The Information Security Engineer performs all processes and procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems, services, and networks. In addition, the primary responsibility is to lead security assessments, implement, configure, and manage existing security tools, deploy new security tools, and assist infosec staff on necessary projects and activities.
Responsibilities:
- Assess information security processes and design more efficient methods using available tools including generative AI
- Oversee the Implementation and management of Infosec applications, services and tools such as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Threat and Vulnerability Management (TVM), Software and application inventory security management, Email and communications security, and more.
- Optimization and application of monitoring solutions to track and detect potential security issues.
- Conduct security, vulnerability, and risk assessments across services, cloud and applications, using both automated tools, manual testing procedures, and generative AI.
- Involved in all aspects of Incident Response.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in information security, information systems, or similar preferred
- Relevant industry certification in information security, management information systems security or similar preferred
- Experience leveraging generative AI in your security testing workflows , automations and processes
- Certifications in relevant securing relevant business applications
- Minimum 3+ years experience in information security and Technology or related role
- Demonstrated practical knowledge in information security, IT, internet concepts, and business applications.
- Some experience with infosec testing tools and scripts.
- Some experience working with relevant security applications such as EDR, MDM, Email Security, IdP, AWS, Azure, solutions.
- Familiar with implementing secure IT/Infosec SaaS applications.
- Familiar with OWASP top 10,MITRE ATT&CK Framework, as well as other relevant frameworks.
- Knowledge of various operating systems, ChromeOS, Linux, Mac, Windows.
- Able to navigate the linux command line and write basic scripts
- Strong verbal and written communications
- Excellent time management and organization skills

The Product Security Engineer performs all processes and procedures necessary to ensure the safety of KnowBe4 applications and cloud environments. In addition, the primary responsibility is to protect the privacy, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of company and customer data by conducting security assessments, triaging security findings and having a proactive approach in assisting the IT and engineering teams to develop secure applications and secure our cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular security assessments and code reviews to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security standards.
- Develop and maintain threat models for products, understanding potential threats and devising strategies to mitigate them.
- Integrate security practices into the software development lifecycle, ensuring that security is considered at each stage of development.
- Identify, assess, and coordinate the remediation of vulnerabilities within products. This includes staying up-to-date with the latest security threats and trends.
- Implement and maintain security tools and automation systems to streamline security processes for product security
- Participate in incident response activities, helping to manage and mitigate security incidents related to the product.
- Provide training and guidance to development teams on best practices in secure coding and product design.
- Ensure products comply with relevant industry security standards and regulations.
- Work closely with engineering, product management, and other teams to ensure security is a key consideration in all aspects of product development and deployment.
- Stay abreast of the latest security research, technologies, and methods to continuously improve product security.
- Conduct risk analysis to understand the impact of potential security threats and develop risk management strategies.
- Develop and enforce security policies and procedures related to product development and maintenance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in information security, information systems, or similar experience preferred
- Relevant field or experience in IT and infosec.
- Experience working in AWS and with Terraform
- Has strong understanding of information security, including a broad range of exposure to cloud infrastructure, systems analysis and application development, vulnerability scanning, policies and procedures, and audits.
- Experience with cloud computing environments including infrastructure as code, containers and functions.
- Strong knowledge of CWE top 25 and OWASP top 10 vulnerabilities
- Understanding of MITRE ATT&CK matrix
- Experience with code development and can read and understand source code in several programming languages such as Ruby, PHP, Go, JS, Python.
- Automated and Manual Web, Mobile and Traditional application pentesting experience
- Experience with scripting and building automations leveraging tools such as Python and tools such as Claude Code
- Experience leveraging AI in your security testing workflows and processes
- Have a strong networking and security understanding
- Understanding of modern web application development technologies such as MVC, JWT, GraphQL
- Experience with Burp Suite, SAST, DAST, Container and Dependency Scanning tools
- Security certification such as OSWE, OSCP, CISSP, GPEN, CEH, CCSP, AWS desired.

About the Team
KnowBe4's Platform Services group is the engineering backbone that the entire product organization runs on. We build the shared infrastructure, APIs, and frontend frameworks that power HRM+ and the growing suite of KnowBe4 products — so that every product team can ship faster, safer, and at scale.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Engineering team, you'll work across the full stack: building Vue 3 micro-frontends, .NET Lambda APIs, and event-driven services on AWS. You'll collaborate closely with product, design, and the engineers shipping the HRM+ console and its integrations — tools that security and HR teams rely on to manage and protect their organizations.
We believe the best engineers own their work end-to-end. That means writing the API, shipping the UI, and wiring the infrastructure — and doing it in a way that the engineer who touches it next says, "this is well done."
What You'll Build
- Micro-frontend applications for HRM+ using Vue 3, TypeScript, and the single-spa framework — from shared navigation components to feature MFEs that compose into the HRM+ shell
- RESTful and GraphQL APIs deployed as AWS Lambda functions in C# (.NET 8/9), backed by DynamoDB, integrated with internal auth and identity services
- Event-driven services that process asynchronous workloads via SQS, including messaging integrations with Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Google Chat
- Shared frontend SDKs and component libraries consumed by multiple product teams — design-system-aligned, versioned, and published to internal NPM registries
- Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform for multi-environment AWS deployments (dev, staging, production across multiple regions)
- CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI that build, test, and deploy services to AWS via shared devex pipeline components
Education and Experience

Role Summary
KnowBe4's Platform Services group builds the infrastructure that every product team depends on. At the Staff level, you're not just contributing to that foundation — you're shaping it. You'll work at the intersection of identity, platform reliability, and developer experience, solving problems that have direct impact on every engineer and every customer at KnowBe4.
The identity and auth platform you'll help lead underpins session management, single sign-on, user provisioning, and cross-product authorization for the entire KnowBe4 product suite. The decisions made here ripple across every engineering team at KnowBe4 and the end-user sessions of a global customer base. We need engineers who can think at that scale, communicate across organizational boundaries, and write production-quality code — not just direct others to.
This is a technical individual contributor role. You'll lead through your engineering, your judgment, and your ability to bring others along with you.
What You'll Build
- Session and identity APIs in Rust deployed as AWS Lambda functions — high-throughput, low-latency services handling JWT validation, session lifecycle, and encrypted token management across multiple AWS regions
- Identity provider integrations — orchestration and configuration of Auth0 and Keycloak tenants, IDP sync services, and SSO/OIDC broker logic that spans legacy and modern auth systems
- User provisioning and lifecycle services — the USPS (User Provisioning Service) and UPMS (User Permission Management Service) layers that synchronize user state across products, CRM systems, and identity stores
- Cross-team platform SDKs — auth libraries in Rust, C#, and TypeScript consumed by multiple engineering teams; these are the APIs that teams depend on, so design quality and backward compatibility matter deeply
- Distributed event infrastructure — DFS (Distributed Feedback Service) subscribers, SQS-based event pipelines, and the message routing layer that coordinates state changes across bounded contexts
- Infrastructure-as-Code at scale — multi-account, multi-region Terraform that provisions and governs the identity and platform layer across development, staging, and production environments
- Technical direction — architecture reviews, RFC-style design proposals, mentorship of senior engineers, and cross-team coordination on platform-level changes

- Distributed systems design — event-driven architecture, eventual consistency, message queues, idempotency, saga patterns
- Terraform at scale — multi-account, multi-region IaC; module design, state management, OIDC-based CI deploy patterns
- API design leadership — designing APIs consumed by multiple teams; versioning strategy, backward compatibility, contract testing
- GitLab CI/CD — pipeline design, shared components, multi-environment deployment patterns
- Technical communication — design docs, RFCs, architecture reviews; ability to synthesize complexity into clear proposals
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Rust — production experience is a strong differentiator; familiarity with the async ecosystem (tokio, axum, reqwest, serde) particularly valued
- C# / .NET (8+) — Lambda AOT compilation, ASP.NET Core, Native AOT targeting linux-arm64

What You’ll Do

- Achieve mastery of all Axon technologies / products
- Use exceptional written and oral communication skills to lead business and technical presentations effectively
- Have technical conversations with IT departments, including CIOs, as well as channel partner leadership and technical stakeholders
- Set and manage expectations with customers and team members
- Provide 1st-level technical support throughout the pre-sales cycle for opportunities
- Remain organized and focused on removing sales obstacles through creativity and adaptation to rapidly changes circumstances
- Develop relationships with key partners for growth within their customer base
- Effectively position the technology against competitive offerings
- Be responsible for representing the products, company values, and brand to customers and at field events such as industry and user conferences, tech summits, etc.
- Take ownership of the POC/Pilot process: Coordinate logistics across all stakeholders, assess customer requirements/objectives, and tailor POC tests and findings, accordingly, assist prospects with initial configuration and orientation
