Job Purpose
This hands on role is responsible for leading and managing an operational team through all facets of the order processing and dispatch process within the warehouse function. The foundation of the role is to ensure all Health & Safety criteria is adhered to in terms of policies, RAMs and the correct utilisation of MHE to ensure team and environment safety. You will review order flow and team capacity, ensuring that labour provision matches demand to meet the operational requirement and ensure all orders are released and despatched in accordance to the OTIF KPI targets. You will liaise closely with the goods in and replenishment team to ensure that inventory supply and locations are fully replenished to maximise order picking efficiency.
You will co ordinate the team to ensure that all timed deliveries and specialised portal bookings are processed in accordance with customer and network requirements. Any order discrepancies will be worked through to resolution with the appropriate members of the supply chain team.
You will be part of the team responsible for stock investigations and operational inventory management, as required. Contribute to and lead Daily Operational team meetings, as required.
As team leader you will be part of a team that scopes and drives continuous improvement across all facets of the distribution centre function.
Requirements
Order processing and despatch
- Lead the order flow and despatch process and coordinate:
- Order release. Ensure all orders are released to each station on time in accordance with operational KPI’s.
- Order picking – Ensure the correct resource is given to each station to meet demand requirements. Ensure that the WMS scanners are charged, in good condition and used in accordance with the WMS SOP.
- Order packing and labelling – Ensure that all despatches are processed in accordance with delivery requirements that meet the customer needs and adhere to the despatch SOP.
- Loading of finished goods; ensure all goods completed goods are palletised for network deliveries, caged for couriers or loose for any smaller collections as required to meet courier requirements.
- Ensure correct MHE and dock system is used for the relevant collecting vehicles and allocate team members to complete this as required.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as orders per day efficiency, quality holds, dispatch accuracy, on-time delivery, labour utilization, and inventory levels, initial pick accuracy. OTIF failures, special instruction request failures.
- Ensure despatch consumables are ordered and fully stocked.
- Ensure team keep work areas clean, tidy, and organised in line with 5S and Health & Safety standards.
- When duties are completed help with general warehousing tasks and requirements
- Liaise with wider supply chain time to work through order queries to point of resolution.
- Assist with monthly stock counts, cycle counting, and inventory audits when needed.
- Support the wider warehouse operation during busy periods to meet operational demand across picking, packing, dispatch.
Other Responsibilities
- Lead monthly team member reviews and PPMs .
- Keyholder for the Warehouse site (Tier 1)
- Support other Warehouse Team Leaders, as required
- Rotate Team Leader role through Goods Receipt & Replenishment, Order Processing & Despatch and Manufacturing & Returns
- In accordance with management planning, contribute to the scope and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
