Our client, a multinational engineering and construction organisation, is seeking a highly organised and proactive Relocation Assistant to support land acquisition, resettlement, and stakeholder engagement activities for major infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in facilitating land acquisition, compensation, and relocation processes by coordinating with local authorities, traditional leaders, affected communities and project stakeholders at various project sites. The role requires a professional with understanding of land acquisition process with strong interpersonal skills, excellent administrative capabilities and the ability to work effectively in site-based environments while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Land Acquisition & Resettlement Coordination
- Assist in land acquisition, demolition, relocation, and compensation activities in accordance with project requirements.
- Support the implementation of relocation and resettlement plans while ensuring compliance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate communication between project teams and affected households throughout the relocation process.
- Monitor the progress of relocation activities and escalate issues requiring management attention.
Stakeholder Engagement & Community Relations
- Liaise with local government authorities, traditional leaders, community representatives, and other key stakeholders.
- Maintain positive relationships with affected communities to facilitate smooth project implementation.
- Assist in resolving routine community concerns and escalate complex issues where necessary.
- Support public consultations and stakeholder meetings related to land acquisition and compensation.
Survey & Asset Verification
- Participate in household surveys and socioeconomic data collection.
- Assist with asset inventories, property measurements, and verification exercises.
- Ensure survey records are accurate, complete, and properly documented.
- Support verification activities prior to compensation and relocation.
Compensation Administration
- Track compensation payment progress and maintain accurate records.
- Assist in preparing and organizing compensation agreements and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compensation documentation is complete and filed in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor compliance throughout the compensation process.
Documentation & Records Management
- Organize and maintain relocation files, demolition records, agreements, correspondence, and project documentation.
- Maintain both physical and electronic filing systems for easy retrieval.
- Prepare routine reports and administrative updates for management.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive project information.
Site Coordination & Operational Support
- Assist in maintaining order during relocation and compensation activities on project sites.
- Coordinate communication between contractors, project teams, and affected persons.
- Support supervisors in the execution of daily site activities.
- Perform additional administrative and operational duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Law, Public Administration or a related Social Science discipline.
- Minimum of 2+ years' relevant experience in the engineering, construction, infrastructure, land acquisition, or resettlement sector.
- Knowledge of local land acquisition regulations, compensation procedures, and stakeholder engagement practices is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work in site-based environments and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Must be willing to travel extensively and must possess a valid drivers license.
