As a Technical Operations Engineer, you will own the operational health of the migration journey for Arbor products, primarily Arbor MIS, alongside other products such as Arbor Finance. Migrations involve moving customer data from competitor systems into Arbor, and you will be the key person ensuring that process runs smoothly. Every migration represents a school's transition to Arbor, and the quality of that experience directly shapes their trust in our products.
You will proactively and reactively work with Onboarding teams, Support teams, the Migration Platform team, to ensure migrations are executed smoothly, issues are resolved efficiently, and systemic problems are fed back to drive lasting improvements.
Technical Execution & Ownership
- Execute and monitor data migrations, ensuring data accuracy and timely completion.
- Manage incidents through issue triage, root cause analysis, and resolution.
- Perform data validation and integrity checks.
- Drive process improvements and enhance operational monitoring.
- Support operational readiness, risk management, and escalation processes.
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with SLAs, quality standards, and performance targets.
Collaboration & Communication
- Act as the primary liaison between Migration, Onboarding, and Support teams.
- Communicate migration status, risks, blockers, and timelines to stakeholders.
- Partner with Support teams to investigate and resolve post-migration issues.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and incorporate customer insights into migration planning.
- Facilitate cross-team collaboration to identify issues early and drive alignment.
- Provide operational feedback to inform platform improvements and decisions.
- Translate technical migration updates for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Share knowledge and contribute to team learning and best practices.
Mentorship & Leadership
- Drive operational excellence by setting quality standards and best practices for migration operations.
- Mentor team members, providing guidance, coaching, and constructive feedback.
- Shape and improve team processes, operational standards, and ways of working.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through collaboration, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- 5–10 years of experience in data migration, operations, technical support, or related roles.
- Strong technical skills in troubleshooting, databases (SQL), cloud platforms, monitoring tools, and Git.
- Ability to investigate issues independently and support incident management in production environments.
- Experience with ticketing systems such as JIRA and working in structured delivery environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, particularly with customer-facing teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and make sound operational decisions.
- Proactive, customer-focused, and committed to continuous improvement and ownership
Desirable
- Experience in SaaS environments.
- Exposure to education technology, school MIS systems, or data migrations between competing platforms
- Experience working with large datasets
- Understanding of SLAs, operational metrics, and service reliability concepts
- Experience in high-volume or time-pressured operational environments
