We are sourcing candidates for a Entry-level Engineer position at offices indicated to join our Renewables Electrical Team. Full time, in-office presence is preferred, with remote/hybrid work a possibility.
The Renewables Team at LaBella focuses on designing and supporting the construction of small-to-utility scale Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects throughout the United States. The position involves collaboration with colleagues in LaBella across multiple disciplines including the Civil, Power, Environmental, Energy and Structural groups.
Services provided by the Electrical Team include Site Feasibility Assessments, Utility Application Support, design and generation of Construction Documents, Construction Engineering Support (meetings, RFI’s, submittal reviews, mechanical completion inspection, etc.) and Independent Engineer Reviews.
The engineer will be an integral part of an experienced and dedicated team that is working on an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects with a broad client base. Duties
The position includes, and is not limited to, the following responsibilities in support of team PV & BESS projects:
- Work independently and as part of a team to design, manage and complete project designs.
- Collaborate with other internal divisions and external clients in a professional manner.
- Engage in design training and mentoring activities that build a strong technical foundation.
- Follow industry best practices and LaBella standards to design and draft clear and cost-effective construction set deliverables.
- Review project drawings and documentation.
- Calculate and design PV stringing layout.
- Size cables, overcurrent protective devices and equipment ratings per NEC.
- Perform layout of Point of Interconnection equipment.
- Coordinate with client and Civil Engineer regarding site layout.
- Grounding design per NEC and utility requirements.
- Transformer, inverter and combiner box selection and installation details.
- Equipment and material specification, selection, and review.
- Ensure project compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE-C2 (NESC).
- Conduct site visits.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 per year
The specified salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, energy engineering, engineering technology or related program.
- AutoCAD (or similar) experience
- 5+ years professional engineering experience.
- 3+ years professional engineering experience in the energy or construction industries.
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience working in the energy industry.
- New York State Professional Engineer’s license is a plus.
- Experience in the following software is a plus:
- PVCase
- PVSyst
- eTap
