About Backblaze
Backblaze is the object storage leader in the open cloud movement, fueling customer success with cloud storage built purposefully to unlock budgets, unburden administrators, and unleash innovators. Together with our partners, we’re helping customers break free from the restrictive, overpriced legacy solutions that hold them back, and blaze forward with the full power of the open cloud in their hands.
Founded in 2007, we scaled the business with less than $3 million in outside funding until 2021, when we did a traditional IPO on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Today, Backblaze generates over $100M in revenue and is the leading specialized storage cloud — managing over three billion gigabytes of data storage for 500K+ customers in 175+ countries, including businesses, developers, IT professionals, and individuals.
But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We’re seeking a Growth Marketing Director to join our team.
The Director of Growth owns the self-serve revenue engine end-to-end — from top-of-funnel acquisition strategy through product-led growth, activation, and expansion — and operates with cross-functional authority across Product, Engineering, Marketing Ops, and our paid acquisition agency. This is not a funnel repair job or a lifecycle marketing role. It’s a growth leadership role for someone who thinks first about where new users come from, and second about everything else.
This is a specific hire for a specific kind of company. We’re not looking for a generalist demand gen leader or a lifecycle marketer. We need someone who has been here before — at a developer-centric infrastructure company, building growth motion from a strong foundation into something structurally durable.
|
Dimension |
What We’re Looking For |
|
Company background |
Developer tools, cloud infrastructure, or IaaS. Your customer was technical. |
|
PLG ownership |
You’ve built a PLG motion. You’ve designed product qualification logic, activation funnels, and self-serve to sales-led handoffs. |
|
Acquisition instinct |
When you see flat signups, your first question is “where’s the traffic problem,” not “what email can we send.” |
|
Product sense |
You can write a credible brief, push back on deprioritized engineering tickets, and build a business case for product investment without a PM. |
|
Developer channels |
You understand Reddit, Hacker News, dev communities, technical content, GitHub presence, and DevRel-adjacent programs — not just as awareness plays, but as acquisition channels. |
|
Data fluency |
You own numbers directly. You’re comfortable presenting signups, activation rates, and conversion alongside the strategy driving them. |
|
Influence without authority |
You drive cross-functional action — engineering prioritization, agency direction, partner alignment — through partnership and persuasion, not org chart. |
At Backblaze, we value being fair and good to our customers, partners, and employees. That’s why diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of our values. We are committed to fostering a workforce where all employees feel a sense of belonging regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, socio-economic status, ability, veteran status, and education. We believe that our dedication to cultivating a diverse workspace not only allows us to better serve our customers in over 175 countries but further reinforces our commitment to doing the right thing. We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, it has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 50 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.
Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.
If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.
Our Data Team is a highly dynamic and innovative group that excels in solving complex business challenges and propelling the growth of an enterprise through our analytical expertise. We provide crucial insights that empower individuals across the company to make better decisions, ultimately increasing efficiency. If you have a passion for shaping the future of an organization with your analytical skills, this role offers an exciting opportunity to fulfill your aspirations.
Analytics Engineers at CookUnity are data product owners who sit in a single team on a mission to minimize time spent by analysts and data scientists discovering, understanding and preparing data before launching into their work. Each analytics engineer has ownership and autonomy over a set of entities / tables in a domain, collaborating on a single data design from first principles that the team owns together. As their products mature they merchandise them as Tableau Connections, extracts into sheets or any other end point needed to achieve their mission.
Some analytics engineers have an interest in data infrastructure and integrations, others in bringing their data to life through interactive visualizations but all have the skills to work with unruly raw data, design analytics friendly data products (incl entities and flat tables) and build them to a production standard that the whole company can rely on. Everyone in data at CookUnity comes with a high agency mindset, a passion for collaborating with others, a pattern of achievement and a sincere interest in investing in their own development.

Job Description:
We are seeking an AI Enablement Engineer to design and scale the semantic layer that turns raw restaurant data into a shared language for AI, analytics, and decision-making across a global Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) enterprise. This is a foundational role in our AI strategy: the semantic layer you build is what makes natural language analytics, automated reporting, and intelligent AI agents possible at enterprise scale. Your focus is bridging business meaning and data, ensuring that AI systems, analytics platforms, and end users consistently interpret critical metrics like same-store sales, speed of service, traffic, and labor productivity in a standardized, governed way. When an AI agent or a franchisee asks "how did my restaurant perform last week," the accuracy and trust of that answer starts with your work.
You will define and operationalize a hybrid semantic layer strategy that combines governed, metadata-driven models with AI-powered context engineering to enable scalable, accurate, and self-service insights across restaurants, corporate teams, and franchisees, unlocking the building blocks for conversational analytics and autonomous AI workflows.

We're looking for a Data Engineer who can handle both the operational side of data infrastructure keeping pipelines healthy, debugging issues, tuning performance and the architectural side of building event-driven systems for AI-powered products. You'll work across different client projects, from supporting existing data stacks to designing new pipelines for real-time behavioral analytics and machine learning workloads.
What are the main responsibilities of this role?
On some projects, you'll be the person keeping the engine running: monitoring ingestion pipelines, triaging alerts, tuning warehouse performance, and making sure scheduled jobs don't break. On others, you'll be designing and building new data infrastructure from scratch event-driven architectures, real-time signal processing, and data models that power AI agents and ML pipelines. You'll need to be comfortable switching between these modes depending on what the project needs
You're someone who can operate independently once you understand the context. You know how to read logs, trace data issues, and fix things without panicking. You communicate clearly both with technical teammates and with clients who may not speak data fluently. You're equally comfortable stabilizing a legacy system and designing something new. You ask good questions before diving in.
Which skills and experience do we envision for this role?
