Network Engineer (Cisco, Palo Alto, BGP & Enterprise Infrastructure) – Remote

About the Role

At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring a Network Engineer to design, configure, secure, and maintain enterprise-grade network infrastructure across production environments.

This is a hands-on infrastructure role focused on routing and switching, firewalls, VPNs, network security, monitoring, cloud networking, and performance optimization. You’ll work across enterprise environments using Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and hybrid cloud technologies to ensure secure, reliable, and highly available networks.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Network Infrastructure

• Configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Work across networking platforms including Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and Fortinet.
• Configure and manage:
• VLANs
• QoS
• VPN tunnels
• ACLs
• Network segmentation
• Implement and maintain routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
• Perform firmware upgrades, hardware maintenance, patch management, and infrastructure improvements.
• Support enterprise network expansions, migrations, and infrastructure upgrades.

Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Monitor network health using SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, Zabbix, or similar monitoring tools.
• Troubleshoot:
• Latency
• Packet loss
• Routing instability
• VPN connectivity
• Failover issues
• Utilize tools such as Wireshark and TCPdump for packet analysis.
• Perform root-cause analysis and document remediation plans.
• Respond to escalated production incidents while meeting SLA requirements.

Network Security & Compliance

• Configure and maintain enterprise firewall policies and VPN security.
• Implement:
• ACLs
• Network segmentation
• Intrusion prevention
• Secure remote access
• Zero Trust networking principles
• Support compliance initiatives including:
• PCI-DSS
• HIPAA
• SOX
• GDPR
• Work with security tools such as Snort and Suricata where applicable.

Performance Optimization & Reliability

• Perform bandwidth utilization analysis and capacity planning.
• Optimize:
• High availability
• Redundancy
• Load balancing
• Failover performance
• Maintain network uptime of 99.9% or greater.
• Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure risks before they impact production.

Documentation & Governance

• Maintain:
• Network diagrams
• Topology maps
• Configuration documentation
• Runbooks
• Use Visio, Lucidchart, or similar tools.
• Follow structured ITIL change management processes.
• Ensure documentation remains accurate and audit-ready.

Cloud Networking & Infrastructure Projects

• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and DevOps teams.
• Support networking across:
• AWS VPC
• Azure VNets
• Google Cloud Platform
• Hybrid cloud environments
• Participate in:
• Infrastructure migrations
• Office expansions
• Data center deployments
• Network modernization initiatives

• 3+ years of professional experience in:
• Network Engineering
• Infrastructure Engineering
• Enterprise Networking
• Hands-on experience with:

• Strong understanding of:
• TCP/IP
• VLANs
• QoS
• VPNs
• ACLs
• BGP
• OSPF
• Experience with enterprise monitoring, troubleshooting, and packet analysis tools.
• Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Preferred Experience

• CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent networking certifications.
• Palo Alto or Fortinet certifications.
• Experience with:
• AWS VPC
• Azure Networking
• Hybrid cloud environments
• Familiarity with:
• Python
• Ansible
• Terraform
• Network automation
• Experience supporting highly available, multi-site enterprise environments.
