Location: Chicago, IL - Hybrid (3 days/week in office) 

Salary: $95,000 – $125,000 

 

About the Role 

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing the accounting operations. This position combines traditional accounting responsibilities with forward-looking financial analysis and strategic planning, reporting directly to the assistant controller with significant exposure to the CFO.

 

What You'll Do:

• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements
   
• Manage and review account reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet accounts and tax requests/payments 

• Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and internal control procedures 

• Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits 

• Review work of accounting / shared services staff for accuracy and completeness 

• Collaborate with IT to enhance financial systems and automate manual processes 

• Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed 

Who You Are:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, CPA required 

• 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial analysis 

• Big 4 or top 10 accounting firm experience highly preferred 

• Advanced Excel skills (vlookup/pivots/sumifs/financial modeling) 

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements 

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities 

Other preferences 

• Familiarity with trade lifecycle and settlement accounting for equities, futures, and options 

• Experience with broker-dealer regulatory reporting strongly preferred
