About this Senior Electrical Project Manager role at Mark III Construction

Mark III Construction · Onsite · Sacramento, California, United States

**NOT A REMOTE POSITION**

Who we are

Mark III is a full-service construction company comprised of three complementary business units: M3 MEP, M3 Service, and M3 Components. We support projects from initial concept through long-term maintenance, with specialized expertise in healthcare, data centers, higher education, industrial, life science, and technology markets.

Our integrated, big-picture approach allows us to self-perform electrical, HVAC, plumbing, process piping, prefabrication, and MEP design. By consolidating these services under one organization, clients benefit from reduced profit layers, minimized scope gaps, and simplified project schedules—working with a single, accountable partner rather than multiple consultants and subcontractors.

Headquartered in Sacramento, California, Mark III operates throughout California and Nevada. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility serves as a centralized hub supporting five core trades: HVAC, mechanical piping, plumbing, electrical, and metal-stud framing. To support our continued growth, we will be relocating from our current combined 62,000 square feet of office and operational space to a new 340,000-square-foot headquarters at 2031 Optisolar Lane, with the move planned for completion by the end of Q3 2026.

The Senior Electrical Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution, profitability, and client satisfaction of one or more large or complex electrical construction projects. This role provides day-to-day leadership to Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field leadership, and serves as the primary point of accountability for assigned projects from preconstruction through closeout.

The Senior Project Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy, mentors less experienced project management staff, and partners closely with the Electrical Project Executive to support division-level goals, client relationships, and strategic initiatives.

Operational Leadership

  • Own project execution for one or more large/complex electrical projects from preconstruction through closeout, maintaining margin and schedule on jobs with significant risk exposure.
  • Review contract terms and conditions and support contract negotiations.
  • Lead project planning, kickoff meetings, and execution strategy for assigned projects.
  • Oversee project mobilization, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct regular project reviews evaluating safety, quality, schedule, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure timely project closeout, turnover documentation, and post-project evaluations.
  • Hold project teams accountable to company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Actively support company safety initiatives and ensure project-level compliance with regulatory and company safety standards.
  • Champion the use of prefabrication, VDC, Lean construction principles, and emerging technologies on assigned projects.

Financial Management

  • Manage project financial performance including revenue, gross profit, labor productivity, cash flow, and forecasting.
  • Anticipate contract, scope, and schedule risk early, identify opportunities throughout the project lifecycle, develop mitigation plans, and keep leadership informed on jobs that need attention.
  • Partner with the Project Executive to support division business plan objectives and profitability goals.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, change orders, forecasts, and major purchasing decisions for approval.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other assigned project staff, providing hands-on coaching, reviewing their work product, and escalating performance gaps to operations leadership.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within project teams.
  • Participate in interviews and candidate evaluations as needed.
  • Partner with Superintendents, Foremen, and field leadership to ensure labor productivity, workforce planning, and project execution excellence.

Client Relations & Business Development

  • Maintain trusted advisor status with clients, owners, general contractors, developers, and industry partners on assigned projects, proactively managing expectations and resolving disputes before they escalate.
  • Support Business Development and Preconstruction teams in identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
  • Participate in proposal development, presentations, and interviews as requested.
  • Represent Mark III professionally at project meetings, industry events, and networking functions.

Strategic Support

  • Support the Project Executive and Division Leadership in executing project delivery strategy and operational initiatives.
  • Partner with Estimating and VDC during buyout and pre-job planning to ensure assigned projects are set up to win before work begins.
  • Champion Mark III's culture, values, and commitment to excellence within project teams.
  • Balance project-level leadership with hands-on involvement in key deliverables and client interactions.

Requirements

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of electrical construction management experience.
