About this People Business Partner role at ClickUp

ClickUp · Remote · United States

At ClickUp, we're building the future of work: the first truly converged AI workspace unifying tasks, docs, chat, calendar, and enterprise search, all supercharged by context-driven AI. We are an AI-native company. Every team member is expected to leverage AI daily, and we evaluate AI fluency as part of our hiring process. Join us and help redefine what's possible. 🚀

The Role

We’re looking for a People Business Partner to support our Product-Led Growth Go-To-Market (PLGTM) organization. In this role, you’ll partner with managers and employees to navigate performance, development, and employee experience while helping the organization scale thoughtfully.

You’ll provide practical guidance to managers, support key people processes, and ensure employee concerns are handled with care and consistency. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, highly responsive, and energized by solving people challenges in fast-growing environments.

Just as importantly, you'll help lead our AI transformation. Every People team member is expected to work AI-first: leveraging AI to move faster and eliminate the manual work that gets in the way of high-value partnering. You won't just adopt these tools yourself; you'll build them and have a front-row seat to how AI reshapes the way we work and support our teams.

What You’ll Do

Partner with Leaders

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers across the PLGTM organization.

  • Provide clear guidance on performance, team dynamics, and people decisions.

  • Help leaders navigate growth, change, and organizational complexity.

Support Performance & Talent

  • Support performance cycles including goal setting, reviews, and performance improvement plans when needed.

  • Partner with People team members on talent reviews, internal mobility, and team transitions.

  • Help identify retention risks and support leaders in addressing them.

Manage Employee Relations

  • Triage and resolve employee concerns with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.

  • Provide managers with guidance on sensitive people matters and ensure appropriate escalation when needed.

Enable Managers

  • Coach managers through common leadership challenges including feedback, performance conversations, and conflict resolution.

  • Provide practical tools and frameworks that help managers lead effectively.

Drive Operational Excellence

  • Track and manage employee cases and requests using ClickUp.

  • Identify patterns in employee questions or issues and recommend improvements to people processes.

  • Support rollout of people programs across the organization.

Lean Into AI Transformation

  • Work AI-first: default to AI tools (including ClickUp Brain and AI Agents) for research, drafting, summarizing, and administrative processes instead of handling them manually.

  • Build and maintain AI agents and automations that take repetitive people work off the team’s plate.

  • Coach managers on how AI reshapes their teams: role design, skill expectations, capacity planning, and what “great” looks like in an AI-first org.

  • Champion adoption across the PLGTM organization by modeling the behavior, sharing what works, and pulling others along.

  • Monitor emerging AI capabilities and translate them into practical improvements to how we develop and support our people.

What Success Looks Like

  • Managers receive timely, practical support and handle people challenges with greater confidence.

  • Employee concerns are addressed quickly, consistently, and thoughtfully.

  • Core people processes run smoothly across the organization.

  • Managers have the tools and guidance they need to lead effectively.

  • Manual, repetitive people work is measurably reduced through AI and automation.

  • Leaders you support are more fluent and more confident in applying AI to how their teams operate.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in a People Business Partner, HRBP, or similar role.

  • Experience supporting teams in high-growth or fast-paced environments preferred.

  • Strong understanding of employee relations and performance management.

  • Excellent communication and coaching skills.

  • High judgment and discretion when handling sensitive issues.

  • Organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI, with hands-on experience using AI tools in your day-to-day work.

  • Bias toward automating your own workflows and a willingness to rethink how work gets done.
