Job Description

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to help architect and build a new EdTech product targeted at the corporate market. Reporting directly to the CTO, you'll lead three engineering pods, helping teams deliver high quality software while building a strong engineering culture.

The team mainly build products using Typescript, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS, and modern AI technologies, with opportunities to explore and introduce new approaches where they add value. While this role is primarily focused on leadership, delivery, and team development, you'll work closely with engineers and Lead Engineers to help shape technical direction and engineering excellence.

If you:

  • Are passionate about using technology to have a massive impact in Education, and are excited about using AI to accelerate that mission
  • Enjoy building high-performing engineering teams by developing leaders and enabling teams to do their best work
  • Can balance technical excellence with rapid product delivery in a fast-moving environment
  • Are comfortable working closely with our CTO, Product, Design, and other business stakeholders to translate strategy into execution
  • Understand how to scale engineering teams, processes, and architecture as products and organisations grow
  • Believe that coaching and mentoring great leaders creates greater impact than managing individual contributors alone
  • Excited to work in an office at least 3 days a week

Then we'd love to talk with you

Requirements

Core Goals and Responsibilities

  • Lead and support three engineering pods, each managed by an Engineering Lead Engineer
  • Guide architectural discussions and technical decision-making
  • Drive collaboration and planning across Engineering, Product, Design, and other business stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the product roadmap.
  • Partner closely with the CTO to execute the engineering strategy for Learnosity's Workforce product
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Lead Engineers, helping them grow as technical leaders and people managers
  • Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, delivery practices, and operational excellence
  • Support hiring, organisational planning, succession planning, onboarding, and performance management across engineering teams
  • Champion engineering best practices, security, reliability, and maintainability across all teams

Experience and Skills

Must have

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams, with experience coaching and developing Lead Engineers or other senior technical contributors
  • Strong understanding of modern software architecture and engineering best practices
  • Experience architecting and delivering complex software products in an agile environment
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively at executive and technical levels
  • Proven experience building and developing high-performing engineering teams
  • Experience managing engineering delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and performance management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and decision-making abilities
  • Experience balancing technical debt, product delivery, and long-term platform investment
  • Ability to influence without micromanaging, empowering teams to make effective decisions

It would be great if you had:

  • B.Sc or M.Sc degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar
  • Commercial experience with AI tools and concepts, including machine learning and large language models.
  • Experience driving the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices, including coding assistants, developer productivity tools, and AI-enabled software delivery processes, while establishing best practices, governance, and measurable improvements across engineering teams.
  • Experience working in fast-paced product environments where teams are expected to take ownership, move quickly, and learn through experimentation

Sobre Learnosity

Who we are

Learnosity is a pioneering SaaS company specializing in assessment technology. We believe that while the future belongs to learners, most educational technology is still stuck in the past. Our mission is to help drive the industry forward by providing a new standard of technology to build with. We support innovation to increase the possibilities for learning.

What we do

Learnosity’s assessment APIs give your developers the freedom they need to build the learning products you want. Our cloud-based technology lets you add any assessment function at any scale to create industry-leading products that support learners at every stage of their development.

Our Team

With diverse backgrounds, talents and personalities our team is made up of smart, passionate and dedicated people who take work - but not themselves - seriously. Being part of the Learnosity team is a commitment to push yourself and those around you to do better, constantly adapt and learn new technologies, and be able to apply yourself to any challenge, whether you’re just starting out or a veteran of the industry.

We encourage staff to get involved in individual advancement and professional certification programmes, and will sponsor certification exams where appropriate. Our team is on the cutting edge of web development and we want it to stay there.

You

We are keen to try and maximise the value of your time and will design a schedule around your preferred working style, whether you need to accommodate a school or nursery run, avoid busy commute periods, a gym or sports club schedule, we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

With offices in Dublin, Sydney and New York City we are a global company yet still small enough for you to contribute directly to the bottom line.
