The Role

As a Product Engineer at Counterpart, you own problems and drive outcomes. You iron out requirements with stakeholders, partners, and customers. You leverage AI for implementation. You verify the end-to-end result. You iterate until you move the needle.

You run projects with other Product Engineers and AI agents. You know when to delegate to a human, when to delegate to an agent, and when to do it yourself. 

YOU WILL

Own the Problem

• Take accountability for the outcome. 
• Talk directly to your users, stakeholders, and peers to discover the problem. 
• Translate business intents into functional requirements that engineers and agents can build against. Determine where human judgment is non-negotiable and where AI can augment or act autonomously. 
• Own the non-functional technical requirements. Specify the quality bar: performance, scalability, reliability, security, maintainability.

Build with AI

• Write production-quality code across the stack: Python, Django, AWS, React, and PostgreSQL. You are not afraid of any layer.
• Direct agents and review their output with domain depth. Catch what they miss across the functional and non-functional bar: correctness, edge cases, performance, security, testability, readability.
• Evaluate and improve agent output regularly. Track failure modes. Refine the prompts and patterns that lift the quality ceiling over time.
• Run projects that span other Product Engineers and agents. Coordinate work, manage dependencies, and keep things moving without micromanaging.
• Contribute to architectural decisions. Bring options and alternatives, not objections. Know when the elegant solution is the wrong call for a startup moving fast.
• Contribute to and manage the context harness as you build and deliver.

Verify and Iterate

• Surface delivery risks early. Bring solutions, not just problems. Keep your stakeholders informed without turning every risk into a meeting.
• Verify the end-to-end result yourself. Confirm the system does what the requirements say, and that the requirements were right.
• Drive adoption of what you ship. Documentation, enablement, and usage monitoring are part of the job.
• Monitor your services in production. Own the signal. Debug and fix what breaks.
• Participate in support rotations. When users run into issues with what you shipped, you investigate and fix them.
• Iterate until you move the needle. Shipping is not the finish line. Outcome is.

Raise the Bar

• Mentor engineers around you. Give direct, useful feedback. Leave things better than you found them.
• Make deliberate calls on technical debt: when to accumulate it, when to pay it down, when to refactor. Translate trade-offs into language that business leaders can act on.
• Operate to the engineering standards for quality, reliability, and operational excellence.

YOU HAVE

• 10+ years building production web applications across the full stack. The years are the floor, not the bar. What matters is whether you have actually done this: owned a problem end-to-end, written the spec, built the thing, coordinated the work, and shipped it without someone else holding the thread.
• Demonstrated experience gathering requirements directly. You have interviewed users, customers, and partner teams, and turned ambiguous intent into specs that engineers and agents can build against.
• Demonstrated experience owning both functional and non-functional requirements. You have defined what a system must do and held the line on how well it must do it.
• A track record of owning a domain or initiative without close supervision. You have navigated ambiguity, made judgment calls, and been accountable for the outcome.
• Extreme ownership and a bias for action. You do not sit and wait. You chase stakeholders, customers, and answers when you need them.
• Experience coordinating across engineers and AI agents on a shared initiative. You have managed the work without holding a formal management title.
• Strong technical judgment and the depth to catch what AI-generated code gets wrong: not syntax, but correctness, architecture, intent.
• Proficiency with Python and Django. Working knowledge of TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in developing with AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, similar) and the drive to stay ahead of how AI development practices are evolving.
• Domain curiosity. You learn the business context your work supports, not just the systems. You understand why the problem matters, not just how to solve it.
• The ability to communicate clearly across engineering, product, and business, translating technical complexity without losing meaning.
• Low ego and high Emotional Quotient (EQ). You influence without authority, take feedback well, and leave your ego out of technical decisions.
• Experience working with distributed, remote teams.

HOW THIS ROLE WORKS

Product Engineering exists to collapse the distance between a problem and a working solution. You own a problem or part of a vision. You shape it with stakeholders. You build it with AI. You verify it end-to-end. You iterate until the metric moves.

You work within the Context Architecture, a shared system of documentation, design patterns, and domain knowledge that gives you the technical context to make autonomous decisions at every step.

This is not a role for engineers who need to be told how. It is a role for engineers who can take a problem, fill in the gaps with good judgment, and ship something that works.

Our estimated pay range for this role is USD $90,000 - $110,000 annually. Contractor compensation is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, market data, location, internal equitability, and experience.

We’re looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to improve reliability and stability of Webflow’s customer-facing, production infrastructure, serving millions of page views per hour. Our product is used by over 2 million users world-wide across 190 countries, and you’ll help ensure our platform is secure and scalable for these users as tens of thousands of projects are launched on Webflow each month.

As an Senior Infrastructure Engineer you will:

• Own and evolve the cloud substrate that Webflow's product and engineering teams depend on, including our compute layer, EKS fleet, networking, and cloud operations across AWS and GCP.
• Design and maintain the networking fabric that connects Webflow's services, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability across our cloud environments.
• Build and enforce guardrails around IAM, SCPs, and scoping permissions that keep infrastructure secure and auditable without slowing engineers down.
• Drive FinOps across Webflow's cloud footprint, owning cost attribution, right-sizing recommendations, and surfacing waste before it becomes a problem.
• Partner with Infra teams on instance type selection, capacity planning, and right-sizing decisions that impact application performance.
• Build and maintain AI-powered automation that improves how we manage cloud infrastructure, from policy-as-code and drift detection to LLM-assisted runbook generation.
• Help define the culture of this growing team as it expands its international presence.

About you 

You’ll thrive as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer if you:

• Have a background as an infrastructure or cloud engineer with an enthusiasm for automation and code, or a background as a software engineer with deep enthusiasm for cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Have 5+ years of experience owning and operating cloud infrastructure in a customer-facing environment that allows for little to no downtime.
• Have deep hands-on experience with AWS and a strong opinion on what good cloud operations look like.
• Have experience managing Kubernetes clusters at scale, including upgrades, node group management, autoscaling, and cluster add-on lifecycle.
• Have experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Pulumi or Terraform, and a strong preference for changes made through code, not consoles.
• Have experience navigating multi-region or multi-cloud environments on AWS or GCP.
• Stay curious and open to growth, demonstrating a proactive embrace of AI, and actively building and applying fluency in emerging technologies to elevate how we work, drive faster outcomes, and expand collective impact.

It would be a bonus if you had even one of the following:

• Experience with Karpenter, cluster autoscaler, or other Kubernetes-native scaling tooling.
• Experience with GCP infrastructure alongside AWS in a multi-cloud environment.
• Experience building AI-assisted infrastructure tooling, including cost optimization loops, anomaly detection, or policy-as-code with LLM assistance.
• Experience contributing to multi-region architecture including data residency, regional failover, or latency-based routing.

• AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Antigravity
• Languages: Python, TypeScript, Go, JavaScript, Java (and other languages common in the open source ecosystem)
• Backblaze B2 SDKs and REST APIs
• Open source AI frameworks and tooling (e.g. LangChain, LlamaIndex, vector databases)
• SQL and NoSQL backend development (experience with large-scale distributed databases a plus)
• GitHub, pytest, CI/CD pipelines
• Large-scale server infrastructure (Linux, cross-platform awareness)

The Right Fit:

• 2+ years of backend software engineering experience, ideally on systems that serve millions of users across multiple platforms.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Java, Python, TypeScript, or similar); comfortable picking up new languages as needed.
• Practical understanding of AI workflows — data ingestion, preprocessing, inference, and agent-based orchestration.
• Experience building or working with large-scale APIs and distributed storage or data systems.
• Production-quality coding habits: rigorous testing, clear documentation, and attention to security and performance.
• Customer-focused mindset — you think about the developer and end-user experience in everything you build.
• Strong written communication skills; you can explain technical decisions clearly to both engineers and non-engineers.
• Good attitude, cross-functional collaboration skills, and a genuine desire to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.

Bonus Points For:

• Experience building or evaluating AI agents and multi-step tool-use systems.
• Experience with Cassandra or other large-scale NoSQL systems.
• Familiarity with ReactJS or front-end frameworks.
• Prior work with vector databases or embedding pipelines.

About the Role

As a IT Security Specialist, Identity & Access Management (IAM), you’ll support and improve access, permissions, and identity workflows across complex enterprise systems. You’ll work in a security-as-code environment where access changes are requested through pull requests, validated through CI/CD pipelines, and deployed into critical systems such as Okta, LDAP, and SCIM-connected platforms. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving system access challenges, supporting users across technical levels, and ensuring secure, reliable identity operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support security change requests submitted through pull requests
• Review and track security-related changes through CI/CD pipelines to ensure successful deployment
• Provision, modify, and support user access to internal and cloud-based resources
• Manage permissions, team memberships, and identity configurations across IAM systems
• Support and troubleshoot access issues for technical and non-technical users
• Provision and manage secrets for systems and services
• Authorize and provision bots and service accounts
• Communicate status updates, blockers, and security-related issues clearly across teams

As a Senior Site Reliability Contractor, you will be involved in coding infrastructure automation with Terraform and Github Actions CI/CD. In this role, you will focus on improving our monitoring using Datadog, Sentry, and Cloudwatch. It will be critical to improve and automate our release processes to deploy Newsela services. You will have the opportunity to develop a rapport with a domain of application developers to improve infrastructure and monitoring for Newsela services in their ownership

What You'll Be Doing:

• Be on an on-call rotation to respond to incidents that impact Newsela.com availability and provide support for developers during internal and external incidents 
• Maintain and assist in extending our infrastructure with Terraform, Github Actions CI/CD, Prefect, and AWS services
• Build monitoring that alerts on symptoms rather than outages using Datadog, Sentry and CloudWatch
• Look for ways to turn repeatable manual actions into automations to reduce on-call toil
• Improve operational processes (such as deployments, releases, migrations, etc) to make them run seamlessly with fault tolerance in mind 
• Design, build and maintain core cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP that enables scaling to support thousands of concurrent users

Build out  a cloud‑native team that owns the entire software delivery life cycle on Amazon Web Services. ABOUT THE ROLE

Build out  a cloud‑native team that owns the entire software delivery life cycle on Amazon Web Services. You will combine deep Kubernetes expertise with Python and shell scripting to automate, monitor, and continuously improve the Linqia platform while driving FinOps practices to keep our cloud footprint efficient. Work in a GitOps culture where every change is delivered through pull requests and rolled out by automated pipelines.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Design, maintain, and evolve our AWS account structure, VPC networking, IAM policies, security boundaries, and cost‑management controls using Terraform and the AWS console
• Maintain secure networking layers with AWS load balancers, ingress controllers, service‑mesh policies, network policies, and zero‑trust principles
• Operate and harden production‑grade Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS, including upgrades, service mesh, policy management, and multi‑cluster architectures driven by Argo CD
• Build reusable infrastructure‑as‑code modules with Terraform that provision cloud resources in minutes while enforcing tagging standards and least‑privilege access
• Create self‑service CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins and GitHub Actions for fast, safe releases with automated testing and promotion across environments
• Deliver real‑time observability with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and OpenTelemetry, and use these tools to assist in solving production bugs and issues
• Administer and maintain purpose-built Linux VMs via configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, or Chef
• Deploy, scale, and maintain databases on AWS (Aurora, PostgreSQL, MySQL, OpenSearch, etc.), maintaining high database performance/uptime, optimizing tables and datasets, and ensuring disaster recovery protocols are in place.  
• Support developers by maintaining Podman‑based local dev boxes and Kubernetes staging environments that mirror production, ensuring smooth hand‑off from local code to cloud‑native deployments
• Implement FinOps practices: track and forecast AWS spend, enforce cost‑allocation tagging, identify rightsizing opportunities, manage Savings Plans or Reserved Instances, and build cost‑optimisation dashboards for engineering and finance stakeholders
• Write automation utilities and command‑line tools in Python and craft shell scripts that glue components and workflows together
• Champion reliability through incident reviews, capacity planning, game days, chaos testing, and service‑level objective tracking
• Collaborate in Agile rituals, plan sprints, refine backlog tickets, and pair with peers to spread DevOps and FinOps best practices

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• three plus years working with cloud infrastructure or platform engineering focused on AWS
• Deep hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, preferably EKS, covering upgrades, networking, storage, RBAC, and custom resources
• Proficiency in Python and Bash or Zsh scripting
• Strong understanding of core AWS services EC2, VPC, IAM, ALB, S3, RDS, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch
• Demonstrated experience applying FinOps principles: cost monitoring, forecasting, and optimisation on AWS
• Solid experience with Docker and container runtimes, with emphasis on Podman for local development environments
• Hands‑on practice with configuration‑management tools such as Ansible or Puppet and infrastructure‑as‑code with Terraform
• Proven use of Datadog for metrics, logs, and APM, plus familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana dashboards
• Comfortable with Git‑based workflows, feature branching, and pull‑request reviews
• Strong SQL skills and a deep understanding of relational database internals
• Competent in Linux administration, process troubleshooting, and performance tuning
• Practical knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, DNS, and common networking tools
• Clear communication skills and an ability to translate complex technical topics to diverse audiences
• Familiarity with Scrum or Kanban and a continuous‑improvement mindset

EXTRA CREDIT

• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or FinOps Practitioner
• Experience with AWS security tooling GuardDuty, Security Hub, IAM Access Analyzer, and KMS
• Building data pipelines with Apache Spark, Flink, or similar frameworks
• Implementing event‑driven architectures with Kafka Streams or KSQL
• Applying SRE practices such as error budgets and service‑level dashboards
• Exposure to machine‑learning workflows, ModelOps, or MLOps in production

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for our Foundation Services Team. This team focuses on the essential services that power identity, access, and integrations. In this role, you will build and maintain highly available APIs designed to manage the orchestration of users and resources at scale.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with modern data, containerization, and observability:

- Vitess, Cassandra, and Redis backend development.
- Docker and container-based environments.

• Comfortable working in a cross-platform environment (we develop on MacBooks for software that runs on Linux).
• Solid understanding of HTTP principles and secure access best practices.
