Job Description:

Department

The department this role is based in is Branch Infrastructure Technology services.  The team works on currency projects and business requests for the new products and current applications the branch uses.

Job accountabilities – What You'll Do

  • Works independently in a Lead Developer role on a diverse range of tasks and may be relied upon to coach/ educate others.

  • Subject matter expert and consults with clients, team, and/or project team to provide technical guidance and highly complex troubleshooting/problem resolution.

  • Leads the development and support of highly complex and/or comprehensive applications/systems and/or business lines.

  • May administer business applications in co-ordination with appropriate stakeholders

  • Reviews, participates and implements procedures

  • Researching industry standards, best practices and new innovations in technology and makes recommendations

  • Build and manage User Interface, server-side logic, databases, and application programming interfaces (APIs) using technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, React and TypeScript.

  • Solve business problem by writing clean, maintainable, and reusable code.

  • Support the application team with Azure Cloud migration activities.

  • Support Application security by fixing vulnerabilities through source code change.

  • Design, review, and integrate all application requirements, including functional, security, integration, performance, quality, and operations.

  • Ensure timely notification and escalation of possible issues/problems, options and recommendations for prompt resolution; communicate project status and provide timely escalation of issues to ensure project objectives are met.

  • Act as partner in scheduling, packaging and releasing new applications and manage all application releases according to approved governance and gating criteria.

  • Fix Accessibility defects to meet compliance requirements.

  • Analyze the technical requirements to recommend sound engineering specific solutions for own area, participate in coding/story estimates.

  • Work with technology partners to ensure the source code changes meet application requirements and performance goals.

  • Document and verify system components, applications, system infrastructure, security, integration, operability and engineering related architecture designs associated with a program or project.

  • Provide code maintenance and support during testing cycles and post-production deployment and participate in reviewing peer coding.

  • Provide technical expertise during Incident management, analyze incident reports and outages, check application logs to identify the root cause of issue, perform impact assessment for incidents and facilitate internal and external communication throughout incident resolution.

  • Adhere to standard security coding practices to ensure application is free of most common coding vulnerabilities

  • Ensure technical decisions, technical risks and lessons learned are identified, clearly documented and enhancements are accordingly implemented

  • Deliver effective and efficient solutions that meet key project milestones and overall project deliverables on time, within budget, and adhering to development and quality standards

  • Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep abreast of emerging trends for own functional area

  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk activities as necessary

  • Adhere to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines

  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

  • Keep current with industry and/or business trends

  • Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in TD services, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools and techniques that can contribute to effective solution development/delivery

  • Identify/implement process improvements to enhance revenue, customer experience and/or reduce costs.

  • Provide Disaster Recovery support by assisting in defining / reviewing disaster recovery plans and by participating in testing

  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest

  • Support the team by continuously enhancing knowledge / expertise in own area and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit; Support knowledge-sharing across teams and with relevant stakeholders, ensuring knowledge is codified, monitored, tracked and managed

  • Work collaboratively with the team and leadership to proactively identify and resolve issues related to product quality

  • Work collaboratively with the development team to define and validate appropriate user stories, acceptance criteria and definitions of done / ready

  • Keep current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques

  • Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team

  • Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities

  • Contribute to the success of the team by willingly assisting others in the completion and performance of work activities; provide training, coaching and/or guidance as appropriate.

  • Contribute to a fair, positive and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce

  • Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally

Where You'll Work

You’ll be expected to work Primarily onsite at a TD location for meetings, team events and experiences. The hiring manager will provide more information about how this works for their team.

Job Requirements – What You Need to Succeed

  • Front-End (Client Side): Working experience in HTML, CSS, Javascript, React.

  • Back-End (Server side): Proficiency in Node.js, Java, Spring Boot, Spring framework, Restful webservices, asynchronous programming and authentication (JWT, OAuth)

  • Database Management : Competency in writing optimized queries, designing schemas, handling database migrations and understanding indexation.

  • API Systems: Ability to independently design and optimize RESTful APIs, focusing on payload efficiency and query latency.

  • Tools and Version Control: Experience with Git, package managers (npm) and API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI).

  • CI/CD & Cloud: Basic mastery of continuous integration workflows (Github Actions) and knowledge of Azure Cloud.

  • AI Tool Fluency: Ability to safely use AI assistants (like Github Copilot) to accelerate delivery while possessing the deep system knowledge required to debug, audit and correct AI generated code.

  • Testing Rigor: Writing reliable unit, integration and end-to-end tests using frameworks like Jest, Mocha, Junit etc.
