contact for complex Atlassian issues and provide enterprise-level support
• Deliver professional advice to Project Managers and engineering teams across diverse workflows and delivery models
• Provide direct assistance when needed, including collaborating with Project Managers and teams to set up projects and workflows, ensuring they align with platform standards and governance
• Coordinate identity and access integrations and drive automation of administrative processes through scripting and tooling
• Build, mentor, and grow the Atlassian platform team, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and methods of collaboration
• Proactively identify improvement opportunities and drive solutions.

Job Summary 

Reporting to the Head of Data & Analytics, the Lead Data Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for leading a key area of Graphcore’s data platform and engineering practices. This role combines hands-on technical delivery with technical leadership across data pipelines, platform capabilities and data products that support analytics, reportingand operational decision-making. Working closely with stakeholders across technical and business functions, the Lead Data Engineer helps shape the direction of the data platform, drives improvements to reliability, scalability and governance, and enables teams across Graphcore to make better use of trusted data. 

The Team 

The Data & Analytics team enables better decision-making across Graphcore by building trusted data foundations, scalable platforms and high-quality data products. The team works across a broad range of business and technical domains, partnering with colleagues throughout the company to improve access to reliable information, strengthen operational insightand support efficient, data-informed ways of working. Within this team, the Lead Data Engineer plays a key role in evolving the platform, setting engineering standards and delivering robust solutions that scale with business needs. 

Responsibilities and Duties 

• Lead the design, build and evolution of robust data pipelines and platform services that support analytics, reporting and operational use cases across Graphcore. 

• Own the data engineering stack, planning and delivering improvements to reliability, scalability, maintainability, performance and security. 

• Build and operate Python-based batch and streaming workflows, with clear approaches to orchestration, testing, deployment, monitoring and incident resolution. 

• Design and implement data solutions on AWS using services such as S3, Lambda, Aurora PostgreSQL, Athena, Glue and Redshift, ensuring they are secure, resilient and cost-conscious. 

• Define and apply engineering standards for data quality, observability, documentation, release processes and operational support. 

• Partner with analysts, engineers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into trusted datasets, well-structured data models and reusable data products. 

• Drive improvements to platform resilience through approaches such as idempotent processing, retry and recovery mechanisms, buffering strategies and backfill or replay capabilities. 

• Lead technical decision-making in your area by reviewing designs and code, sharing expertise and helping to raise the quality bar for data engineering across the team. 

• Build and maintain CI/CD workflows and development practices that enable safe, repeatable and efficient delivery of data infrastructure and workflows. 

• Ensure appropriate data protection and access controls are in place, including least-privilege access, secure secrets handling and suitable database permissions. 

• Contribute to the development of internal tools and lightweight applications that improve access to data and support self-serve workflows. 

• Work across teams to identify opportunities for platform and process improvements, helping shape the direction of data engineering within the wider Data & Analytics function.

• Strong experience designing, building and operating production-grade data pipelines and data platforms in Python. 

• Strong hands-on experience with modern data orchestration, testing, deployment and monitoring practices in a production environment. 

• Experience building solutions on AWS data services, including storage, processing and query technologies. 

• Strong understanding of data modelling, data quality, schema design and performance optimisation across relational and analytical systems. 

• Experience designing reliable data systems that recover gracefully from failure and operate effectively in real-world production conditions. 

• Experience working with batch and streaming data pipelines, including operational support, troubleshooting and continuous improvement. 

• Strong knowledge of security and access control principles for data platforms, including IAM, database permissions and secure handling of credentials and secrets. 

• Experience providing technical leadership as a senior individual contributor through design reviews, code reviews, standards-setting and mentoring of others. 

• Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, turning business needs into practical, scalable data solutions. 

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions clearly and influence outcomes across teams.

• Experience with Prefect or a similar workflow orchestration platform.

• Experience with PostgreSQL, Redshift, ClickHouse or similar database and warehouse technologies.

Required:

• 3+ in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML — and ideally additional experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
• Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed code (.NET) and native code.
• Proven track record of designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications, with an emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows (e.g. Microsoft UI Automation or similar), and a dedication to building accessible and inclusive software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading or asynchronous programming (where relevant).
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring other engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
• Strong communication skills; ability to articulate tradeoffs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive consensus.
• A user-centric mindset: focus on building polished, intuitive, and accessible experiences for end users.

• Experience with writing automated tests for UI — unit tests, integration tests, UI automation tests; familiarity with relevant testing frameworks.
• Experience with performance optimization for desktop apps (memory usage, startup time, rendering performance, high-DPI support, responsiveness under load).
• Experience with localization/globalization, right-to-left UI support, internationalization, accessibility for multiple regions.
• Familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring in desktop applications.
• Previous experience in shaping CI/CD workflows, release pipelines, and deployment strategies for desktop applications.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of feature areas or modules and drive them long-term, including maintenance, refactoring, and technical debt management.
