So, what’s the role all about?

As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automated testing solutions that ensure the delivery of high-quality software products. You will work closely with developers, QA engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders to build robust automation frameworks, drive test strategy, and integrate quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle. This role requires strong expertise in Java and Playwright, a passion for automation, and a proactive approach to improving product quality and release confidence.

How will you make an impact?

  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites for web applications and backend services.
  • Build and enhance automation frameworks using Java, Playwright, and related testing technologies.
  • Create automated test cases and test scenarios based on business requirements, technical specifications, and user stories.
  • Analyze requirements and system behavior to identify edge cases, failure scenarios, coverage gaps, and quality risks.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing throughout the software release lifecycle.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and repeatable quality gates.
  • Investigate test failures, troubleshoot automation issues, and collaborate with development teams to resolve defects efficiently.
  • Review automation code, promote engineering best practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of automation frameworks and testing processes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, testability, maintainability, and release readiness.
  • Drive improvements in automation coverage, execution efficiency, and test reliability.
  • Mentor junior automation engineers and share technical knowledge, tools, and best practices across the team.

Have you got what it takes?

  • At least 4-8 years of hands-on experience in test automation, software quality engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Java with a solid understanding of object-oriented design principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright, 
    • Experience with API testing tools and frameworks such as REST Assured, Postman, or similar technologies.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test cases from requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC processes, Agile/Scrum practices, and release management.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub, or similar tools.
  • Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, including root cause analysis and defect investigation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering teams.

You will have an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience with TestNG, JUnit, Maven, Gradle, or other Java-based testing frameworks and build tools.
  • Knowledge of database testing, SQL, and test data management practices.
  • Experience improving test reliability, reducing flaky tests, and optimizing automation execution times.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments, containerized applications, and microservices-based architectures.
  • Experience working on enterprise-scale software products or complex distributed systems.
