We are looking for a skilled and experienced Junior Advocate with 7–12 years of professional experience in litigation and legal drafting. The ideal candidate should have strong practical exposure to court proceedings, case management, legal research, pleadings, and drafting of various legal documents. This role requires an individual with sound legal judgment, strong analytical abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to independently manage litigation-related responsibilities.
The candidate will work closely with senior advocates and legal teams on litigation matters, assist in developing case strategies, represent clients before appropriate judicial and quasi-judicial forums, and ensure timely preparation and filing of legal documents.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Handle litigation matters from initial case assessment through hearings, proceedings, and resolution.
- Conduct detailed legal research on applicable laws, regulations, precedents, judgments, and case-specific legal issues.
- Draft, review, and finalize legal documents including pleadings, petitions, written statements, rejoinders, affidavits, applications, notices, replies, agreements, and other court-related documents.
- Prepare case briefs, legal opinions, arguments, submissions, and hearing notes for senior advocates and clients.
- Appear before courts, tribunals, and other judicial or quasi-judicial authorities, as required.
- Assist in developing effective litigation strategies based on facts, applicable law, evidence, and judicial precedents.
- Monitor case proceedings, court dates, filing deadlines, and procedural requirements to ensure timely action.
- Coordinate with clients, senior advocates, external counsel, court officials, and other stakeholders.
- Review case files, contracts, notices, correspondence, and supporting documentation to identify legal risks and relevant issues.
- Maintain comprehensive and organized records of ongoing and concluded litigation matters.
- Track developments in relevant laws, regulations, and judicial decisions and assess their potential impact on ongoing matters.
- Provide timely updates to senior management and clients regarding case progress, legal risks, and recommended courses of action.
Must-Have Skills
Litigation
- Strong hands-on experience in handling litigation matters independently.
- Good understanding of court procedures, filing processes, hearings, and litigation strategy.
- Experience appearing before courts, tribunals, or relevant judicial/quasi-judicial forums.
- Ability to analyze complex legal disputes and develop practical legal strategies.
- Strong understanding of procedural and substantive law relevant to assigned matters.
Drafting
- Excellent legal drafting and documentation skills.
- Proven ability to draft pleadings, petitions, written statements, applications, affidavits, legal notices, replies, rejoinders, and other legal documents.
- Strong command of legal language, structure, interpretation, and presentation.
- Ability to review and refine legal documents prepared by internal or external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Valid enrollment with the relevant Bar Council.
- 7–12 years of relevant professional experience in litigation and legal practice.
- Strong legal research, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
