Position Overview

The Traffic Control Yard Technician is responsible for ensuring traffic control crews are properly equipped and ready for safe and efficient deployment to job sites.

This role supports daily yard operations, including inventory management, equipment readiness, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The position is critical to ensuring field teams operate efficiently and without delays.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment & Inventory Management

• Load and unload traffic control trucks with cones, barricades, signage, message boards, and related equipment
• Verify all equipment is accounted for, functional, and ready for deployment
• Maintain accurate inventory counts using checklists or digital systems
• Track equipment usage and support timely reordering of supplies

Yard Operations & Organization

• Clean, organize, and store traffic control equipment in designated yard areas
• Ensure materials are easily accessible for efficient loading and deployment
• Tag and document damaged or out-of-service equipment for repair or replacement
• Assist with light maintenance and repairs of equipment and tools

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies and procedures
• Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment
• Report unsafe conditions and participate in safety meetings and job hazard assessments

Operational Support

• Support traffic control crews with preparation, loading, and job-specific setup needs
• Assist with organizing and staging equipment for upcoming projects
• Contribute to efficient turnaround times for truck loading and unloading

Requirements
