Senior Java Engineer

The Senior Java Engineer will be responsible for architecture by partnering with the application architect, developing new or existing architecture designs, and maintaining scalable applications utilising coding best practices. The right candidate will have worked on all levels of the tech stack, have extensive experience writing well-tested production-quality code, and is familiar with CI/CD pipelines and code release processes. Excellent spoken and written communication skills (English) are essential for this remote position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the application architect on system design and architecture.
• Develop, test, and maintain scalable, high-performance applications using best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly, identifying root causes and implementing robust solutions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends, integrating them into existing applications where appropriate.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure high code quality, security, and maintainability.

The Essentials:

• 5+ years of experience with Java.
• 3+ years of experience with any JavaScript UI frameworks 
• Strong Experience with Java Frameworks like Spring MVC.
• Outstanding English communication skills (both written and spoken).
• Expertise in developing high-performance Batch Jobs.
• In-depth knowledge of system and architecture design fundamentals.
• Experience with both relational databases (Oracle, MySQL). Good knowledge of database queries.
• API development experience, including designing and consuming REST APIs.( Native Services)
• Solid experience working with AWS or other cloud platforms, including services like ECS, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS...etc.
• Strong understanding of application Spring security best practices.
• Committed to writing well-tested, high-quality code with strong documentation.
• Proficient with version control tools like Git (GitHub experience preferred).
• Self-driven problem solver who can troubleshoot any issues/bugs that arise until a viable solution is found.
• Ability to work both as part of a team and operate independently, as appropriate.
• Some experience writing unit and integration tests.

Other Desired Skillsets:

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools.
• Experience working with Digital Asset Management systems.

Nice to Have:

• Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, and building responsive web applications (experience with Bootstrap/javaScript/react or similar frameworks preferred).

  Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Who you’ll be working with

You’ll lead a DevOps team consisting of Senior, Mid-level, and Associate DevOps Engineers, driving execution, collaboration, and delivery across projects. You will work closely with engineering leadership, product management, and cross-functional teams.This role requires a balance of hands-on execution and team leadership, ensuring high-quality delivery, system reliability, and continuous improvement.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead and manage a team of DevOps engineers, driving task prioritization, execution, and delivery quality
• Perform end-to-end security and infrastructure audits across the projects
• Stay equally engaged in hands-on technical work and leadership, contributing to critical infrastructure and resolving complex issues
• Own and drive team OKRs and key initiatives, aligning with engineering and business goals
• Act as the primary point of coordination and escalation for infrastructure, deployment, and production-related issues
• Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and architectural direction to the team
• Architect and manage multi-cloud environments (AWS / Azure / GCP)
• Drive adoption and standardization of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Ensure best practices for security, observability, monitoring, and system reliability
• Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Identify opportunities for automation, cost optimization, and performance improvements

What you’ll need to be successful (Requirements)

Must have skills:

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps / Platform Engineering
• Proven experience in leading or mentoring DevOps teams and driving delivery
• Strong hands-on experience on at least two of the following cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience in project planning, task prioritization, and team coordination across multiple workstreams
• Strong understanding of system architecture, scalability, and reliability principles
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
• Deep expertise in containerization and orchestration
• Experience driving CI/CD strategy and standardizing release automation practices
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, including CDN, DNS, and load balancing, in production environments
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and incident management practices
• Strong understanding of security best practices (IAM, secrets, access control)

Nice to have skills:

• Relevant cloud certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, Google Cloud Engineer, etc.)
• Familiarity with building and scaling DevOps processes and standards across projects
• Exposure to budgeting, cost optimization strategies, or FinOps practices
• Experience in defining and tracking OKRs, KPIs, and team performance metrics
