Location: On-site or remote within US time zones, with some flexibility for occasional Hong Kong-time syncs
Type: Contract - 6–9 months (project basis)
Reports to: People Operations Manager
The Role
We are looking for an experienced HRIS Implementation Specialist to lead the end-to-end implementation of BambooHR (our new HR Information System) — and to source and implement a separate compensation management system — at Nex. This is a hands-on, project-based contract where you will own both implementations end to end - from data migration and configuration through testing, training, go-live, and handover - partnering closely with our People team across multiple countries.
Nex is a global team, and you will lead and coordinate the move of our people operations onto reliable, well-integrated systems. You'll bring structure, momentum, and care to a project that touches every employee, and you'll leave us with well-documented, fully adopted platforms and a team that's confident running them on their own. Standing up BambooHR for our two largest hubs - Hong Kong and the US - is the top priority, with the remaining countries to follow. Because BambooHR's native payroll only covers US employees, this role also owns connecting BambooHR to a third-party EOR/global payroll partner (e.g., Deel, Papaya, Remote) for Hong Kong and future countries.
This is a US-based engagement (on-site or remote within US time zones) expected to run 6–9 months.
What You'll Do
- Own the project end to end - build and manage the implementation plan, timeline, workback schedule, and stakeholder communications, keeping the rollout on track and on time.
- Lead data migration - map, cleanse, validate, and migrate people data from our current systems into BambooHR, ensuring accuracy and completeness across all entities and countries.
- Configure and implement BambooHR to support Nex's global, multi-country operations - org structure, employment types, workflows, permissions, and reporting.
- Bridge multi-country payroll - since BambooHR doesn't natively support payroll outside the US, integrate and manage the connection to our EOR/global payroll partner(s) for Hong Kong and future countries, ensuring accurate data flow and jurisdiction-specific compliance.
- Source and implement the compensation management system - evaluate and select a compensation management platform, then configure and roll it out the same way as the HRIS - supporting pay bands, the annual review/merit cycle, and equity tracking, aligned to Nex's compensation framework.
- Integrate with the broader tool stack - design, build, and validate integrations between BambooHR, the compensation system, the EOR/global payroll partner, and other tools (e.g., Carta, Lattice, HREasily), ensuring clean, reliable data flows across the stack.
- Collaborate across functions - partner with stakeholders across Finance, People, Talent Acquisition, and other teams to align on requirements, data ownership, and integration needs, keeping everyone informed and bought in throughout the rollout.
- Plan and run User Acceptance Testing (UAT) - define test scenarios, coordinate testers, track issues to resolution, and confirm the system is ready before go-live.
- Deliver user training - create clear guides and documentation, and run training sessions so the People team and employees are confident using BambooHR.
- Manage cutover, go-live, and rollout - coordinate the launch, provide hypercare support, and quickly resolve post-launch issues.
- Hand over to the People team - leave behind complete documentation, admin enablement, and a clear support plan so BambooHR is fully owned internally after the engagement ends.
What You'll Bring
- The highest standards of integrity and confidentiality - this role has access to sensitive personnel data, and handling it with discretion, care, and sound judgment is essential.
- Proven experience leading full-cycle HRIS implementations, including system migration and integration work — platform-specific BambooHR experience is a plus but not required.
- Hands-on experience with HR data migration - mapping, cleansing, and validating people data with a high bar for accuracy.
- Experience configuring an HRIS for multi-country / global operations, with awareness of jurisdiction-specific requirements.
- Demonstrated experience designing and troubleshooting system integrations during a platform migration - APIs, middleware, and data flows between an HRIS and adjacent systems (e.g., payroll/EOR, cap table, performance management) - regardless of the specific vendors involved.
- Strong project management skills - comfortable building timelines, managing stakeholders, and guiding a project to completion in close partnership with the team.
- Experience designing and running UAT and translating findings into fixes.
- A talent for training and documentation - making complex systems approachable for non-technical users.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills - comfortable partnering with Finance, People, Talent Acquisition, and other stakeholders - and comfort working remotely across multiple time zones, including occasional syncs that overlap with Hong Kong hours.
- Self-directed yet collaborative, and dependable - with the judgment to know when to decide and when to check in.
