Collins Aerospace is seeking motivated Software Engineers join the Integrated Applications Engineering team supporting development of the Collins Flight Deck. This role offers the opportunity to work on real avionics programs and gain hands-on experience across the software lifecycle—from requirements and architecture through integration, verification, and delivery.

This position will provide you the opportunity to work with Flight Deck software in an agile team environment.  The team has an array of technical tasks available meant to develop engineers for the future.  As part of the team, you will work alongside experienced engineers to help develop the software based on high-level system behaviors, decompose requirements, support avionics architecture development, and contribute to software verification activities. This is a strong fit for those who enjoy solving technical problems, learning complex systems, and collaborating across software, systems, and test disciplines.

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of software engineers, integration specialists, and test engineers to design, develop, and deliver robust avionics software solutions.
  • Support the development, analysis, and refinement of software requirements and interfaces to ensure alignment with system-level objectives.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of software verification and testing strategies to ensure implementations meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Participate in technical reviews of software requirements, design documents, and test procedures, incorporating feedback to improve the quality and effectiveness of your deliverables.
  • Assist with software integration, debugging, and issue resolution in development, simulation, and testing environments.
  • Clearly communicate technical progress, challenges, and potential solutions to team members, mentors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.

  • How to work with software requirements, architecture artifacts, and verification methods used on real aerospace programs.
  • How to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment with mentorship from a dedicated technical “copilot” and other experienced team members.
  • How to apply structured problem solving, technical communication, and engineering rigor in a safety-critical domain.
  • Support development and verification of avionics software requirements and functionalities.
  • Contribute to architecture, interface, and software design discussions for next-generation flight deck capabilities.
  • Create, update, and execute verification artifacts such as test procedures, test cases, and supporting analysis.
  • Help investigate defects, analyze system behavior, and support root-cause activities during integration and test.
  • Work with engineers across systems, software, and test to solve technical problems and improve product quality.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks by driving work to closure and communicating progress, risks, and questions proactively.
