Job Description Summary

The Senior Manager of Environmental Programs & Compliance serves as the strategic leader for the organization’s environmental initiatives. Unlike site-based roles, this role is responsible for setting environmental strategies, ensuring cross-facility regulatory alignment, and managing a team of environmental professionals. This role drives the organization’s sustainability agenda, oversees high-risk environmental projects, and serves as the primary liaison between operations and environmental regulatory bodies.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the environmental roadmap, including air, water, waste, and remediation strategies that align with business growth and sustainability goals.
  • Broad Understanding of Environmental Laws and Reporting: Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Stack Database & Air Testing, NRC Semi-annual Effluent Reporting and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), inclusive of wastewater, stormwater, and process water management.
  • Regulatory Oversight: Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for environmental compliance. Lead the management of complex permit applications, agency reporting, and high-level inspections.
  • Program Excellence: Design and implement global or regional environmental policies that standardize performance across the enterprise.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Function as a critical partner to Engineering, Operations, and Business Leadership to integrate "Design for Environment" (DfE) principles into new product/process development.
  • Change Management: Drive a culture of environmental stewardship, using advanced persuasion and communication skills to influence senior leadership and site operations on complex environmental topics.

Competencies: 

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to look beyond day-to-day operations to anticipate future environmental regulations and market trends.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing performance, and building consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Analytical Rigor: Using technical environmental data to inform business investment decisions, CAPEX planning, and long-term risk mitigation strategies.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multi-site, multi-year environmental projects with high-risk profiles and budget accountability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 8–10+ years in EHS/Environmental roles, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or team-supervisory capacity.
  • Certifications: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) preferred.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,100.00 and $188,500.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
