Role Purpose:
The Beauty Trainer is responsible for developing and elevating the capabilities of our retail teams through engaging training, coaching, and performance development initiatives.
The role focuses on strengthening product knowledge, makeup artistry, selling skills, customer experience, and retail execution to enable Beauty Advisors and Brand Ambassadors to confidently represent our brands, deliver exceptional client experiences, and achieve strong commercial results across all retail locations and sales channels.
Key Responsibilities:
Training and Facilitation
- Develop, adapt, and deliver engaging training programmes covering product knowledge, makeup techniques, skincare, fragrance, consultation skills, customer service, selling skills, and brand standards.
- Conduct beauty masterclasses, demonstrations, workshops, and other learning activities for Beauty Advisors, Brand Ambassadors, and relevant retail partners.
- Ensure training content and delivery methods are aligned with brand guidelines, business priorities, and the learning needs of the retail teams.
- Attend relevant Train-the-Trainer sessions, education seminars, and development workshops, and effectively cascade the learning to local retail teams.
- Complete and maintain the relevant brand certifications or assessments required to conduct brand training and beauty masterclasses.
In-Store Coaching and Performance Development
- Conduct regular store visits and provide hands-on coaching to improve retail employees’ product knowledge, makeup artistry, consultation skills, selling behaviours, confidence, and overall performance.
- Observe retail performance and identify individual or team capability gaps through field observations, stakeholder feedback, and relevant retail performance indicators.
- Develop and implement targeted coaching and development action plans in partnership with the Brand, Retail, and Training teams.
- Provide timely follow-up and ongoing coaching to ensure that learning is effectively applied on the retail floor.
- Support the continuous development and progression of Beauty Advisors and Brand Ambassadors.
Retail Excellence and Commercial Performance
- Drive consistent execution of brand standards, consultation protocols, customer experience expectations, and retail excellence across all locations.
- Translate business priorities and retail performance needs into practical training and development interventions.
- Support retail teams in improving key commercial indicators, including sales achievement, conversion, average basket value, units per transaction, productivity, and client retention.
- Partner with key stakeholders to identify opportunities to strengthen retail performance and customer engagement.
- Monitor training effectiveness and recommend enhancements based on retail results, participant feedback, observations, and business needs.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Support the recruitment and selection of Beauty Advisors and Brand Ambassadors by participating in interviews, practical assessments, or makeup artistry evaluations where required.
- Deliver structured onboarding and induction programmes to ensure new retail employees are equipped with the required product knowledge, service standards, and selling capabilities.
- Work closely with the Talent & Excitement, Brand, and Retail teams to support the successful integration and development of new hires.
Events and Client Engagement
- Support retail events, brand activations, product launches, roadshows, and client engagement initiatives through training, demonstrations, masterclasses, and on-site coaching.
- Equip retail teams with the required knowledge, skills, and confidence before major campaigns, launches, and commercial activities.
- Represent the brand professionally during internal and external education or client engagement activities.
Stakeholder Management and Reporting
- Build strong working relationships with Brand, Retail, Sales, Marketing, Talent & Excitement, and regional or global Education teams.
- Communicate training priorities, performance observations, development needs, and recommended actions clearly to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate training records, attendance information, field coaching reports, and development plans.
- Provide regular updates and reports on training activities, effectiveness, retail capability gaps, and recommended follow-up actions.
- Manage training schedules, materials, resources, and competing priorities in an organised and timely manner.
Requirements
- Diploma or professional qualification in Beauty, Makeup Artistry, Training, Retail Management, or related discipline with ACLP / ACTA is preferred.
- Relevant experience in beauty, cosmetics, makeup, skincare, fragrance, luxury retail, retail operations, or retail training.
- A makeup artistry background is strongly preferred, as the role will be required to conduct beauty masterclasses, demonstrations, and relevant brand assessments.
- Strong practical makeup artistry and beauty consultation skills.
- Experience in training, coaching, facilitating workshops, or developing frontline retail employees is preferred.
- Good understanding of luxury retail, customer experience, selling behaviours, and retail performance indicators.
- Strong facilitation, presentation, coaching, and communication skills.
- Ability to translate business and performance needs into practical training and development plans.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working in stores and providing hands-on coaching to retail teams.
- Proactive, adaptable, and confident in engaging stakeholders at different levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and comfortable preparing training materials, presentations, and reports.
- Willing to work outside standard office hours occasionally to support retail activities, events, launches, or training programmes.
- Open to occasional regional or global Education Seminars, Train-the-Trainer programmes, and business travel, where required.
