We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Node.js, AWS, and System Design to build and scale high-performance backend platforms that power mission-critical business applications. This role requires deep technical expertise in designing distributed, cloud-native systems capable of handling large-scale workloads while ensuring reliability, security, and performance.

As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and optimizing backend services, APIs, and infrastructure components that support modern digital products. You will work closely with product managers, architects, frontend developers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions that meet evolving business needs.

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience in cloud technologies, distributed architectures, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js and modern backend development frameworks.
• Architect highly available, fault-tolerant, and secure cloud-native applications deployed on AWS.
• Develop robust microservices and distributed system components capable of handling high transaction volumes and concurrent workloads.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Create and maintain RESTful APIs, service integrations, and backend workflows supporting enterprise-grade applications.
• Drive system design discussions, technical architecture reviews, and technology selection decisions.
• Optimize application performance, database interactions, caching strategies, and resource utilization.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions to ensure operational excellence and rapid issue resolution.
• Work closely with DevOps teams to improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, infrastructure reliability, and scalability.
• Design resilient data processing pipelines and event-driven architectures where applicable.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
• Establish engineering best practices related to code quality, testing, security, documentation, and maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical mentoring initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with security, reliability, and performance standards across backend services.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for automation, optimization, and technical innovation.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development.
• Proven experience designing and implementing scalable backend architectures and complex system designs.
• Deep understanding of AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, API Gateway, and related cloud-native technologies.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems principles including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, resiliency, and performance optimization.
• Experience designing microservices-based architectures and event-driven systems.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices including CI/CD, infrastructure automation, containerization, and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with observability and monitoring platforms, including tools such as Splunk, CloudWatch, and distributed tracing solutions.
• Strong understanding of databases, caching technologies, messaging systems, and API design principles.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and optimize large-scale systems.
