We are seeking a sharp, process-driven Workers’ Compensation Referrals Coordinator to support our client's California-based Orthopedic & Musculoskeletal practice. The ideal candidate has direct expertise navigating the California Workers’ Compensation system—specifically in preparing, submitting, and tracking Request for Authorizations (RFAs) in ModMed while seamlessly liaising between insurance carriers, adjusters, and providers to secure timely patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- RFA Management: Prepare, submit, track, and systematically follow up on Requests for Authorization (RFAs) from initiation to resolution.
- End-to-End Referral Coordination: Oversee Workers’ Compensation referrals from start to finish, ensuring strict adherence to California guidelines and timelines.
- Patient Scheduling: Coordinate patient appointments and procedures as soon as treatment authorization is secured.
- Documentation & Data Entry: Accurately upload referral requests, supporting medical records, and detailed case notes directly into ModMed.
- Charge Entry: Enter billing charges associated with referral requests accurately and in a timely manner.
- Multi-Party Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between insurance carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs), claims adjusters, patients, and healthcare providers.
- Case Organization: Maintain meticulous records to ensure no pending authorizations or referrals fall through the cracks.
Requirements
- California Workers’ Comp Expertise: Proven hands-on experience navigating the California Workers’ Compensation referral and authorization processes.
- Referral Coordination Track Record: Background serving as a dedicated Workers’ Comp Referrals Coordinator in a medical setting.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Skilled at communicating and negotiating authorization status with insurance companies, adjusters, TPAs, patients, and providers.
Please note that this is a full-time contractor position (40 hours per week) with a starting pay rate of $6 per hour depending on skill set and experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, PST.
