Job Title: Senior Project Lead – Design Engineer (Hotel Interiors)
Experience: 15 to 18 years
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Lead will spearhead the technical design, engineering, and execution of luxury hotel interior projects. This role bridges the gap between creative design concepts and structural, manufacturable, and installable realities. You will lead a team of design engineers, coordinate with global architects, and ensure flawless project delivery on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & Engineering
- Convert conceptual interior designs into highly detailed, IFC (Issued for Construction) production drawings.
- Review architectural layouts, millwork, joinery, and fit-out shop drawings for structural integrity and compliance.
- Standardize design engineering processes, material specifications, and construction methodologies for hospitality spaces.
- Resolve complex technical, structural, and MEP integration challenges inherent in luxury hotel projects.
Project Leadership & Execution
- Manage the end-to-end design engineering lifecycle from initial space planning to final site handover.
- Develop comprehensive project schedules, design deliverables tracking, and resource allocation plans.
- Oversee value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising aesthetic quality or brand standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to audit installation quality, resolve site snags, and ensure design compliance. [
Team Management & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of design engineers, 3D modelers, and draftsmen.
- Collaborate closely with clients, operators, project management consultants (PMCs), MEP consultants, and main contractors.
- Coordinate with procurement and factory production teams to ensure manufacturing alignments for custom furniture and fixtures (FF&E).
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 15 to 18 years of experience in interior design engineering, with at least 8 years dedicated to 5-star hotel/hospitality projects.
- Proven portfolio showcasing successful execution of large-scale, high-end public spaces, guest rooms, and F&B outlets.
Technical Competencies
- Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or SketchUp.
- Deep knowledge of joinery details, fit-out materials, ceiling systems, and custom FF&E manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of international building codes, fire safety regulations, and acoustic standards for hotels.
Soft Skills
- Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and team-building capabilities.
- Sharp problem-solving skills with a high attention to technical detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder management.
