We now have a new opportunity for a Credit & Risk Manager to lead our dynamic Credit Account Management function reporting in the Finance Director - Marshalls. This role ensures that customer credit limits, risk exposure, and invoice queries are actively managed to ensure liquidity management is well managed while supporting commercial teams through informed decision-making.

So, what’s the mission?

You will collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of the business, customer base, and trading environment, enabling informed credit and risk decisions that support growth while protecting the balance sheet. 

This role takes ownership of the accounts receivable ledger and credit risk framework, using sound judgement to manage exposure, set appropriate credit limits, and escalate risk where required.  You will lead and develop the Credit and Risk teams, providing clear direction, coaching and performance management to ensure delivery of departmental KPIs, including cash collection, DSO and risk management. 

To support cash collection, you will own and manage all customer invoice disputes across the business, ensuring timely resolution and improving the customer experience by monitoring invoice dispute volumes and trends with relevant stakeholders to promote a right-first-time culture. 

Forecasting cash collection, reporting performance, and providing insightful analysis that supports effective decision-making across the business are key aspects of the role.  Alongside this, continuous improvement across Credit and Risk processes, with a focus on standardisation, automation and simplification, ensuring efficiency and scalability of operations. 

You will manage relationships with our credit broker, data providers and external partners, ensuring appropriate coverage is in place and claims are effectively managed.  This includes developing and maintain robust risk management strategies, policies and controls, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, monitored and communicated in a timely and effective manner. 

You will take ownership of legal escalations where required, ensuring appropriate action is taken to recover debt while balancing commercial considerations. 

Finally, you will sponsor a strong risk-aware culture across the organisation, providing guidance, challenge and support to stakeholders to ensure informed and balanced decisions are made. 

What skills are required?

  • Proven experience managing credit and/or risk functions within a complex business environment 
  • Strong leadership and people management skills 
  • Excellent analytical and organisational abilities with advanced Excel skills 
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance risk with growth 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills 
  • Ability to influence and challenge decisions using data and sound judgement 
  • Experience in credit insurance, risk assessment, and legal collections processes 
  • High attention to detail with ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively
