Technical Writer Analyst (Aviation/Aerospace)

Pay Rate: Starting at $40.00/hour, with higher rates available based on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer Analyst with a strong background in aerospace, aviation, or avionics environments. This position combines hands-on engineering technician responsibilities with technical documentation development, supporting certification, maintenance, testing, and engineering activities.
The ideal candidate will have experience performing technical support functions such as testing, troubleshooting, inspections, and assembly, while also creating and maintaining clear, accurate, and standards-driven documentation.
Bachelor's degree, technical diploma, or equivalent technical certification in:
Aerospace Engineering Technology
Avionics
Mechanical Engineering Technology
Related technical field
Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience as an Engineering Technician in an aerospace, aviation, or avionics environment.Demonstrated technical writing experience developing:
Procedures
Test reports
Maintenance documentation
Other technical documents within a regulated industry
Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulatory requirements, including:
FAA
EASA
AS9100
DO-178
DO-254
ATA iSpec 2200 or equivalent
Hands-on experience with:
Mechanical assembly
Wiring and harnesses
Soldering
Bench testing
Multimeters
Oscilloscopes
Spectrum analyzers
Torque tools
Calipers
Proficiency with:
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft PowerPoint
Document control systems such as SharePoint, Windchill, Teamcenter, PDM/PLM
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work within schedule and regulatory constraints.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
Experience supporting certification efforts and regulatory audits.Familiarity with:
Schematic capture
Basic circuit troubleshooting
Avionics systems
Communication and navigation systems
Flight control systems
Sensors
Experience with authoring tools such as:
MadCap Flare
FrameMaker
Similar technical publishing tools
Knowledge of configuration management and revision control best practices.Active security clearance or ability to obtain one, if required.
