Role Purpose

The Regional Sustainability Coordinator APAC is responsible for translating global sustainability strategy and targets into effective regional execution in APAC. The role ensures consistency with group standards while enabling region‑specific prioritization, project delivery, and value creation.

Acting as the key link between Global Sustainability and regional APAC business functions, the role coordinates sustainability governance, drives impact projects, and oversees high‑quality ESG reporting and assurance readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Translation & Governance

  • Translate global sustainability strategy, targets, and policies into clear regional objectives, roadmaps, and KPIs
  • Ensure regional alignment with Group sustainability commitments, frameworks, and governance requirements
  • Act as the regional sustainability reference point within the Company Sustainability team

Coordination & Execution

  • Coordinate regional SustainaBizz and SustainOps teams, ensuring effective collaboration across functions (e.g. PDMs, procurement, operations, SC, innovation, HR, sales, MSDs)
  • Drive and coordinate the execution of regional sustainability and impact projects, including climate, sustainable procurement and PSA / Sustainable Products
  • Monitor project progress, risks, and outcomes, ensuring timely delivery and measurable impact

ESG Reporting & Assurance (in close collaboration with the APAC Sustainability Audit & Reporting Specialist)

  • Oversee regional ESG data collection, validation, and analysis
  • Provide insights and quality checks for sustainability disclosures (e.g. CSRD/ESRS, CDP, EcoVadis, internal management reporting)
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of evidence, documentation, and follow‑up actions

Value creation, Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Serve as the primary regional interface to Global Sustainability
  • Engage regional leadership and functional heads to embed sustainability into market segment strategies, business processes and decision‑making across upstream, own operations and downstream / sales
  • Train and upskill regional teams on sustainability, including strategy, targets, tools, and relevant business implications, to support consistent implementation and ownership
  • Contribute to internal and external sustainability communication, ensuring consistency, credibility, and business relevance
  • Represent Azelis in the Asia TfS team

Optional Responsibilities (depending on scope)

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for selected sustainability topics (e.g. climate, SHEQ, product stewardship, circularity)
  • Lead or coordinate a regional sustainability team where applicable

Qualifications & Experience

Must‑Have Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Sustainability, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Natural Sciences
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in consultancy and/or a corporate environment
  • Proven track record in sustainability and/or SHEQ‑related activities
  • Proven expertise in sustainability / ESG reporting
  • Strong project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in parallel

Preferred / Plus Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading multinational, cross‑functional teams
  • Demonstrated experience in business functions (e.g. sales, marketing, operations), enabling effective business integration of sustainability
  • Experience working in global matrix organizations

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate ambition into practical execution
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across functions and hierarchical levels, including senior management and C‑level
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to position sustainability credibly and pragmatically both internally and externally
  • Ability to lead without formal authority and navigate complex global / regional interfaces
  • Structured, solution‑oriented, and resilient in a dynamic business environment
